Yeah I was thinking I definitely should have added a slow motion repeat for the last clip, that guy was quick as hell 😅 Glad you liked it man, happy holidays 🎄
Sure, the thing to look for is for the red or green light on the scoring machine to turn on. If the light on the right side turns on for example, it means the person on the right landed a successful hit on the other person. 🙂 So whichever side the light turns on, means that side got the point
Hmmm, I wonder how was it scored before a circuit system was introduced. Did they maybe coat the ends of the foils in colour chalk, hence the white outfits?
@@macklinillustration correct, they're white to show the dye they used to use. You would then remove the dye later with vinegar, apparently the smell would get pretty terrible
This is very nice, those hits are Amazing! But for the next one you could try tho choose some more "built" points, instead of these more kind-of-impromptu ones, it could be very cool too in my opinion
I love this sport. Most people don't know the origins of fencing but it is easy to see once it is explained. Way back in history, the 1970s, two teenager had taken the fiberglass rods off their bikes, it had been very popular to attach flags to children's bicycles, using a very long rod of thin fiberglass. If you detached the flags from the bicycle and stripped the flag off the rod, it became a semi bendy whip like weapon. The two teenager found that it was very entertaining to try and whip each other with the fiberglass rods, well, until each of them actually made contact and found out that getting whipped by a long piece of fiberglass rod really hurts! That sudden but short lasting whip fight, so long ago, eventually evolved into the sport that fencing is today. Two combatants whipping at each other with now metal rods, but never actually making real contact because like those two boys in the alley, with their fiberglass rods, they are a bunch of pussies playing at combat, while not resembling actual combat in any way.
Fencing actually comes from pre historic ages. Two men would face off, with long and pointy objects in hand. Of course, women couldn’t participate because they didn’t have any. Thus, in the name of gender equality, the sword was invented. That’s why the geeks and row men’s did the first olympics naked or something like that
@@ariharris9221 I think you are mistaken. Obviously you did not read my comment that accurate described the origins of fencing and why it has devolved into more of a dancing competition than a sport. You seem to be attempting to deceive RUclips users in what I can only imagine is a ploy by "Big Fencing" to boost the prestige of an obviously failing pass time. Please Ari, be a better person.
The guy who did the last hit was a cadet, meaning he was 14-16 -year old. I think that makes the hit even more impressive
absolutely
If someone's pulling off bold hits, they're usually pretty young. Wired to take bigger risks, and holy crap, did that one pay off!
@@sentienttapioca5409 that's true too. Well except if your name is max heinzer
Actually i also practice epee and we try this one a lot
Was this over the back????
oh was one of the athletes who got me into fencing. i watched the 2021 gold medal match and i decided that this was it, this is my sport
I never used to watch any sabre until Oh started doing unbelievable superhuman stuff! 😄
You have marvellous taste, good sir. That last hit was glorious
The best hit ever caught on camera, in my opinion
Thanks! glad you enjoyed 😄
1:40 was just 💯👌
I feel proud being a romanian .
The Oh hit, Kiefer hit, Meinhardt hit, and the last hit with the epee dude with the long name were amazing.
Glad you enjoyed! 🙌
Year late, but that Meinhardt touch is just legendary
Yuppp, meinhardt the american GOAT
World Fencing Day! 😃 I hope you all can fence normally soon
Out of all of them, the #1 for me is the final clip 👌
I find it cool that the foil section is the married couple Lee Kiefer and Gerek Meinhardt getting the touches
Oh whoops that was unintentional lol 😄
They're both highlight machines what can I say
@@OlympicFoil Honestly, I fence sabre, but I find foil and sabre equally fun to watch.
Ooh somebody increased the editing budget, you love to see it!
💪💪💪
We have the same favorite men's foil and men's epee touch!
🤝 Nice 😃
i had to replay the last bit 3 times to understand what he did was amazing... but that romanian chick was hilarious lmao ...
Yeah I was thinking I definitely should have added a slow motion repeat for the last clip, that guy was quick as hell 😅

0:41 0:47 I guess that's he is named OH Sang-uk
😁 Ohhhhhhhh Sanguk
can some one explain who won each point and what constitutes a hit

Last hit 🔥😬
Why are they attached to the cable?
it connects them to the scoring machine behind the stage, so that a light will be activated if they land a hit on the other person
@@OlympicFoil wow thats amazing! Thank you for an answer
That'll wake you up...
I don’t even understand how did that happen at the last one ? Can someone explain ?
So the fencer on the right reached his arm around the back of his head to hit the other guy on the back
wild stuff
@@OlympicFoil ohhhh now I see it , thank you for the explanation 😊
Did Piskovatskov do a Chamley-Watson in epee?
😁 Yeah baby! 👌
I would just point my sabre at the opponent and yell: "EXPELLIARMUS!!!" 👍
if magic was a sport i would do it for sure 😂 love harry potter
Does that hurt?
Not really, you cant feel it that much through the uniform 😃
mens epee rlly made my jaw drop
1:48 i am romania❤️❤️🇷🇴
Sure I totally understand all of this.
😂 i feel you
whichever side the coloured light turns on for got the point

ahh you mean like a "best 500 IQ fencing points" kind of thing?
@@OlympicFoil Yep!
wth was that last one !!!! OMG
That was a hit straight out of the book of Max Heinzer move right there :D
I know right! Pure magic, such a cooool hit 🤩
First bout, perfect example of someone taking for granted that they will hit.
Good point!
One time. 2:05
Her head look sideways 😂

That last one was very obviously an American the way he just tensed his whole body and put all his strength into that swing.
