Today, we show you how to create an ethereal fantasy composite of jellyfish in a night sky. Learn to combine multiple images with Blending Modes and Layer Masks, and then bring a composite together with creative color toning and grain.
Aaron had a lot of fun making a composite for RUclips again! Let us know in the comments if you'd like to see more.

I'm amazed and a little overwhelmed how you guys know all of this, but I'll keep pushing forward. 'll be watching this one many times. Great one.
Aaron rocks! And the touches of humor are great. Always such a pleasure to watch your videos!
You are the Bob Ross of Potatoshop. I've learnt a lot and been entertained. That's a rare thing. Thanks.
Potato shop! Hhahaha
@@Rsaulus Im still laughing at this 2 year later
Potatoshop!
This episode was great!
I'm not planning to put jellyfish in the sky but it was really nice to see all the small tips in a greater context. More of this kind please 😃
I really enjoyed making this
So much good stuff packed into a nice concise video. Really enjoyed this. Thank you.
My photoshop professor is the complete opposite of you, he insists that we follow his directions written down instead of showing us how to do what he wants out of us. Thank you for ACTUALLY teaching us!
the best 24minutes of my life!!
Thanks, for the video, love how look in the end
Wow this is amazing. I am so subscribing. You deserve it
Thank you very much. I can't believe i am taking this great lesson for free. When i will available, i would love to buy your courses and support you. Thank you
This channel should have more subs, really appreciate your content, thank you sir.
Dope. Could you explain how you developed the concept...? Cool stuff...
Great tutorial. Learned new tools and techniques and enjoyed the process. Thank you!
That jelly fish image came out super cool looking :)
accidentally lol
Had so much fun doing this one....would appreciate more of these. Thanks!
Thanks so much. I'm actually going to try it. It would be my first composite!
Please do more step by step tutorials like this! I learned so much and it really helps to learn things like masking when I can see the effect in context. Phlearn tutorials really are the best I've found for Photoshop. Aaron has a great way of explaining things and doesn't go too fast (a common complaint of RUclips tutorials).
I understood nothing from 8:44 to 8:50
I'm struggling to follow this. For example, after saying _"I'm just gonna pop a layer mask on"/"I'm gonna paint black on it"_ it's just being done, yet the actual buttons pressed or icons clicked are not being articulated. While the image was being brushed black it wasn't stated that you'd switched from the move tool to the brush tool, it's just being done as though I'm supposed to know but I'm here because I don't. I guess maybe by this stage it's taken for granted that everyone should already know these tools by now. Maybe I'm supposed to take note of all the small movements on the screen more than the audio even though I'm not entirely sure what was clicked on? Or maybe this is intermediate? Oh, I don't know...I guess I'm too new for this entry into photoshop...
EDIT: I've just given it a third go to grasp these tools and I'm legit pulling it off now! I feel very accomplished right now haha!!
doesnt work for me, props to ya. most software tutorials face same issue. the interface is small and harder to follow on a video. easier as you get more familiar. my exp not w/ PS but Maya and unreal.
I agree, everyone here is the same you speak too fast and do not give the details of your move. Worthless. Sorry!
I love this Image. It reminds me of my DMT trip from a year ago.
PLUG 🙏🏽🙏🏽thanks for this
Thank you Aaron Nace, you are the best ❤👍
this video right here is amazing bro!! I made my first flawless-looking composite ever after learning these tips and tricks from you! im so happy with it and these are skill ill be able you use for alot of future projects. i cant explain how thankful i am for the videos you are putting out. you built both my confidence and understanding of the program through great examples and explanation that i haven't seen often. i went from scared to pick out pic for my next project to jacked about it. bless you man!!
Thank you so much :) it was my first tutorial and it came up just perfect now I will repeat this tutorial 20 times, I promise I will get there in no time. Thanks again :)
Always I learn something new from u 😊
Learning is must to know new 👍
Fun video. RUN! The jellyfish are coming!
great vid, nice looking outcome. btw, what do you do to be able to see the different blending modes just gliding over them? i have to click each one to preview them. not the best workflow.
Okay, this man's face and beard just reminded me of Tony Stark. And his sacrifice.
lol yes
To avoid corners showing, you could place the image how you like, create a mask over it entirely and paint in only the part you need. Would help with precision too!
You miss something. I know you know that objects that are far from you are not as bright as objects in front. Try to dim the light to the jellyfishes that are far. Get the atmospheric perspective right
@@VicSoh8649 I thought it was just me!!!!

