@RuffSenpai My guy, Toei are adapting one full chapter every episode. The pacing is a bit better now, i don't know if you notice but every episode is a one full chapter adaptation

I disagree with you and others about the timing of Komurasaki's sections. Because of there down mood it builds into the comedy of the scenes after.
Like having a straight man and joker combo set up where the punchline is the reaction of the straight man just in reverse.
That being said I do not feel the same about the Raizo placement. I did not ever care about his part because I never came to care much about Raizo... he never had the screen time for me to see him as more than a joke.
Hiyori on the other hand I did want to see her vengeance. Whats worse for a power hungry Man child than a slow realization that he is currently powerless and being mocked by what he sees as basically a whore. Only for a pair of betrayals to finish him off while your greatest foes theme song plays menacingly in the background.
Then again tone shifting rarely bothers me.
Luffy's laughter is the most contagious thing ever. My boy was just laughing his butt off the whole episode 🤣

Luffy’s voice actor killed it in this episode. The laughter was so perfect. It was joyful and fun while still being intimidating and intense. Just nailed it. Can’t wait for the fight of next episode

Although I expected it... in the back of my mind, all I can think is: It's so powerful, that it even changed the Animation Style of the Fight~ xD
I pretty expected everything I have read some parts of the gear 5 manga so idk the rest of the fight, but im excited to see them in action, like very fucking excited. no matter how messy and confusing think the animation, is it has made me at awe and gasp on how amazing, smooth and accurate this animation is, it is what oda have drawn and envisioned and this takes it up a notch. This is simply one of the best masterpieces of anime history
no matter how many times I re-read this scene on the manga, it always feels satisfying and excited to watch the animation
its a rare case of the animation being better then manga. only animation can fully capture the vibe of joyboy gear 5 looney tunes
ep.1071 is special not only for the reveal of Gear 5 but also for the realization of Oda's dream of bringing smiles to people so the animation has a more Cartoon style

One of the scary things about Kaido is that even if everyone there attacked him once, 99.9% of them couldn’t get past his skin 😳
That’s why Kaido and Big Mom will always be insanely strong to me, they were superhuman!
Yeah all the legends from the past, Roger, Newgate, Kaido, Big Mom etc. are monsters for all the new generation, they first need to have conquerors haki and plus need to know how to infuse their atacks with it just to be a match, the only one capable of that in this battle is Luffy, maybe Zoro but he is already spent

Yeah, only Marco I’d think would stand a decent chance against him. Law and Kidd were too battered and broken to fight any longer.
Honestly only have 2 complaints:
1. They could have moved Hiyori's scene to the start of the episode so that it didn't throw of the hype and momentum of Gear 5
2. They reused the exact same animation 3 times of Luffy bouncing around and twirling without any changes in a short amount of time. It was a bit too obvious
Still, I'm happy to see Gear 5, and I am glad to be a One Piece fan! On to the next episode!
The scene with Hiyori scene is the same in the manga, in between Luffy's transformation and him fighting Kaido. But I agree with reusing the same animation because they really don't have to do that. My other complaint is when Luffy blocked Kaido's blast by bending the ground, there are too many camera angles and it's too fast that it's hard to know what's going on.
But overall this is a great episode.
@@D__634and that’s why he is saying the anime could’ve made it better by rearranging the scenes and putting the hiyori scene in the beginning so it doesn’t throw off the momentum. Still a great episode

Tunrs out Luffys laughter was Joyboys this entire time. I LOVE that they didnt change his voice almost at all, meaning since his first silly or dumb moment Luffy has been joyboy... or perhaps its better said that joyboy is Luffy. ^^
I think that the Hiyori part should be before luffy's heartbeat started in 1070. Like she said "Dawn will come" and then we get Drums of Liberation then it would be more epic...imo!!!!
In my years of watching, reading One Piece I didn't cry, but today. TODAY I CRIED TEARS OF JOY!!!!

Mayumi Tanaka's voice acting is so good in gear 5. Like it's Luffy but slightly different with the uncontrolable laughter and the enhancing of Luffy's base personality

I think my favorite moment is when Luffy sends that blast breath back at Kaido and we see Kaido been charred black and then he exhales black smoke, like from old cartoons. Makes me laugh every time. And Luffy clapping his feet. I was hoping for the William Hanna Tom-scream though. Maybe next episode when Kaido starts doing some damage back.

I love how other character's powers let them break the fourth wall, like deadpool and suchlike
but Luffy actually has a *power* that breaks the fourth wall and affects outside of his own fiction
Everyone that I've seen talk about G5 does so with a big smile that they just can't seem to shake. Luffy really is JoyBoy in this form. That's fucking insane.
This is so different from other transformations cuz it isnt serious or achieved from anger or stuff. Its meant for joy and laughter which it damn well did for me

Dude the fn smile Luffy had at the end with the wavy hair right after zunesha said “Joyboy has returned” is my absolute favorite episode ending ever. That smile sent chills down my spine like no other

Nami is an incredible character. Like the rest of the crew, she always has faith to her captain and believes Luffy will be win and she teary accused Kaido for lying even she faces her death. And thanks to her words, Luffy has started the awakening and the drums of liberation are playing.

