Don't set it up according to the directions. Find the software online and install it like a normal printer after that it works really well. (I installed it like they suggested and then had to uninstall it all because I couldn't do anything with the printer from my computer - useless for a teacher.)
I will be buying this printer, WELL DONE REVIEW. I happen to love the HP instant ink program. Yes, you can refill them yourself, but if one ever vomits on you, your printer is toast. The HP program is very very reasonable.
I have an hp envy with a screen which I like because I scan documents to a flash drive and make copies from time to time. Not sure if I would want to have to use my cellphone to set up the printer to do that

Very informational but one incorrect piece of info: If you quit the Instant Ink Plan, you can NOT use your left over cartridges until you join it again. Once you are off the plan, you have to use cartridges you buy directly from a retail store. Read this carefully because it indicates it's cheaper to stay on the plan even if you don't print a high volume.

I think so cause the connection between this printer and your phone is likely to be an unwanted “trojan horse” since most of the controlling need to be done through it.

I wouldn't print a lot of photos on any new printer I would buy but which new HP printer model on the market today prints better photos than this model in the video I've watched tonight? What's the document feeder option for? I probably could do without one since I wouldn't feed 20 pages at once to be copied or scanned.
How in the world do you change the scan size in the document feeder to 8.5 x 14 (Legal size). My HP6455 only seems to offer up to 8.5 x 11 and it does not auto-detect.
Good printer, but it has annoying little pop ups asking 'Are you enjoying your printer?' whenever you are trying to use it. You have to answer yes or no, then it takes you to an internet page. Right in the middle of your work. Wish there was a way to turn these off.

HP smart is trash. I finally got the Envy set up after hitting my head against the wall for an hour trying to get HP Smart to connect to it. Now I can't find the file I want to print from within the apps browse feature. Selecting print from the file browser itself didn't do anything. They're trying to force everything through their dumb app.

Unfortunately it doesn't support duplex scanning. If I remember correctly there should be a power switch in the back? If not a cheap smart plug might be a good way to switch it on and off. I think there might also be an option in the app for shutting off the indicator light.

Instant ink sounds like an instant privacy nightmare! Does anyone know for sure what this is sending back to HP? It might be sending page counts and it might be sending everything you print back.
Either you have not had this printer very long or it's a fake account, my advice would be to take it back to where you got it, if they will accept returns. Get a different brand. you can refill hp ink cartridges yourself. plenty of youtube videos on how to do this. hp hates this and will try to sabotage your attempts as they make millions on cheap ink. bit of a learning curve. amazon has all the supplies you need. dont ever hook your printer up to hp or use their apps. you are just a sucker to them.
It’s funny how we have come to a point in life now where everything is BYOS now. Bring your own screen. Soon ATMs just should not have screens on them. Just walk up with your phone. Hell no tv screens anymore. Just watch it on your phone lol.

I do not often buy printers but when I do, I make sure it has seperated tanks for each colour. And in my next printer they will be refillable.

I agree. This is needlessly complicated. Just push a button is five minutes and a lot of brain usage saved. HP just wants a revenue stream.

The ink cartridge won't work if u cancel subscription and if ur printer is offline then u obviously can't print wirelessly
