Hide and flesh added a bit but the skull is still 'wet'. When they are cleaned and dried, bones are far more brittle. Live/ hydrated bone flexes a bit before it breaks. Also having a brain in the skull will support it a lot and will reduce the flex, preventing a break at higher impact forces.
@Daniel Gregson I see you found the video I just recommended to you in your other comment. This one give a little better idea how it would do with flesh and bone but I’m gonna have to repeat this with the magnum. And yeah… the fly shot was crazy!!!
Just subbed to your channel. 2 things: Would a pig or boar head be an easier find? The Whisper fusion Mach 1 piston is the tweener Gamo rifle. The New Bone Collector Gen2 uses the Mach 1 piston in a great wood stock with Gen 2 swarm magazines. At $300-330, it is the best most accurate Gamo ever and worth a review!
@Gman Neo’d I finally found someone willing to give me a buck head they are not going to mount. So… will hopefully have that test done in a few weeks! I’ve not shot the fusion yet. Would love to try one but I don’t know anyone who has one.
Was really hoping you were gonna move in closer even at 40 it would of been interesting to see. Good videos !! I commented on your other video about adding hyde and muscle to the bull skull and seeing the results .. using the deer was even better . I see way more deer than Angus bulls on a daily basis lol
@user-ex3di3dd2s At a quick glance, it seems the DX and the whisper are pretty much the same. Gamo has a habit of doing that. They make slight changes to appearance and resale the same air rifle.
It will be harder to penetrate than a live subject due to the rigamortus and the tenseness in the meat, unless it’s old enough to outright putrefy, it’s going to act like beef jerky. Still, I’m definitely surprised by the results. Thanks for the video
Rigamortus only lasts about 2-3 days after death and this Deer head was from last season lol. The “wet”skull is definitely more resistant than dried up bone. It went from penetrating straight thru a black bear skull to barely cracking the deer head.
@Eric Paul Alex Looks like there are a few possible angles but I would not recommend actually using it on a deer. Check your local game laws. It may not even be legal. It is not legal in Virginia.
another exciting and interesting video sir...you'd definitely have to try this "deer head with its meat and skin shooting" using our gamo swarm magnum .22 cal gen 2!!! I insist please!!! I sure hope it would not take too long time of waiting sir... more power, stay safe and God bless...
@Jim Olarte Thank you! I am most definitely going to try and find another animal target. Not everyone saved their deer heads and those who did typically don’t want to give them away but I’m looking!
@@HuntShootLive just wanted to let you know brother because of your advice and the guidance that you provided, I perfect just my gamma swarm whisper this morning. Looking forward to dialing in doing a little bit of squirrel hunt
@Everette Welch I’m very glad you found it helpful! The Whisper is a great break barrel pellet rifle. Much more enjoyable to shoot than the magnum in my opinion. I hope you like it!
@@HuntShootLive I see gamo has a signal shot version of the magnum only thing I hate about it. Is it has a wooden stock but I rather have a single shot than that magazine nice video cant wait until you do the other video with the fresh material
No doubt the swarm magnum is more powerful , but the swarm whisper is more practical to hunt with due to its light weight, shorter length, easy to cock , and most importantly more accurate than the swarm magnum. And also one thing else , gamo exaggerated on the cheek riser on the swarm magnum , it slaps your cheek every time you take a shot. There is however an in between gamo rifle between the swarm whisper and the swarm magnum which is the gamo whisper fusion mach1, it is a single loader but it is the most accurate of all gamo rifles , it’s the top of gamos line, it is a 21-22 flb gun just in between the power of the whisper and the magnum. It is the most good looking gamo rifle ever.
@Paul Karkorian I definitely like my whisper better than the magnum. Primarily because it feels so much better to shoot. I think the magnum jerks too much. A very unnatural recoil. I have never got to shoot a fusion. Hope to be able to try one out!
@Nigel Monaireo Check out my air rifle playlist. I have a recent video testing on a fresh kill whitetail. To answer your question directly, no. I have many much more capable weapons to shoot a deer with. Even a 22 lr would be much preferable.
I just got this and as soon as I opened the packaging I thought 'oh shit, she a big girl' and she sturdy. Honestly I wanted a simple rifle just to plink in my backyard but went for a .22 to maybe try my hand at hunting small game, but I live in the city (and one that's uptight with arms in general) and this rifle is overkill for the size of my backyard for plinking. I have neighbors on two sides on second floor apartments, I don't need them freaking out and calling the law on me 🤣 Gonna gift it to a pal and get a weak springer to plink in the backyard. Anyone thinking of getting it that has the space or area to fire it comfortably without anyone freaking out should go for it, and for less than $150 you can't go wrong.
@Lance Uppercut Yes it is a little louder than you would expect. You should hear the Magnum! It’s hard to beat an old crosman or daisy pump for quiet backyard plinking. And I’ve killed squirrel and rabbit with an old pump no problem with head shots at 20ish yards.
Coyote killed with old .177 air rifle slightly weaker than the Gamo Whisper from 20 yards away. ruclips.net/video/hFChoKH4Scg/видео.html So, yes, the Gamo Whisper .177 can kill a coyote from 20 yards away.
this is definitely the start of a serial killer!? nahh j k 😂 bro your videos are great your more like leonardo da vinci straight genius video.. I enjoy them and have a swarm whisper and you taught me alot thanks GOD bless
Thanks for your videos. Do these examples suggest any lethality on a live animal, like a doe whitetail? I imagine it would just make the bear mad. 😊 FYI, I own several .22 LR, one .22 WMR and three .30 cal rifles (ok, .30-30, .308 and.30-06), plus several 12 ga and .410 scatterguns, BUT, I just picked up Wally clearance .22 Swarm Whisper and.177 Swarm Maxxim, last night. I am eager to see how these Gamo air rifles compare in fun factor with my rimfire. Absolutely, adore your vocal turkey. He adds extra flavor and fun to your videos! Grace and Peace
@mpdjr77 Thank you for watching and for the comment! I would not recommend using the gamo on anything other than small game. There are much better calibers for the other animals. My penetration tests are just for information and for fun. Regarding my turkey, his lot was destroyed by a black bear and it killed him. I was very upset.
@@HuntShootLive Thank you for your response. I have larger rimfire and center fire rifles and shotguns for larger-scale hunting, but was just curious about high-power pellet rifles on smaller NC whitetail does, based on your penetration demonstrations. I am so saddened about Tom’s demise. I, genuinely, hope that you can obtain a Bear Stamp and avenge poor Tom’s demise. He was an amazingly adorable part of your videos. I, truly, mourn your loss. Funny thing, that - I would have never imagined myself caring so much for a turkey before hearing Tom’s participation in your pleasant videos. Grace and Peace
When you do the deer head Swarm Magnum test try using slugs. The accuracy, penetration/fpe and effective distance should be better. Thanks. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.
@Ken Fan I did a skull test with the magnum but I didn’t have the deer head. I have a few other pellet options for the magnum when I’m able to get another deer head. Those are hard to come by when it’s not deer season!

