12 days ago after compilating going to the hospital due to pain and bloating in my intestines/stomach (extreme) and also felt like my ulcer returned. I decided to researh a bit first. By the next day I had decided to do a fast and afterwards go carnivore. 3 day water fast - lost 5lbs now I have been on the carnivore diet (4 hour eating window) I am down 10lbs today and have zero symptoms as of today. My skin looks better, this strange swelling in my eyes is gone, joint pain gone, rash on my arm that I had for months is gone, and I am back doing yoga daily (I am a yoga therapist) and of course I decided to go vegan for ethical reasons, not knowing that turned my particular body into a ticking timebomb. what probably was a partial bowel obstruction (My husband is a general surgeon and I have past issues which could cause such a result). I feel like a completely different person and have finally shed the guilt of eating meat. I will move to a keto 4 ,hour window diet in two weeks to make sure I am fully recovered. Another benefit: I have had to use allergy medication such as Afrin etc.. for years due to nasal congestion.100% cleared up. I feel emotionally grounded and clearer in mind. A strange side note: my skin smelled like mustard the first week. I am still a little tired, but I was exhausted before this began, so I think that will take some time to resolve. Thank you.

While I agree with the regime suggested, I would urge caution taking 5 x Betaine HCL capsules to increase stomach acid. These often come as 640mg dose. The ones I took also contained Pepsin. I overdid it with 3 capsules and burned my oesophagus and it took me a week to get better. So start low for a few meals (1 capsule before MAIN meals, not snacks), then slowly increase until feel like your digestion is improving. If you feel like you've taken too much, cancel it by taking a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda powder (baking soda) in a glass of water (you'll probably burp). Don't take antacids tablets or PPIs, they are a big part of the problem in the first place when used constantly!

Sadly, the doctor didn't bother to teach me what not to eat. I eventually got better, tho I was very anemic and weak. I had iron infusions and B12 injections. I wish I could find something to help me. I have been bloated and have had a distended stomach since mid year of 2015. Hospitalized in Jan 1st 2016 and they did find ileus which is where parts of your intestines quit working and if they don't start working then they have to go in and remove those parts because they die off from not working.
Been to 3 GI Dr's which all have told me different things from it being caused by anxiety to gallbladder to I'm healthy as a horse but I know how I feel, I know what my stomach looks like and how I feel like I'm going to split open because the bloating and distention is so bad. And what is even worse is that I only eat once a day. Once in a blue moon I try to eat again but the pain isn't worth it.
I pray that what is ever wrong with me would be healed so I can start to feel normal again. Be able to go to a buffet and just be able to eat what I want, yes that sounds like a goofy thing to want to be able to do but I miss being able to eat. Let's not forget I only eat once a day and gain weight. Gained 10 pounds in one week and the GI Dr said that was normal but let's also remember this is the same Dr that said I had nothing wrong and it was anxiety.
He never checked my stool, pushed on my stomach or anything. But he said it was anxiety. So I wish I could find out what is wrong with me but seems like Dr's today don't give a crap. I'm glad you are feeling better and I hope you stay that way.
One question, did you still drink water when you didn't eat?

    • @ridgebriar17

@@kimsikorski5691 - I am sorry to hear about your health problems. The 2 incidents that I went without eating for over 24 hrs - unintentionally - happened within a 3 day period during an unexpected 'crisis' situation. Even after the 24 hrs, when I finally realized I hadn't eaten, I still wasn't that hungry and waited another 30 to 60 minutes before eating again.
FYI - Most of my life I have not eaten during the day because I had noticed years ago, I felt more energetic and alert if I didn't eat during the day - long before anyone ever heard the words Intermittent Fasting. I had recognized long ago, it was the blood sugar / insulin swings that were causing sluggishness. A book called The Zone came out many years ago, confirming that insulin swings were associated with the serious chronic illnesses - and the only way I knew how to stabilize those blood sugar swings - was to not eat. It only took a couple of days to adapt to not eating during the day - for me, it 'feels' normal and I rarely feel any hunger during the day.
In recent years, I have felt a bit more general abdominal bloating and discomfort ... and then this recent strange episode of migrating discomfort, bloating that suddenly occurred about 6 months ago ... and lingered on - even with eating once a day.
It was only when I went 2 stretches within a 3 day period of not eating for over 24 hrs each time ...unintentionally ... that I noticed a couple of days later, that this strange bloating and discomfort that had plagued me for months ... had vanished.
I have also noticed that the generalized milder bloating and discomfort I had felt for several years ... also greatly improved. In years past, I have also had a series of painful gallbladder issues that would last 6 to 12 hours ... just enough time for food to move thru my system. If I thought a gall bladder issue was impending - I would immediately stop eating, and stick to water for about 18 hrs. After a few years, I noticed that the gallbladder problems had virtually disappeared as well.
For me, it seems dealing with digestive issues by not eating ... seems to be working so far. Also, this past year, I have even intentionally fasted 18 to 24 hrs on days when I don't feel that hungry - without any "hangry" problems - and felt very well.
And FYI - I drink only water and occasionally black coffee during times I am fasting. I hope you can find some answers to your health issues..

