    I heavily starched my fabric, ironed it to crispness, then ran it through the printer with no problem. I used Word to create the label message and printed as usual for paper.

    I use printer sticker sheets, they stick beautifully to the fabric. You can usually buy it quite cheaply at dollar stores.

      I think that's a fantastic idea, thanks for sharing! I love great dollar store finds!

    Ok, when I tried this the fabric got stuck in my printer too!! WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! I will try again and make sure the fabric is really attached well and see how it goes! Thanks for this video!

      Yes! Totally normal, and it's the worst! If it keeps happening, you may need to use a different printer (still ink) OR buy those fabric sheets that are meant for the printer. Keep me updated on how it goes!

    What software do you use to design the label? How do you make the triangle labels?

    • @quiltdstudios
      @quiltdstudios  2 года назад

      I design mine in Canva, but you can use Word, or any word processing software! I have these labels for free on my website so you can try them out, let me know how it goes!

    Are you using an inkjet printer for this? (If the ink cartridges are under $30, it's an inkjet). I can't imagine it's a laser jet? (As someone who used to sell toner and married a copier salesman, these are things someone like me thinks of 🤣). I have a laser jet, and I don't want to ruin it; it's an expensive printer... But I would consider buying a cheesy inkjet at the thrift store to try this out. This is a great idea!

    • @quiltdstudios
      @quiltdstudios  Год назад

      Yes - this is an inkjet, I don't think a laser printer would work. I would definitely recommend trying it on a less expensive printer because a few of mine always get jammed, which is awful haha Some people have great luck with using those sheets of fabric printer paper that you can pick up at craft stores.

    Did you use a laser printer or a inkjet printer ?? Love the video !!!

      great question, Inkjet! I'm not sure the Laser would deposit the ink into the fabric :)

    Does your treatment of the material with Rit prevent the label from fading if it is washed?

    • @quiltdstudios
      @quiltdstudios  Год назад +1

      Great question, it will fade a little when washed but I've found that the dye fixative really helps maintain it over time. So it may lose the original printed crispness but everything will still be visible on the tag. For quilts that you'll wash a lot, maybe consider applying a few layers of vinegar or fixative (ironing in between) and letting the ink really set for a few weeks before washing, I hope this helps!

    Jessica, what is the vinegar ratio, ie vinegar and water or 100% vinegar?

    • @quiltdstudios
      @quiltdstudios  2 года назад +2

      Good question, 100% vinegar and I had success with a new technique, I got another piece of fabric wet with vinegar and laid it on top of the labels and pushed down until it just barely soaked through, it didn't cause any bleeding! This is after I heat set the labels with an iron for like five minutes!

    How do I get my name on the label?

    • @quiltdstudios
      @quiltdstudios  2 года назад +1

      Great question! You can open the PDF Download in a word document, use a transparent text box and put your name into the blank areas. The exact fonts that I used are available to download in the blog post on my website! I hope this helps!
