What I love about Willow is she’s directionless and that’s what makes her a breathe of fresh air. She can tackle any genre.
no she has direction, she's just not limited by genre and so her direction is limitless. A person with no direction is unmoored, they have no anchor. Willow has solid foundations for example her ability to play the guitar since she was 14. She has an ear for music and it seems studied. She comes across as an educated musician who then lets her neurons dictate were she goes musically. She is freedom. You learn and then you allow what you learn to dictate direction but it only works if you have a mindful understanding of fear. Fear will have you feeling like you fighting for your life just cos it might feel good to change direction.

@@angelicaterry3367really well-said. She is far from directionless, I would say untethered or unencumbered by existing norms is more like it.
She chooses her direction(s) thoughtfully and plays with all genres her own way. Big difference, and the OG post may have *intended* to say what you did, but words have distinct meanings, and “directionless” just isn’t accurate here.
Yet we all agree, she’s setting a new standard/example & we’re all very much here for it!!

Willow has an amazing versatility to her that just keeps me spellbound with everything that she does. First of all this is a collaboration. I did not even know that I needed. She had that one with St Vincent and now this one so she just keeps giving me stuff that I never imagined but once I hear it I’m grateful for it because it’s just awesome. I am so thankful to be able to listen to her material and to go on these fantastic journeys with Willow. She gives us so much.
