Just curious Why do you have to use “Bluetooth” when setting up the printer on an iPhone? I was under the impression communication from the iphone to the printer was thru your home wifi? Thanks Bob
Yes, you are correct. But during setup the HP app asks for access to your phone’s Bluetooth for some reason. I am assuming it uses Bluetooth to locate the printer that hasn’t been set up yet.

I like the way you presented this. However, I made a point to find a USB capable printer. HP setup does not even address it or have it as a selection option. I need simple as possible for now. It is not finding my printer.

After an hour talking to hp, downloading the app, it just became too much of a head ache! It would not connect to his wifi, again and again he tried. He was going to destroy it on a video and upload to youtube. He offered it to me, I skipped the wifi and did a wire connetion, followed your video, hp must have noticed it was plugged in and skipped that part, thankfully. It said it was ready to print now, I haven't tried but that's next, it should be ok. many thanks.

I need to know that also! Only way I see to do it, is to scan your image into a file first. Then go to App & open the file, make any adjustments, then print. But if you need more than 1 copy of something that doesn’t need scanning normally, there are no number buttons on printer itself, you have to go to App again, & then you can choose number of prints you need. Sure seems time consuming to me. I love HP, but give me the little digital screen back instead of having to go get a device, open App & figure out how to get copies! If there is a shorter way, I’d sure love to know about it!

Have you tried setting it up from a different device like a phone? This sometimes helps. Once it gets connected to your network it’s much easier to then go back to the original device and set it up

I have bought and returned 3 printers, because I did not know how to set then up to do wireless printing, OMG. Nice coverage... addresses issues that HP doc is sorely missing especially for those with little to no experience. The issue I encountered when I recently bought the HP 6056e Envy which appears to be very similar to the 6055 setup wise was that I use a Linux distro and there is no HP Smart version other than Windows and MAC ... seems like a big miss for HP on this point. However, I was able to set it up from my cell phone (android) and then connect to it from my computer via USB and this solution went smoothly for printing. The next hurdle dealt with using the scanner. Unlike any other scanner I have ever used you can not just use a d/l driver for the scanner (I had replaced an HP1510 that had one). No, you had to use HP Smart meaning I had to use my phone to initiate a scan and then get the result on my phone and send it to my computer! Ridiculous! I had printed out using the control panel the printer status data that showed the url address for the printer and used that through my computer browser to access the printer built-in web page. This allowed me to do a scan. It also required me to enter the printer's PIN# which was also on the status report before a I could start a scan session. That was a little cumbersome but at least I could access it all from my computer and do multi-page scans in one session. The pdf generated got saved in my Document folder and I was good to go. My take away is that HP has made it very difficult to use this printer if your computer is Linux based. It escapes me why they would exclude a sizable market sector from being able to use their product while supporting 3 other OS choices.

Hi, I’ve had my printer for quite some time now, but this is the first time I need to replace the ink. The first time I tried to open it, I couldn’t. Later I opened it without problems and found the cartridge size. I now have ink, but I’m physically unable to open the compartment again. It opens about 1/4 inch and yellow lights come on. I tried hp support but none of the pre-loaded questions addresses my problem. I hope you have a suggestion for me. Thanks Toni
@ Mohammad Ana’s.....Jonas. Hold the information button* for 3 seconds until all buttons are lit, and then press the information button* again. It will then print you out a Wireless Quick Start Up Guide for connecting multiple devices to your printer!
One interesting obscure fact is that your computer and printer have to be on the same network to be able to do scanning. If your computer is on a wired connection that has a router with wi-fi access point also on the same wired network, the two can connect to print, but not scan. The easy way to fix that is to connect the computer to the router wi-fi, so its on the same network as the printer. But good luck getting that information out of HP help or the manual. With my system, going from the wired connection to the router wi-fi connection knocks my internet speed from about 90 Mbps to well under 20 Mbps. My router is an N interface and about three feet from my computer. HP needs to fix that "same network" limitation with a software upgrade, or at least make the USB port work fully.
Do you HAVE to use the HP app on your computer? My firewall won't allow me to install that app, but will the laptop be able to print directly using the USB 2.0 cable?
just bought this printer. It is connected to my laptop but when I inserted the ink cartridges and closed the lid it flashes an E for error. I don't know what I have done. I have tried reinserting the cartridges etc., but nothing works. Pease help!

