I have an embroidery machine and will make my own labels- To so and so, for what purpose , ex wedding, will add the name of the quilt pattern/BOM ex SEW WITH ME 2023, made by with my name, city and state, and month and year completed. I will occasionally include a button sewn onto the label from "just another button company" , and will also include my fabric purchased label if I don't embroider my name, and sometimes add some ribbon or lace. So many options that may depend on the recipient or purpose. Sometimes i make a triangle fold and place it in the corner--depends on quilt size. Thanks for sharing your idea!
I purchased mine from Etsy! I've purchased from the same store each time. I think she does great work, and they ship fast to. I've also purchased from my local quilt shop. Of course, those don't have my name on them. But they are cute and very funny! I'll have to get more when I go to the Quilt and Sewing Festival next weekend. Thanks Erica!!😉💐
Thanks for the tutorial Erica. It’s great to see different ideas for labeling a quilt. Like the look of the layering. Will have to try that next time. Thanks again.
What perfect timing! I’m making 3 throw-size quilts for grandkids (5, 3 & 1), out of their great grandfather’s shirts, and was trying to figure out a way to put their names on them. Thank you so much for this!
I have been using my embroidery machine for a simple label with my name, pattern information and the date. I love to try printing my own labels. I like the way you did the two tone fabrics, I'm going to give that part a try also! Thank you, Erica!💕
I love my tagged from Sweetwater labels. I generally go with the subscription until I build up a good amount and selection of labels and then take a break for awhile till I make a dent in my supply and then restart my subscription. I’ve not found any other labels I enjoy and that I feel is as quality and lasting as these tagged labels 💕
I needed this little tutorial. I am a new quilter and have been making projects as gifts. I got personalized labels from Etsy and haven't labled the 3 quilts I have made this last year as I wasn't sure to attach before or after quilting. I like it after. Thanks for the pertinent tutorial!
Main problem I find is turning the quilt….or large throw….to stitch all four sides of the label. I ended up BACK stitching on the last one I did. Framing the label is a great idea. They look so much better. Thank you for your perfect instructions, as usual!
Love seeing Jax in your sewing room. Thank you for this video because you have given me so many creative ideas. I now have a subscription to Sweetwater because it is so much neater than what I have been doing. Love the layering and I will probably hand sew them to the back of my guilts after they come back from the longarm. I am in the middle of making a baby quilt and decided to layer some cute little Sweetwater animals to the top. Sew cute. Always look forward to your next quilting tutorial.
As always your tutorials are so straight forward, easy to understand and most of all, you get our creativity juices flowing with all the possibilities! Thanks Miss Erica. Have a terrific weekend Arndt Family. 🤗🤗
Great tutorial! My method is similar to yours, except after I fold back the fabric on the back of the label and iron it down, I use a little SeamAlign glue to keep everything in place. Lately, I've been making a small block from leftover fabric, and then I sew the Sweetwater label somewhere in the center.
Thank you so much for publishing this video!! I have been wanting a tutorial for adding labels and yours is perfect : ) I too have the sweetwater labels and I love them so much, now I need to get to sewing them on some of my previous quilts! Thanks again!
Hi Erica, Great tutorial, I haven't had the guts to sew a label onto a quilt I have already sent to the long arm. I have been trying to get it onto the back piece before sending it to the longarm, that way the label is attached and then quilted over so the label cannot be removed without ruining the quilting. I do have a quilt I need to add a label to that I did not label prior. I am going to give it a try. Thank you for the great ideas
These are really cute. I specifically love the double framed one. Well done! I am fairly new to quilting so I’ve yet to do this. You gave me great jump off point. Thank you!
So pretty love the payer et look. I do however like the idea of handwritting...I also like using extra blocks and incorporerating the info in the block. 5hanks again.
Instead of sewing the finished, stacked label on, and seeing the stitched from the front, could I use Heat 'n Bond on the back of that fabric and attach it to the quilt back? Would that hold well? I don't do hand stitching. Lol Thanks for this tutorial! 🩷
I sewed the label to the green fabric (see timestamp 7:55) and then I sewed the green fabric to the blue fabric, then the blue fabric to the quilt so it should stay put! :)
Erica, how do those labels by Sweetwater feel after they are on and have been washed? I have several of those but they feel scratchy. Does that change? I needed this video! Thanks!
They are fine, but still a bit stiffer than the other fabric, so you can tell there's a label on it. That said, you can also peel off the sticky side and just sew it in place. That will make it a bit softer after washing.
I love the way you added two fabrics behind your label. A zigzag stitch would show too much through to the front…unless it’s sewn on before it’s quilted…yours is.really nice. Thank you!
As always, your tutorials are warm, friendly and sooooo helpful!!!! Thanks, Erica.
Great idea! I love how you layered your fabrics. Thank you for another helpful tutorial.