The Gear 5 is what I have expected since one year ago. That was hilarious and awesome. I like how Oda has inspired that power of the Looney Tunes. His laugh was very contagious and I couldn't breath anymore when my lungs ate getting hurt because of laughing. Also, I was surprisingly shocked when I found out that the Gomu Gomu no Mi wasn't not, but the Mithological Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika. When I heard it I got the Enel's shocked face.

This episode was pure chaos! Very fitting for Gear5😂 Luffy looked positively Psychotic 💀
Everything except the Hiyori scene and flashbacks was PERFECT. We all felt the Hiyori scene was misplaced in the manga back then too after that reveal.
This transformation was by far the most epic and perfect which matched the character so Goldman well
to be fair, the hiyori scene also happened in the exact same chapter for like 3-4 pages, so it's just doing what the manga did.
The way they episode animated this episode like a looney toon’s episode was hilarious. Truly ridiculous
The term JoyBoy makes so much sense to me now. I was literally laughing my ass off the whole time luffy was on screen.
I loved how maniacal and insane luffys laughing was.
Very hard to top this episode. The whole drums of liberation sound and classic cartoon animation, shows how much passion and skills are behind one piece.
His powers make perfect sense. All the gears were luffy getting closer to awakening his fruit and since its based on imagination, now it adds up how luffy came up with the gears
I got whole body chills when I watched this. Whatever we thought the animation was going to look like…we thought wrong.

The intro was cut short, I love the way Kaido's eyes kept popping out of his head, muscles, and everything Gear 5 is amazing

Naruto: sacrificing a bestfriend out of desperation
Goku: got beat tf up & anger
Ichigo: anger
Gon: anger & sadness
So on & so on I keep going but this transformation lives up to the name “joyboy” freedom and to make people smile

Alr after this episode I realised that Oda might be alr hinting or foreshadowing that Luffy is the Sun God Nika / Joyboy in the beginning of the anime you all remember that in the beginning Luffy free Koby of Avda (don't mind my spelling) he free Zoro from the marine, free Usoop from the guy idk his name forgot lol, he also free Nami from Arlong, Chopper Kingdom from Warpoll, Sanji from his family and BM, free Albasata from Crocodile, Skypira from Enel, Dressorosa from Doffy, the fishman from Hody Robin from the World Government, Brook from his past, Jibei from BM and Wano from Kaido and more like everywhere he goes he brings joy and freedom to the people and the Sun God is the mythical warrior of freedom.
Im so glad i found someone who feel the same way about this episode that i do, i feel like everywhere i look there is hate about the cartoony style. i really love it!
i personally love it soo much!! i feel like some people dont like it because they either only like serious stuff, or just arent used to seeing this type of animation. this is completely unique to the genre of anime so it makes sense for some people to not like it on first watch. especially if they didnt grow up with old cartoons, the animators absolutely killed the warner bros style

I mean with everything going on and everyone losing their shit over Nikas reveal, I barely hear people talking about that amazing outro... seriously one of the best outros I heard so far, really love it
I feel like Luffys devil fruit represents freedom of imagination, creativity and fun, it is funny that the world government is trying to get a hold of it but can never really do it, they say it's almost like the devil fruit is evading them. It feels like a comparison to censorship, you can never suppress human nature (plus the fruit is the human human fruit, it makes even more sense), you can never stop the people from using their imagination(the way Luffy fought also is very cartoonish and "unrealistic/impossible" but still through the power of imagination and creativity, we see luffy making it possible), maybe the one piece is related to that, the one piece may be the ability to imagine, it surely is a treasure to humans. We can see that through out the anime, one piece is filled with creative personas, places, clothes, prespectives, etc, all that comes from one place, our heads.
Luffys a goofball who just wants to have fun and eat food. The way they animated it and had him go about just laughing and smiling all the time was perfect for his character in my mind
I love the way that other authors trying to make their MC looks badass while simply copying other Japanese Manga works and here is Oda, created his own version of what MC should be. I still can't recover from that epic G E A R 5 introductions within the episode

JOY BOY is defined as the joy of a boy, so it's a nickname for someone who always smiles like Luffy's habit, the nickname is strengthened by the real name hito hito no mi NIKA, which the Gorosei explained and from Luffy's behavior who always laughs and is happy.
Laugh Tale might be the location of the civilization where the first Joy Boy came from where everyone there was always happy full of smiles and laughter with the silliness of the first Joy Boy, that's why Roger wanted to live in the world of the first Joy Boy, because he already knew the story and laughed, Gold D Roger when see the island.
