    In Australia it’s harder getting freezer paper and we have A4 sized paper. A tip is to stick an A4 sticky label to your fabric, trim the fabric to size and put it through your printer. Works well.

    Love this, thank you. I once photo copied a wedding invitation onto fabric with my name, date and quilt name for a wedding quilt gifted.

    Very late to to this video, but great information. Thanks! I use freezer paper for labels, but I write with fabric pens. Good idea about the printer. I’ll give it a go.

    Wait so this doesn’t fade in the wash? That’s amazing. What about an Ecotank printer?

    Thank you for sharing your method! I hadn't thought of this and since I just got a scan & cut, I'm going to incorporate your method with that. That is I'd I can print it instead of embroidering it. Thanks so much!!!♡♡♡

    Always label, so far hand written, usually pieced in the backing prior to quilting which means label is there forever

    How does the ink hold up over time? Does it withstand washing?

    LOL, I don't think I've labeled any of my quilts 🙈 I tend to make them only for babies I know so they can be pretty easily dated.
    I really like this method. So easy. I might have to start doing this.

      The labels wash fairly well too. I admit I don’t always label baby quilts because I know they’ll be well loved.

    You have to make sure if using Ink Jet printer that the ink is the kind that has pigment in it or it will not be permanent when you wash or if it gets wet unless you use a fabric medium over top of it. Ask me how I know lol.

    Do you treat the labels with anything so they don't wash away? My inkjet printer ink bleeds when it gets wet.

    • @AQuiltingJewel
      @AQuiltingJewel  4 года назад +1

      I don't treat my labels and haven't had an issue. I don't wash my quilts very often though. Are you heat setting your label with an iron first? That may help.

    Can these be printed with a laser printer vs an ink jet printer?

    • @AQuiltingJewel
      @AQuiltingJewel  3 года назад +1

      I have seen others do it, but I personally have never attempted it and don't have any advice on how to ensure the ink is set properly. You could always do a test and before attaching it to a quilt see how it would hand wash after setting it with your iron. Personally I'd wait a week or so between printing and washing too. But that's just me. Let me know if you try it. I'd love to know!

    Do you heat set after printing?

    • @AQuiltingJewel
      @AQuiltingJewel  3 года назад

      Yes, I do heat set after printing. That being said, I generally don't wash my quilts since most are wall or show quilts. So I can't speak to the washability of the labels.

    But! Can you wash ?

    • @AQuiltingJewel
      @AQuiltingJewel  2 года назад

      Yes, you can! I'd wait about 10 days or so, personally. And I like to heat set the ink with an iron just to be safe.