This is a really great test. Looking forward to the swarm magnum next.
@Lorne Dulworth Thank you! I’m trying to acquire a head. Tough time of year to find one!
It is a big diference between a dry skal and a fresh bone...
lol the bug at 4:46 on the bear skull was really unlucky.
@Isaac Ethan R Someone else mentioned that to me. I’m gonna have to go back and check that out!!! I should say I meant to do that! Haha!!!
I saw the above comment just after seeing that fly get shot. I thought it was excellent marksmanship! LoL!

Alot of work put into this vid!!!!great job!!!
@dironiza reyes Thank you! Thank you for watching!!!
Have you ever chrono the FPS with the modded 1550regulator on that virtus? What grain pellet did you use?
@dironiza reyes I’m shooting the whisper in this vid. I chronoed it at 750 I believe and the swarm magnum at 900.
Two things I learned here:
1) I'm getting a Swarm Magnum for that little bit extra
2) I need a pet turkey
@Clayton Campbell You probably need the magnum more than the turkey!!! They like to talk… all the time.
should try a 177 they penetrate hard surfaces easier cause the cross section density is less and velocity is higher
Doesn't the .22 magnum have the same FPS?
I think the Diana 460 magnum too would do the same damage.. Very nice and interesting video 👍
@J L Thank you! Someone else mentioned the Diana in another comment. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Just bought a new one from Amazon hope it doesn't disappoint

Is that a Leupold scope?
@TDSgeek I believe that is a Tasco.

The deer, bear and cow skulls were shot at 50 yards
The deer head with skin was shot at 50 and 20 yards
Around 4: 47, it looked like he hit a fly. Incredible
@Eli Timmons He gave me a great spot to aim at!
So at 20 yards and behind the ear is best for deer hunting with any of the Gamo rifles?

@@HuntShootLive Cool I'm from Maryland. Western Maryland hunting season has begun.
