Thank you for reviewing chapter 129 of Oshi no ko and honestly seeing Akane and kana tossing shade at each other was just hilarious but yeah it felt nice to see Ruby finally nail her mother Ai's personality and yeah I'm also looking forward to seeing how Aqua manages to pull off his father hikaru's personality and something tells me he'll be able to nail it perfectly. 😏
Yeah the Akane and Kana interaction was great 😂 Love seeing those two interact and I think Ruby is finally on the right track. She’s gonna do amazing in this role. Likewise with Aqua and Hikaru ofc
Honestly if you showed me this picture of Ruby a while ago and said it was a flashback to Ai I would have believed you. They look exactly the same. Incredible casting visually that’s for sure
I really thought for a second that it was Ai who is in this chapter. Ruby really looked super identical to Ai. Well in the last chapter, yepp she may look like Ai but the way the author drew her smile really emphasized that it is Ruby; unlike this chapter that I really didn’t see ruby in the disguise.
Ai is angry at the world and lies to it in hopes of that changing or getting better. Her lies are both her venegance against the world that gave her no love growing up and her secret prayer that in lying may she win the love she's always wanted and perhaps become a person capable of loving back. Hikaru, I feel, might have been instrumental in this goal. Somehow, he caused her to change. For better or worse. He caused a change. He either succeeded or failed, either way the result ended with Ai breaking things off and leading to him offing her. Ai might be a darker character than we thought. Now I'm thinking she herself might have had something to do with her dying. Like an elaborate suicide. Every move calculated to inspire as much tragedy and sympathy to everyone who knows of it. A scene masterfully penned and performed. What if going on the Dome or seeing the twins grow up brought back her insecurities? Her fears of failure and rejection? And so she asked Hikaru to end her life before she could be "exposed" as a "fraud." In dying? Maybe Ai reasoned she'd be immortal? To both the public and her kids. Her kids never get to grow up seeing the rotten broken sides of her and she gets to stay their eternal madonna in their memories. The public will have the memory of a legendary idol who died before her time. An unfinished masterpiece is more poignant to human imagination than a completed piece, no matter how magnificent. We weep for unfinished work. Ai wanted love. She was starved for it. She might be greedier and more unhinged in this desire. What if that love included the twisted desire to be loved past death? To become a star in their minds and memories while she's still at the zenith of her success instead of gradually watching her fall and fade away? Maybe that's why Hikaru does what he does? What if it turns out he understand Ai better than anyone alive? And he does what he does in honor of her memory and her true nature.
To be honest, I can actually see Hikaru being the one who understand Ai more than anyone else. Maybe it’ll be like you said, but it’ll be very poetic if Hikaru truly understood Ai more than anyone else even Aqua.
@@ZephyrRetro The twins might have loved the idol, their mother Ai. But Hikaru might have been the only one to love the broken, ugly, damaged and painfully human side of her. In its entirety. Now, could he ultimately turn out to just be a simple serial killer? Yeah. But how much more interesting would it be if turned out the serial killer is the only who actually loved the side of Ai that was in desperate need of it?
It's always nice to see Akane and Kana working together. They may dislike each other, but when they work together they do a greatl together when the cameras turn on. Gotanda making Ruby do all those takes, saw a comment that struck with me. Gotanda wants a certain performance and all those takes the commenter said was like Stanley Kubrick. He WAS notorious for doing all those takes to get what he wanted and treated costars really bad to get the anger, frustration, and even fear in certain scenes. One infamous example is The Shinning when Kuberick made Shelley Duval do that famous bat scene gong up the stairs over 100 times. He told the filming staff to bully and treat her like dirt. So when you saw her become defeated and see the true terror in the face it was mainly because Kubrick was able to get that defeated look though unethical ways of doing it worked. Akane would have done the job better because of her method acting meaning acting like a true character with their actions, personality, etc and some even act when the cameras aren't rolling. That's what Heath Ledger did when he went full bore into the Joker. Another great method actor is Daniel Day Lewis.
@@Acro_YTyeah even Melt in Tokyo Blade arc has more character development than her and Ruby throughout the story. Compared to Kana she the only one who got character development thanks to Scandal arc consider she able to pick herself up on her own without Aqua help in chapter 103.
Ai’s hidden emotion is anger? Anger in what? Her life? Her relationship with Hikaru falling through? Having to raise her children without a father? Being an orphan? Maybe, because she’s mad at herself for lying. She most likely knew deep down it’s likely said lies were never really gonna be true.
I'm also excited to see what happens next! This is so exciting and Ruby really looks a lot like her mother. I hope that in some way Ai might come back at some point
As for Ruby? Now this might just be my shipperfaq self talking: But I have a strong feeling her acting skills, or at least her ability to channel her mother will happen the moment she loses the fan goggles, meets and resolves shit with her past life mother, or the moment Aqua inadvertedly ends up fulfilling the same role their father had in their mother's life. If Ruby needs to channel Ai? Aqua needs to channel Hikaru, and he might be able to do that if he drops his hate and tries to actually understand his murderous father and his twisted relationship with their mother. In exploring their parents psyche? The twins will be pushed into a similar direction. I'm just saying: the moment Aqua diqs down Ruby? That's when movie magic happens. It will be like Ai never left. She'll talk, walk, and breath like Ai. She might even smell like her: sinfully sweet and ripe with guilt--with just a dash of misatrophic mischief and a pinch of spite for spice.

This chapter shows that Gotanda was the best director ever in the show! He's in my list of favourite characters!!! Akane and Kana rivalry was one of the best! Ruby's acting will be getting better after this. Can't wait for Aqua's acting as Hikaru. This is my last chapter again. I'll get to read the others till November. Selecion exam is next week. Man, when will these exams ever end?!!😩😩😩
Here's what I think is going to happen in the tour. 1: Aqua will probably spy in order to protect ruby 2: during the tour the father might create an incident probably involving the entire crew 3: akane will finally show her true colors
Kana is really observant on how she point out Gotanda and Aqua similarities of doing things consider Aqua also used the same way to Melt during Sweet Today drama. Also I want to see what is it Kana takes on the script consider only her and Gotanda that has different opinion regarding the script consider the others only view the script full of malice. I also look forward to Nino and Ai character deconstruction considered how both of these characters really hiding something based on Kana portraying Nino and Ruby portraying Ai in this chapter.
I mean, she not a robot. Mantaining that facade of "perfect cheerful pure idol" must be absurdaly exhausting and frustrating, specially with her wish of "turning líes into love" never coming true despiste trying her hardest, add all the resentment and abuse she was víctim of just for existing and not wonder she feel that way
Ruby really isn't a real actress. Not like Kana and Akane are. They developed their skills since they were kids and worked very hard to get to the level they are at now. In this chapter, we could see how Kana could easily figure out why Gotanda made Ruby repeat the same scene over and over again. She understood the director's strategy thanks to her experience because she's used to dealing with things like that. On the other hand, Akane already knew the kind of emotion the director wanted to arouse in Ruby for her to play Ai correctly (in that case, anger) because Akane understood the character thanks to her acting skills. Ruby didn't understand any of those things until after several tries. As long as Ruby has the role of her mother, we can't really start to find out Ai's real story. First, we'll have to deal with the problems Ruby has in understanding Ai's character and it really seems like a waste of time.
Two things that I liked about this week's chapter:
1. Director Taishi Gotanda REALLY knows what he's doing.
2. Akane's inner sadist showing up.
Yep, Gotanda is cooking. He gonna make sure this movie is a whole masterpiece 😤