I ended up getting the worse case of SIBO in the world after food poisoning that lasted a month before they caught it. I was sick for 5 years. Every doc I saw I told them antibiotics make me feel better, they said I had IBS. I was So skinny sick and gassy, they even took my gallbladder out and that made things worse. I did so much research, got a new GI Doc, and asked him if I could have this. He said he could promise me that was my issue. Gave me a very expensive anti-biotic as well as diet change. It saved me, I could have cried. It is something that will probably never fully go away, I do have to take xifaxan every year or 2 depending on how I eat and stress levels. This last time I went 2 years. But just needed to start another round of it. It sucks living with this, who knew food poisoning could mess you up for life?

My SIBO came from really bad dentist- the bacteria went right into my gut- it was awful! Everything you have stated has happened. I got LANAP surgery on my mouth and now ( because of your information) I fast daily 18-20 hours and do OMAD. I still struggle due to the biofilms and have a very limited diet. It is a horrible thing to experience but it has led me to follow channel and be a health warrior. Thank you so much you are very inspiring. I had a root canal done that felt 'heavy', and then started hurting more and more. After 6 months of horrid pain it burst- a piece of filling material had been imbedded in the gum. The fluid that went up my sinus and down my throat burned like heck. A year of horrid stomach pain, not able to work, a doc who promised an ultrasound but being Canada it'll never happen. The dizziness, the headache, the huge bloating, back pain, chills. I've been living off savings, spent a fortune on every stomach remedy known, and by trial and error realising what I can eat. I've always done intermittent fasting and grow all my veg, I'm a clean eater, but this has very nearly killed me. I just want to be done and go back to life.

This is the easiest demonstration to understand. I have been wracking my brain and so i just started today the Kyolic Garlic (the one for Candida) , clove (per your recommendation in another video) and the oil of oregano. Going to get some ACV capsules . Unfortunately I have erosive esophagitis and have been hospitalized twice for it. So taking the HCL and the liquid ACV is out as those were the two that broke the camels back. I discovered a few years ago from an endoscopy that I had H. Pylori. I took the antibiotics and my gut got so much worse.
I tried carnivore and that did nothing for me other than constipate me even more. I do believe it’s a matter of killing off the bad bacteria BEFORE adding anything in. This is awesome!!!! Thanks Dr B

I have been dealing with this since I was born. My family was in and out of the hospital with me constantly. Once we finally visited a naturopath, the only thing she could come up with was SIBO. I know it sounds weird, a teen giving you advice, but I’m practically a doctor with everything I have done. My heart goes out to anyone else dealing with this. Sometimes I will be perfectly fine for months on end, then I will have flare ups. “Flare ups” is what my family calls it” they have lasted for months and months on end. They seem to keep on getting worse the older I get and the more I find out about it. The children’s mercy doctors don’t know anything about it. At all. I have had 2 doctors in my life that know about it. I have started to try something where I have a little journal and throughout the day I log my symptoms. You can log what you ate, drank, what you used to try to calm your stomach, etc. You can even make it all cute and decorative. ✨scrapbook style✨ now prepare yourself, I’m about to give you an entire list of foods you should try to stay away from. Now, of course this is different for different people, it’s just that these things can cause inflammation. Sugary foods, (including bananas and different fruits), fake/artificial sugars, coffee, dairy (small amounts are fine if they are spread out and less than serving sizes), bread (sourdough is fine it actually has a lot of things in it that can help you digest food), starches (potatoes, corn, tapioca, etc.), a lot of gluten-free breads aren’t very good, anything high in carbs. There are definitely more than this but I’m not going to list off anymore. This reply is probably centuries long, lol. Mainly just try to stick to proteins and veggies. Very small diet, I know. You can obviously eat more than that, those are just the main things. Something that I struggle with (a lot) is exercising. I definitely don’t do this as much as I need to but it helps so much. Your immune system gets very weak with SIBO, so it is important to build it as much as you can. Ok, I’m done now. Stay strong and I believe that you can do it!

