Installed this lift kit on my buddies Xterra. This was our first lift kit either of us have ever installed, so we just learned as we went. Not to bad of a process overall.
Thank you for this video. I was thinking about buying that exact lift kit for my 04 Xterra. I'm mechanically savvy but I have never touched a lift kit before, and this video made me feel a lot more confident about doing it myself. You made it look easy. Cheers!
Junior Muniz Junior Muniz Correct. A torsion bar is a type of spring. Typically the same or very similar material is used to make both coil and torsion springs (spring steel), and the concept is the same too. As you compress a coil spring, you are twisting the cross section of the round, coiled bar; a torsion bar does the same thing, minus the bar being wrapped into a coil. The torsion bar is connected rigidly to the rear crossmember (where it doesn't move except when adjusted) and to the lower control arm (where it twists with the control arm when the suspension is compressed). By adjusting the arm attached to the spring in the rear crossmember, you are changing resting (unloaded) position of the spring, and can therefore lift the front end of the truck.
Just an fyi to anyone just installing the rancho add a leaf without replacing the shackles- you can install the leaf without removing the shackles or disconnecting the sway bar. Also, I used aftermarket leaf clamps because the old ones were impossible to bend (for me anyway). Get 2.5 to 4 degree shims and get camber bolts if you plan to get an alignment.
At 8 minutes - that leaf spring bracket is on upside down - the longer side goes up on the leaf spring setup - looks like it's working but it might squeak
Nice video! I wanted to buy this lift too but on Amazon it said it was for 2wd Xterras. Idk what made the difference but it seemed to have worked out for y'all!
Do your timing belt on that truck for I blew mine and found out it's a interference motor meaning I probably bent valves and yeah. BUT I bought a 06 off road x .

Thanks so much. I've been thinking about this for months for my 2004 Frontier. Wanted a lift but nothing too much. Thanks again!
02 Xterra of my own. I know the rusty bolt struggle! Great vid and go Air Force!
you were right about the torsion bar. instead of a spring, they use the bar. but its the same basis.

Was the suspension stiff? I installed the Heavy Duty Upper Control Arms, but it didn't raise the suspension an inch, what could I be doing wrong?
Just the control arms? Wont do the lifting unless its a drop arm. Bit youd need to get a lifted torsion bar or max out the factory one.
You need to adjust the torsion bars to lift it or lower it.
What lift kit did he use because im trying to find one for my 03 xterra
Can you just install the lift shock without adding another leap spring and replacing the rear shackle?
Yes. Youlll just be at the original height
@@hyr0llr then would it be better to just install stock height shock then the lift shock ?
@@hmongboy9161 yes. Just to make sure piston travel is not affected.
@@hyr0llr what's you're opinion on the shock tho?
Does a 2000 Nissan Frontier 2wd have the same suspension on the xterra