My regular lasso won’t keep a straight line. It puts a “hole” in it. How do I fix that?
Hey there. Great tutorial. Quick question. What is the stylis and pad you use with your editing? Thanks. Marty
Holy shit, that gradient map thing just blew my mind! Great video, dude!
I've watched many of your episodes which I enjoyed but this one was a drag!
Awesome as usual! Thank you Phlearn! I’d like more like this! I like composites!
it is a great feature of photoshop that helping me in product photography too.
How on earth do you open multiple images at once? I can't make it work at all, besides making it look like a mess and not be able to move the pictures :(
You give me hope! Thank you! 😀
Can you do a video on how to see through a pretty girl's clothes? Please. I am big fan of Phelarn! Plearn #1
What kind of desk chair do you use?
Thank you phlearn for helping me understand Photoshop 🌴🙂
You are so funny, knowledgeable and creative.
Thanks Aaron for this helpful compositing tutorial that reinforced the importance of using blend modes to not only create an interesting image but to make these multiple images blend together so well. I also like how you used a color gradient to add cohesiveness to the entire composite. Thanks!
didn't take long ......proceed with *edited* almost half an hour video ......
This was more educational than a whole month, so great!
If you can do this. You can compose anything.
you make so quality videos, do it in 4k please!
Very Cool!
I love to know that watching your videos is never a waste of time and I will learn what I am looking for. Plus, I always understand every single word you say. Phlearn for life!!!!
So many lightbulb moments! Thank you for so many simple little tricks!
You make it look so easy, but when I do the exact same things it doesn't work.
I have a question. I am struggling with wrapping my jellyfish. it says that i am not allowed to wrap for linked layers masks.
16 Jellyfish didn't like this video...
Perfect tutorial, Thanks. Quick question: Is it just me? 😅
“Simple” 😂😂
I can't get past the first minute because when I open the photos I want to use they open separate from each other, I don't know how to get them to show up on the same screen? I think I will very much enjoy this video once I figure that out, can you help? Thank you very much!
Great tutorial.blending different photos are very difficult.
Thanks so much for such a thorough tutorial! Your videos are always high quality and well thought out. We are lucky to learn such cool techniques from you!
that was awesome... just one question... how in the world did you do that...??
Fantastic video! Thank you
question when imported my jelly fish its treating it like a smart object. so i have to unlink my mask when i go to distort and than repaint it if you over laps. not whining about but it didnt seem like you had to do that. so my question is am i importing it wrong or is there a convert i should do?
Thanks a lot, great lesson !!
I wasn't able to do the actions like the move image thing like how he did it. I'm starting to think I just wont' ever master this.
This one is pretty advance. my advice would be to do an introductory series that covers the basics in a systematic way. Stick with it. You will get it I'm sure!
when I open more than one photo they open in separate tabs. how do you get them all on one screen???? I need more details plz
Had to slow down the video to be able to catch up with his speech speed...
The liquify tool does not work.....
This is soo good..
If you make poster or social media marketing designs or designs for different items or other real time projects of yours, then it is more effective for people on youtube
👍
where is a good location to get free images to work with?
A little too fast for a beginner in Photoshop

Dude I just finished and it looks AWESOME
I didn't know if you double click on a smart layer, you can access all the layers that were essentially grouped into the smart layer.
This was a great tutorial! I learned a lot! Thank you
This tutorial was FANTASTIC!! Really enjoyed and Learnt A Lot !! Thanks Sir!!
Awesome, thank you!
The bestttestttt tutorial ever made.. i can't believe when the artwork was done.. i couldn't belive that i had done it!!!!!... thannk you so muchhh... it gives me more confidence now to make such artworks now thankk yiuuu
For some reason I wasn't able to paint the white, and bring out the trees. I checked my settings, pixels, and all, but I could not figure out why the white would not paint at all.
on my desktop version of photoshop, it won't let open multiple images on the same screen, they are on different tabs. Is there a setting that will allow me to change that so I can duplicate your workflow? Please help
I hold alt key and then click jelly fish layer but it didn't work how to fill white...... M stuck here. Someone please help
Appreciate the tutorial but you forcing people to subscribe to get files IMO is not cool had you not done that I would have done so. Ill find other pics on my own, thanks for the tutorial. With forcing people to subscribe for the pics its easy to grab a million subscribers.
Coolesst ever! very good at explaining and showing steps. Love It. Exactly what ive been looking for. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much sir for giving link of sample images in description.very few ppl do this

When I opened my 5 images they all opened in different tabs. I'm lost before 1 minute mark. Ahhh please help
useful
how do you use the brush tool at the beginning without getting rid of the tendrils? is there a brush setting you're using?
“No bigs”
Great tutorial - well explained, clear shortcuts, and not presented at a million words per second 😂
Here is an Image I did using different images with your video. not sure if I can post a link. ... photo.php
Luv you GUYS..!😘
Excelente trabajo amigo muchas gracias por compartirlo 👍🏻 👍🏻
Nice Video! Very helpful! Thanks very much! :)
Phlearning is fun ! don't play video games
Finally, I made it work just like it was shown in the video :). It took some time but was worth trying and I have learned a lot. Thanks for the tutorial 🥰
Had to dislike this one - as others said below, too fast and breezy, steps are not clearly shown.
How do you make it to where you make the photos smaller and can see all 4 photos at once? New to photoshop, someone please help!
ı dont back to layer s panel after the smart object
ctrl+s doesn't work
I just want to say that i love Aaron !