I am severely anemic now, I can't hardly walk because I almost pass out. I have breathing problems, severe chest pains in my heart that send pain to my left shoulder every time I would eat, heart palpitations, facial numbness after I eat, dizziness, severe weakness,, muscle spasms, internal tremors, brain fog, hard time remembering things, losing weight like crazy, just started having serious blood sugar problems in the last 2 days where my heart rate was 137 and oxygen was 76 (my oxygen levels were always 99 to 100 before getting sick) . My heart rate has been very low at only 47 for the last 2 years, and now it is even lower at 37. My stomach starting bloating really bad after I ate mostly at night for the last 2 or 3 weeks, now I can't eat solid food at all because it gives me severe diarrhea even only a very small amount of food chewed very well. I was even down to eating only meat and some vegetables. NO sugar, until now because of serious low blood sugar problems ( raw honey in warm water). No grains, no processed foods. I literally feel and look like I'm slowly starving to death. I daydream about food. I have seen many different doctors, with no help yet. I have had 13 children (6 still living at home), so I was already pretty depleted before the mold which caused serious health, gut and whole system problems. I started getting better when we went and stayed in Airbnb's for 2 months, but we couldn't afford it anymore and had to move back into our home. The insurance company finally agreed to take care of most of the mold, after denying the claim at first. I don't want to die, my family needs me but I am no help to them right now. People don't understand what we are going through at all. Husband is getting sicker day by day and children are having more symptoms as well. We need SERIOUS HELP to heal and have been living off prays and miracles since my husband cannot work right now and is taking care of us all. I cannot break down meat any longer and have proteins, mold, and bacteria in my blood. God please send us help to heal & recover??? Very important question for SIBO Treatment - do you avoid all FODMAPS when on the KILLING PHASE with herbal/conventional antibiotics?
Because some health practitioners say you should avoid them during the killing phase and afterwards, while others say that consuming FODMAPS during the Killing phase is much more effective as it does not let the bacteria go dormant and increases the effectiveness of the antimicrobials. There was also this study on SIBO where patients took just antibiotics and antibiotics with guar gum (high FODMAP) and the latter had much bigger effectiveness. I am leaning towards the 2nd scenario - that it might be wiser to consume some FODMAPS during your killing phase, and after the treatment you do avoid them for a certain period of time, while supporting yourself with probiotics.
What do you think, what is your stance?

You wont lose weight if following that program. Not if u are skinny already. Also its good to work out or do interval training (high intensity) This will boost growth hormones and build muscle.

I have never heard of this condition until now, because i am desperate to find out what`s wrong with me.
I had a heart catheter ablation 3 months ago and since then i have all these effects:
It started with a weird odor i could not detect - Something between ethanol & methane. I first thought it was the post surgical medication i had to take - Then 6 weeks post surgery all the digestive conditions kicked in: Pain after meals, bloating , severe constipation ( stool like rocks and in bright color indicating bile deficiency) fatigue and the odor described in my breathe specially after meals.
I can only eat small portions of food, otherwise i feel quite sick after meals. Doctors were all pointing in wrong directions such as gastritis or liver issues.
I was once athletic, full of muscles, but now lost 5kg within 3 weeks. I`m glad at least to have found which direction to go in order to combat this condition.

I had it for the entire month of January. I beat it by doing a 3 day prolonged fast with just black coffee and electrolytes (nothing that stimulates the liver). I felt so good after doing this that I now do one prolonged fast a month of 4-5 days. Bacteria in the small intestine dies off and it allows for the gut lining and mucosal layer to regenerate. Also quells inflammation by resetting the immune system and improves liver function. Dr. Valter Longo has some great interviews online going deep into the science.

SIBO should be renamed “small intestinal streptococcal overgrowth,” because the truth is that Streptococcus is the leading type of bacterium that causes SIBO and in many cases the only type of bacterium involved. Better yet, overall diagnoses of strep should replace diagnoses of SIBO-the focus shouldn’t be limited to the small intestine. Strep overgrowth is not stationary. If strep is in the small intestinal tract, chances are it’s in the colon and rectal area, too, and also in the stomach.

The test for SIBO is called: Hydrogen Breath Test. You blow into a bag every 15 minutes over 3 to 4 hours (different bag each time) and then you get results within a week. If positive, you may get an antibiotic called Rifaximin (expensive) to take for 14 days which kills it fast. Then you have to rebuild your friendly intestinal flora after, as any antibiotic will destroy those. Take a probiotic with at least 20 to 50 Billion CFUs and 12 to 20 different strains. You'll be good to go.

I am not writing this if I am not TRULY TRULY VERY GRATEFUL. Dr. Berg, you literally saved my life! I had had bloating symptom for a few months and all the time I thought it was indigestion. My doctors agreed. before that, I could normally run 10K within 1 hour with ease and during the time I had bloating, I could not run more than 500 meters as I felt so exhausted I had to stop to take some walk and started running again. I didn't know what happened but my legs felt so weak. Since I thought it was indigestion, I ate lots of fruits, vegetables and pro-biotics. Didn't work. Things got worse that recently I felt out of breath going up one flight of stairs and later developed edema on my feet and legs! Until I came across your video. I reexamined myself and found that maybe the problem was the lack of nutrients (especially the B12). After your video, I knew I had chosen the wrong and opposite path, the things I ate (fruits, veggies and pro-biotics) actually promote the SIBO! I turned to carnivore diet and ate lots of garlic. I felt better within 2-3 days and after a week my edema was gone. I felt very strong after 10 days. If I didn't watch your video, I would have taken Diuretoc my doctors prescribed and might have believed I had chronic liver and kidney failure like they diagnosed. I went back to my doctors (I put an 's' to emphasize I always get at least one second opinion) and they never heard of SIBO, amen. God bless you Dr. Eric Berg.
P.S.: a very special thing about your video that differentiate your advice from others is that you recommend herbal-antibiotic (that's why I took garlic, onion, honey and extra virgin olive oil), and as far as I know, you are the first one recommending this. And IT WORKS! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!
