That’s so kind!! 🥰😊 you are really sweet! We are slowly but surely trying to improve as much as possible with each vlog! Feeling good heading into this next chapter 💪😊
Hearing yall pronounce conch wrong PAINED my soul and yall kept repeating it mdf 😭 konk but now yall know next time make lotta friends there we will help yall with alot and show more things to do and try
Hahahah sorry about that one!! Definitely should’ve asked a local. But seriously in our defense why do they spell it that way?? 😂 And sounds good!! Cheers and thanks for watching 👍
I is a Bahamian and I'm gonna help ya with da proper 'pronounciation' of Conch. Spelling: Conch Pronunciation: Conk (hard C) or Konk Local song: Once is not enough, even twice you dont see all the results, come back for some Conch, peas and rice and guava duff, cos when you visit The Bahamas once, its not enough.... I used the old speaking vernacular because its fun to hear it on the streets or in the straw markets....,
love that you guys came down don't mind all these pronunciation comments (not that big a deal) lol all that matters is that you guys had a good time and enjoyed the food. Should definitely try some other restaurants as there are many other great dishes if you come back.
Honestly, as a Bahamian, im cringing....a conversation with the waitor or waitress would have helped you with the pronunciations or even 2 minutes worth of research.
Good question! We picked the restaurant based on the menu and what they had versus what food we knew we wanted to try! Also the one restaurant that Guy Feiri went to we figured would be great because he approved it! 🤗
@@WyattandReyka That's the best dessert I know of that's native to here. I like it more than ice-cream and cheesecake. So, it's up there when done right. Traditionally it's Steamed in water, but I like the modern bake duff only when it's cake like. Nothing else is like a duff. Just try it next time. Stew Fish and Johnny cake is better than Souse in my opinion. it's completely different from souse. You'll have to taste it.
The name actually was journey cake. It supposed to be a dense hardy bread, buttery flaky top with a slightly charred bottom bake over coals traditionally (three rock, making a triangle to put pans on). Farmer's and men who lived off of the seas carried them always. They didn't fall apart easily like the tourist version that's has kinda taken over. Top part of the bread for mothers and kids drinking tea while the bottom for coffee drinkers at least that's how it went on my island Andros. 15 min flight from where you were Nassau. Unfortunately we are changing are cuisine to fit international taste, that's why you might see a "Bahamian fish Taco". Bahamian taco 🤦🏾♂️.
Haha it’s happening all across the world. We are globalising, for better or worse. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed our little video at least a little bit!! 🥰🤗

I wish you guys tried conch salad.
Next time!! Is it good?!
@@WyattandReyka It’s very delicious! I think you would like it.

Oof. Rough to hear. But fair! We’ll do more research next time
What restaurants would you recommend as a local? @peasndough
Amazing question. We’d love to know for our next trip
I was thinking the same 😂
Great video How did you decide which places to try?
Good question! We picked the restaurant based on the menu and what they had versus what food we knew we wanted to try! Also the one restaurant that Guy Feiri went to we figured would be great because he approved it! 🤗
James Hemings introduced macaroni and cheese to America . He was the first American chef to be trained in France. 😊
Woah! Had no idea 🥰 we loved the Bahamas food tour that Mac and cheese was so delicious
Did y'all try Guava Duff and Stew Fish?
No we didn’t! Are they good??

Oh Andros is not the best example of authentic Bahamian food... 👀
What is? 🤔
Same thing I said when I saw that. They lucky they didn't get the runnings
@@WyattandReykaalmost any other local restaurant 😂. Fish fry is very tourist oriented so it's more to please foreign palate
Conch = konk
Yeah that’s our bad lol. We suck at pronunciation
Thats not real johnny cake
Oh really?? What should it normally look like??

Really there is nothing special In Bahamas except the beach. meals cost like dinner at Rodeo drive. Food is average. Prices high.
We loved the beaches and the people too! And we thought the food was actually pretty good! That Mac and cheese was insane

@@peasndough I don’t have financial issues , it is not worth the price you pay even including beaches. They are robbing American tourists.
