    Awesome video. Please consider doing the other cycles!!! There is a unmet need in youtubeland for these kind of videos - even when its possible to find full TFA, dunwich or carcosa player card reviews, they're 3-5 years old so the meta has changed.

    Shocked he put the composure as good. Yeah its 3 exp but 4 points of soak thats fast and 0 resources is PRETTY GOOD, esp when it boosts 2 stats.

      If it was simply a fast slot-less 4 soak for 0, it would be good.

    I don't get what so broken about Pocket Telescope? Active abillity is super strong, but not on a busted level. Exhaust abillity let's you look on revealed side of a location but it doesn't say that it reveals the location itself. So you still need to enter the location/spend clues to eneter location, becaus otherwise there a no clues on the location to discover them from connecting location.
    What am I missing?

    I had a lot of fun playing Close the Circle and Cheat the System in Dexter. I don't think they're necessarily better than other options, but they are functional. Dexter being able to throw close the circle down makes the card feel a lot less expensive in terms of tempo, and getting one or two free actions (and another from Eon Chart) really makes you feel like Sonic the Hedgehog. Your friends will feel like you're a turtle, though, deciding what to do with all those actions.

    • @ZovcDrafts
      @ZovcDrafts Год назад

      And, never forget that you can do a draw or a resource action with close the circle, if you don't want to do anything else.

    Nice review! I’m an hour in, and my only shock is at unearth the ancients 2 - a staple economy upgrade for me in most seeker decks. Being able, instead of taking two setup actions, to unearth say hiking boots and a dream diary, or a scroll of secrets, or a dream-enhancing serum, or a lab assistant - there are so many useful assets seekers play, this is analogous to not playing scavenging (2) in a scavenging Minh - saves lots of actions!

      I'm definitely harder on it because it goes against my playstyle, the idea of needing a card to play my other cards in my opening mulligan doesn't spark joy, so I'm more down on it because of that.

      It needs Survivor's recursion to be good, though. But in any Yorick or Scavenging (2) deck, it is pure gold. Also, good in a combo with Backpack and Geared Up. In a vacuum, it's an Emergency Cash, that needs 2 resources upfront and has the restriction to spend it on Item assets, at the upside, that you can spend it on other players. But in air, I also often run it.

    Foresight is definitely great IMO. If you have ANY encounter deck control, like Scrying or Parallel Fates, it becomes a free, 1 XP version of Ward of Protection 5 that you can use on other investigators and don't have to take horror for. Plus the fact that anytime you search a deck for a card it still counts as drawing it.

    Is this the best place to do a video suggestion?
    Revisiting EOTE made me remember - I >really< don't like the way the Investigators from this box advance. While I think Norman and Monterey suffer the least, I genuinely think Lily, Bob and Daniela (especially) suffer from having to move away from their base class.
    To that end - would ya'll like to do a campaign runthrough some time where you play the EOTE investigators (specifically Daniela included) as Primary Class 0-5, Secondary Class 0-2 instead of their actual rules? I'd love to see how differently they play with 'normal' deckbuilding.
    I just had a rough time with Daniela and all the best cards she would LOVE to play, she can't because she's a 'Survivor' instead of a Guardian. It's personal lol

    I played Meditative Trance on Agnes with 5 Arcane Slots filled and it felt gooood for my sanity going all the way up. It was very fun and very easy to get those spaces, it's not a staple for Mystics but it is for a couple of builds.
    Another use of Meditative Trance is with Lily Chen going for Arcane Slots with her Dragon Pole and then using Blood Eclipse as an off Spell for damage and then healing back

      @@kingcole5977 Sure, I was going for the Synergy built, I was Flex.
      I was playing 2x Shrivelings, 1x Blur, 2x Divination, 1x Earthly Serenity and 1x Close the Circle as my Arcane Slots.
      To open them up I was playing 1x Sign Magick, 2x Familiar Spirit, 1x The Hierophant Tarot
      To heal outside of the Earthly Serenity I was using 2x Meditative Trance and 2x Fearless.
      I was playing the version of 25 cards of Agnes so the deck was thin enough to see it all during a single gameplay.
      Other cards were 2 Spectral Razors and 2 Drawn to the Flame. Oh, and of course 2 Forbidden Knowledge.

    I have a question based on something that you mentioned a lot in this video. If the card pool is so big that players aren't afraid of what the game can throw at them anymore, then what kinds of things are there that still cause players to lose?

    Haven't watched the whole video yet, but I'm really surprised that Unearth the Ancients is rated so low. Just pretend that the relic clause isn't on the card, don't try so hard to get it, and treat it as a card that gives you 1-2 actions, 3-4 resources and a clue. The economy and action compression of this card is actually insane. I don't mean this offensive and this is a serious question, but have you actually tried the card? Because I was sceptical at first when I saw it, but after trying it I can see how crazy good this card is. The only downside is that it costs 2 XP in an XP-hungry class, but if you need the economy, this is one of the best options.

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Год назад

      I've played it and seen it played and it hasn't really impressed me like other cards have. Beyond that though, it is not a card that I enjoy the playstyle of, because I personally don't like my economy cards to require other cards to actually be economy. So it's rated lower than it probably should be for me personally because of that. I am not a fan of it.

    To me Enchanted Bow is hot garbage. I haven't seen any investigators, especially in the survivor mystic pool, that do not use hand slots and do not use arcane slots either. And if you are a character that doesn't use those slots, do you really want to use it for something that deals 2 damage on exhaust? For 2 experience???

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Год назад +1

      While I have not played it, I know Travis is a believer in it. I'd love to see it in a flex Gloria because she can get away without using both spell slots and still get clues well.

    • @Bsli81
      @Bsli81 Год назад

      @@PlayingBoardGames Yes, but wouldn't she be better off with clueing spells and fighting spells? She can add healing, or the new doom things into her hand slot (yes, the doom things were not available when this came out).
      You could put together a seeker package for clues with events and skills, and use this and Brand for damage, but I would still rather rely more on spells and a sword cane.
      Having 2 bows equals 2 brands and 2 divinations in exp :(
      I wish it was either cheaper, or give you a choice which slot you want it to take up.

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Год назад +1

      While all of this is certainly true, the bow being able to hit adajcent spaces gives perks that other cards you mentioned don't have. It's a utility form of flex, not a 50/50 form of flex. If a bow can kill an acolyte on an adjacent space, it has saved an action all those other cards can't.

    • @Bsli81
      @Bsli81 Год назад

      @@PlayingBoardGames I'm starting to realize that most of the opinion differences I think come from the player count. I almost exclusively play with 2 players, and I think a niche role there, is a no-go. I definitely see niche applications for it. I would not make a campaign deck with it. Maybe just use it for a standalone where I know it can do its best, which is to save 3 actions.

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Год назад +2