Thanks for sharing. I have never thought of adding fabric to sweetwater labels. Will try now!

Great tutorial about to cut around the label when layering with fabrics.
I usually do an embroidered quilt label done with my embroidery machine. I have also embroidered a label by hand. Loved your tutorial!
Thanks for the tutorial Erica. It’s great to see different ideas for labeling a quilt. Like the look of the layering. Will have to try that next time. Thanks again.
Thanks for this! I love layering the quilt labels!
I love that you layer the labels, thank you. I use fabric glue or basting spray before sewing it down.
Oh great idea!

That was a really cute label. Thank you. I really enjoyed that.

I love your fabrics!
Love seeing Jax on your videos! 😊
Perfectly explained and very helpful! Thank you!
I was a bit confused, as I thought the label was paper, until the very end of this tutorial when you mentioned fabric label. You did a good job!
Thank you so much for publishing this video!! I have been wanting a tutorial for adding labels and yours is perfect : ) I too have the sweetwater labels and I love them so much, now I need to get to sewing them on some of my previous quilts! Thanks again!

Thank you for the tutorial Erica!
What a fun, fun tag option! Love both options!!
You give me confidence!!
Great tutorial! Thank you! I’ve always wanted to know the correct way to make it look great!
Thank you for making this ❤video. I was hoping you would do label RUclips video. I too love Sweet-water subscription.
I love your videos! I hate to pin and looks like you don't love it either. Thanks for showing us mistakes and how we can fix them!
Very easy to follow. ❤
Thank you for another great tutorial!!
Perfect! Thank you for this! Really cute.
very well explained thank you
Enjoy watching you ❤
Love to watch your videos. 🥰
Love this video- thank you
Great tutorial as usual! Thanks
I like sewing my label right into the binding so it’s harder to remove.
In like videos that show how to fix problems. Thank you
Great ideas I'll try!
Thank you so much. I love this!
Thank you Erica❤️❤️
Good job Erica
Thank you
Thank you for awesome video.💃

Thanks for this tutorial! 🩷
Hi, I suppose you could do that, I would still worry that it might come off over time, so I'd probably still stick it lol!
Great info!
Good morning Erica. Just wondering if you remember the name of the fabric on your iron board? Thank you for sharing your quilt label ideas.
Yes, it's My Happy Place Home Decor, you can get it here:
www.fatquartershop.com/my-happy-place-home-decor-cream-quilt-blocks-yardage
You sewed the two fabrics, but not the actual label? Will the glue hold up thru washings?
I sewed the label to the green fabric (see timestamp 7:55) and then I sewed the green fabric to the blue fabric, then the blue fabric to the quilt so it should stay put! :)

Where did you get the tiny sew in label? I don’t see those from sweet water.
It's linked below the video, but you can find it here as well sweetwater.cratejoy.com/subscribe/
Thank you so very much Erica
Exc!!! Tks!!👏👏👏🌹
Do you ever zigzag around th label?
Sure, you can definitely do that!

wow...this is helpful but you need to slow down when talking! ;)
