The mysterious echo-styled Hyrule Castle theme in the beginning... hole mother of god. That has to be THE best Zelda dungeon theme. You're in the final dungeon, with Ganondorf, the King of Evil, waiting upstairs. Everything feels so... empty. But you know Ganondorf is deep within the castle somewhere. And you hear this music. Man... I can't describe it. And the fact that it turns darker, AND that it slowly fades into Ganon's theme as you approach him... it's so FRIGGIN' AMAZING!
You pretty much nailed how I felt about it with this comment. You walk in there and it's so empty... and the music is a faint, familiar melody that seemingly echoes through its empty halls.. it's creepy, and it's damn effective in building tension.
I can only play this game on gamecube, the hd remake looks like a very toned down version due to graphic enhancements, while gamecube graphics brought fear out of me
Probably the best theme for a final dungeon in Zelda history. The slow and ominous Hyrule Castle theme at the bottom floor. Then the bottom half of the tower begins the merge with Ganondorf's theme and becomes more foreboding as if to imply you're not ready for what's coming up. Then the top half of the tower is full on Ganondorf theme at a loud volume, showing that Hyrule belongs to Ganon, this is your final effort, and as if saying "There's no turning back now. It ends here." Seriously when I entered the tower I legit had chills all over me. The ascent wasn't easy either and that final theme made me realize that this was it. No turning back. Absolutely genius music from Nintendo.
I Would've Loved To See The Castle Expanded Like When The Story's Done You Can Explore More Of The Castle Like Zelda's Bedroom And The Royal Vault Where Link Can Raid It
ah yes, upon entering the foyer of the castle you get that VERY eerie quietness. Noone or no thing is there, at least that's how the music makes you feel. Then as you progress further into the castle, the music transitions into a more ominous tune, as if foreboding that trouble lies ahead. And the third and final phase, as you begin the ascension to the apex and throne room, it slowly transfers from hyrule castle theme to Ganondorf's theme. The closer you get, the louder the music is. it is epic. Then you finally reach the apex and step outside briefly. No music. just darkness and wind, no other being present. Step into the throne room finally, and there the king of evil is, sitting on an usurped throne knowing full well you were coming. Music set the tone beautifully. I find the scores to LoZ titles to be among the best.
Also It Would've Been Amazing If Totk Zelda Was In This Game Like She Was Walking Around The Castle And When Zelda Notices Link She'll Say: "Link????? Why Is He Wearing Green But He Does Look Cute OH Right The Sages"
I always love melodic buildups like TP's rendition of Hyrule Castle, especially when they're final dungeon themes. The Bowser Castle theme buildup in Paper Mario 64 is another great example, especially with the eerie calm of Peach's Castle immediately afterward. Really sets the stage for final boss fights!
People always say that Twilight Princess is just a remake of Ocarina of Time. Sure, it is... but with a central gameplay mechanic inspired by A Link to the Past and the pyschological/emotional depth of Majora's Mask. That last part is very evident in this song. Where other Hyrule Castle themes are all about a sense of building violent tension, there's this feeling of uneasiness here. Why? Because the place has already fallen, casualties sustained, etc. For once, its not just about Link's approaching challenge, but about the very environment itself.
yeah truly, Hyrule had already surrendered to the Twili and the war was pretty much lost. Ganondorf had been revived and taken control of the land. The Zora queen had been executed as well. Pretty much you were the only person who could do something meaningful now
I think twilight princess despite the fact that people say it's somewhat bad, it definitely shows its colors alongside Majora's Mask AND A Link To The Past. But a part of me wishes they could've used the Hyrule Warriors art style, But I guess in its defense it was released around 1-4 years before I was born. Sure I played the game all the way through. But even so it feels like this game gives off an atmosphere I enjoy hating and liking at the same time. So I can emphasize what you're talking about.
I like the tiny bits of Ganondorf's leitmotif from Ocarina of Time that you can occasionally hear mixed in, especially when it becomes more prominent as the song goes on. :D
Twilight Princess was the GOAT back in 06. I remember how pissed ppl were after WW didn't have OOT graphics (Although it turned out to be a good thing and Nintendo gives us things we want even if we don't know it at the time). The combination between the unique items like Double Clawshot/Spinner/Dominion Rod/Ball and Chain/Iron Boots that let you walk on metallic ceilings. This game has creativity oozing out its ass. The bosses were epic. The dungeons were epic. The world was epic. And this theme is epic. Saw another comment about dead soldiers guiding you to Ganon. The entire feeling of this game is epic. KingK is 100% correct about this game it's goal is to be epic. I liked SS, but it wasn't as epic as this. OOT set the stage, and is amazing and prob the second best 3D Zelda out there (Next to MM) but not epic. The closest thing to this game outside of this game is the Goron Mask from MM and Zora Mask from the N64 Version. This game....Man oh man do I love this game. "Welcome to my Castle." - Ganon
I haven’t played this game nor heard this song for well over 10 years, but I still remember this song more than the rest of them. From my memory, when you enter the castle, you’re the first to enter it in many years due to it being sealed. The music captured the feeling of entering into a place frozen in time, still untouched with every cobweb and vase still in the same place as they were many years before when a cataclysmic event occurred. And also the emptiness of the place, no one there and eerily silent. The eeriness and atmosphere of the music captured this feeling so well, and every now and then it comes into my mind and makes me imagine entering somewhere that has been lost to time…
This theme embodies the entire theme of the legend of zelda. Listen to the transition of a kingdom in that is unsure if it's destiny transition to that of a kingdom in the falling stages of its prosperity to the total chaos of Denise consuming the kingdom like it has in times past... what a beautiful lead up to the final battle with the king of evil once again consumed with the rage of failing to take over this kingdom multiple times leading him to total madness.... at the end you can tell the rage and evil radiating within the soul of the reincarnated demise wanting to take what he believes is rightfully his... everything
BOTW was my first Zelda game ever, picked up on TP only recently, and the moment I heard the first two notes, I already knew whats up. The music in Zelda games is instantly recognizeable.
I love to hear this as an echo to OoT where Ganondorf actually plays the Organ. Here, you feel like you come nearer to him playing, and as a consequence, his play comes over the theme of the castle, invading it.
Actually it's more a remix of A Link to the Past's Hyrule Castle music which "Farewell Hyrule King" is remixed from. I word it this way because it seems to be trying to emulate more the mood of the original than the Wind Waker version.
It's not always better to block with the shield, it's often more useful to block with the opposite hand to the opponent. Since link is lefthanded if he blocked a right-handed strike with his right hand he would block most of his view. You can simulate this if you imagine a strike coming to your right and trying to raise your left arm to block it
oh damn i remember this, i was getting so fucking nervous with this song in the last stage. when I finally came to the final boss i was a bit dissappointed because this music made me more hype than the actual fight