does anyone know what type of USB cord/cable this uses? I'm having trouble setting up the wifi connection between the printer and my laptop and it says you can connect using a USB CABLE. I tried two different USB cables I have on hand and none seem to fit the back of the printer slot. It looks more square than flat.
Question : do people leave printer on after use? Or turn off after each use? Reason I ask is because if I leave on the lights keep flashing and it seems a waste of power if I’m not using but if I turn it off I have to go through the whole connecting to Wi-Fi process again.
I'm a teacher and I'm looking to purchase on of these for my classroom. I don't see a rear input tray. Would I be able to put avery labels through the printer without it or do you think it would get stuck?
Just brought and installed the printer today I have put paper in the paper tray closed the tray. I went to print and got a message on both my mobile app and laptop saying tray open 😳🙄😡 please help
At times the paper tray sensor does malfunction. I would recommend pulling the tray all the way out and closing it again. If that doesn’t clear the error, I would recommend returning it, as it is probably defective.
When setting up by mobile phone, you got to the step of adding wifi, yours was the vortex, what if i have no wifi? I wanted to use this printer strictly with my phone as i have no other wifi or service. Just straight talk that my phone runs on. Will this printer do that? Thank you for your help.
I'm sorry I bought this unit. I'm living in an RV waiting for a home to be built, so I bought a Chromebook (big mistake) and this HP6055. You would think that in 2021, this would be a plug and play set up, but I'm still trying to get the printer to print. The Chromebook recognized the 6055 when I went thru the settings to "add printer", then I could scan, copy, but can't print. The lack of a small screen is very annoying versus my larger HP printer in storage that I'm very used to and miss. Those eggheads at HP need to get a life and stop trying to be "cool" with their flashing lights, etc. My wife hates the light on all the time and puts a pillow in front of it to block the light.
@@Reviewlamp I'm taking both the Chromebook and the HP 6055 back to Best Buy to the Geek Squad and if they can't get it to print, they'll be owning a 6055. I've used HP printers for decades with no problem. I even downloaded the HP Smart app, went thru the menu of supported printers and guess what, the HP Envy 6000 series was NOT included. I don't want to have to navigate 4 levels of menus to print one stupid page. And those dumb colored lights! Heck, the ON/OFF switch is in the back of the unit, so you have to feel around for it. Your videos are very good and in the normal course of events, they "idiot proof" the process. Maybe I need to just have a couple of beers and things will be much clearer for me. UPDATE: Bought an Epson Workforce Pro 3820. Geek Squad recommended this unit that has a screen and is compatible with Chromebook. A little bulkier, but I'll take it.
I had this printer and it worked great for 2 months now it says it can't connect to wifi. All the HP solutions point to hitting the WiFi reset button. Only problem is my printer doesn't have one! Any ideas? HP has been no help so far

I get to the "add printer" page and it isn't able to find a printer. It tells me to turn on my wifi or bluetooth. I'm stuck.

The key is to make sure your phone is connected to your home’s wifi network before you begin setting the printer up.

What if mine isn’t printing in color and I don’t have the option to when I try printing?
Then there is an issue with the printer. It definitely should have the option to print in color

You can certainly load Avery labels into the main paper tray. I recommend removing the regular paper from the paper tray when loading labels.

At times the paper tray sensor does malfunction. I would recommend pulling the tray all the way out and closing it again. If that doesn’t clear the error, I would recommend returning it, as it is probably defective.
When setting up by mobile phone, you got to the step of adding wifi, yours was the vortex, what if i have no wifi? I wanted to use this printer strictly with my phone as i have no other wifi or service. Just straight talk that my phone runs on. Will this printer do that?

Yes it can do Wifi directly. You should connect to the network called HP-Direct..,

I'm sorry I bought this unit. I'm living in an RV waiting for a home to be built, so I bought a Chromebook (big mistake) and this HP6055. You would think that in 2021, this would be a plug and play set up, but I'm still trying to get the printer to print. The Chromebook recognized the 6055 when I went thru the settings to "add printer", then I could scan, copy, but can't print. The lack of a small screen is very annoying versus my larger HP printer in storage that I'm very used to and miss. Those eggheads at HP need to get a life and stop trying to be "cool" with their flashing lights, etc. My wife hates the light on all the time and puts a pillow in front of it to block the light.

@@Reviewlamp I'm taking both the Chromebook and the HP 6055 back to Best Buy to the Geek Squad and if they can't get it to print, they'll be owning a 6055. I've used HP printers for decades with no problem. I even downloaded the HP Smart app, went thru the menu of supported printers and guess what, the HP Envy 6000 series was NOT included. I don't want to have to navigate 4 levels of menus to print one stupid page. And those dumb colored lights! Heck, the ON/OFF switch is in the back of the unit, so you have to feel around for it. Your videos are very good and in the normal course of events, they "idiot proof" the process. Maybe I need to just have a couple of beers and things will be much clearer for me. UPDATE: Bought an Epson Workforce Pro 3820. Geek Squad recommended this unit that has a screen and is compatible with Chromebook. A little bulkier, but I'll take it.

Try connecting it to your wifi network using your smartphone and the HP smart app. Then try the windows setup and it should work.
I had this printer and it worked great for 2 months now it says it can't connect to wifi. All the HP solutions point to hitting the WiFi reset button. Only problem is my printer doesn't have one! Any ideas? HP has been no help so far
