Reminds me, this one time it was like 9 o'clock and the previous week I couldn't breath and as I was in the restroom brushing my teeth, I started to find it hard to breathe. I spat out the toothpaste and went into my room to sit down, but it got harder and harder to breathe. It felt like someone stepping on your chest, or squishing your lungs. I called my parents and they rushed me to the hospital. I slten started to cry because I thought I was gonna die. I was like 10 and when I got to the hospital I had to wait for some reason. Twice I had two really bad attacks where it got to it's worst. When we got called in after maybe 5 minutes, I think I got put on one those breathing machines and I started to feel better. Even though it wasn't that bad I had nightmares or thoughts that it would happen in my sleep and I would simply suffocate to death. It's been 2 years and I'm doing better now. Haven't had anything really bad since then (knock on wood) but yeah it's bad

Ive had asthma all my life and the worst one my problems with it is having an asthma attack in public being at home thats fine i got my nebulizer but then im in public all i have is a inhaler and personaly for me inhalers dont really work because its hard to inhale while pressing on the tube also i uaed to not own an inhaler .
One of the times i had it in public i was in school and everyone surrounded me my sister who didnt speak the language well was trying to get everyone to back up but it was hard since she couldnt speak the language so i ended up almost passing out but my mom came and two days later everyone looked at me as if i was dead and just walking around
      (smaller story)
As i said im asthmatic andsoi wore jackets all day every day to provent me from triggering my asthma, but jackets are agains dress code??? So every new school year my parents would have to write a note to my new teacher telling them why i have to wear a jacket every day. Worst part i was in that school for nine years :/

ive had asthma before and just like probably almost everyone else with asthma i almost died from it when i was a kid. havent had a major asthma attack in about 10 years if i had to guess. nowadays it rarely bothers me. i can full out sprint and recover relatively quickly from it no inhaler needed and its great. hope everyone else someday gets to a good spot.

Don't know if this will help anyone, but for me, when exercising, having a warm up really helps to prevent any feelings of asthma. For example, if I were to break into a flat out jog or run, my asthma would absolutely act up. But spending a bit of time walking beforehand will help keep it in control. Not to mention, if you are exerting yourself a lot, taking deep, controlled breaths will keep your asthma down better than short, quick breaths.

The scary thing is, it’s not that you can’t get air in your lungs having a asthma attack. It’s getting the air out so basically you can’t breathe partially because you can’t get the air out making it even harder to breathe in.

When I was around 5 or 7 I had asthma, it was difficult to breathe at times. One time in particular I was staying at my grandmother's house and in the middle of the night I woke up and suddenly couldn't breathe at all. I woke up my mom to help look for my inhaler and we could not find it, it had mysteriously vanished. After a bit of searching for it I fainted from lack of oxygen and my mom freaked and carried me to the car and drove to the hospital. I woke up in a hospital bed with an oxygen mask around my face. My mom was sitting next to me on the phone talking to my dad. I remember thinking that a person is stuck with asthma forever and there is no way to get rid of it. I remember thinking to myself what if my asthma one day gets me and my parents aren't there and I can't find my inhaler?? I have been asthma free for 10 years.

I couldn't breathe pretty much for 2 years and a lot of nights I wouldn't go to sleep for fear of passing away in my sleep. It was that bad.
Fast-forward after that and I live in a clean house, and there was a time period where I would find myself taking deep breaths, deep breaths, and the corners of my mouth would pull into almost a smile, like air was a drug, for no reason. I then suddenly realized that it was my brain's response to experiencing a commodity that (virtually) everyone else had, that it had been denied for so long. "Oh my God, oh my God", and I started weeping upon this realization.

Man I remember having my 2nd asthma attack. It costed me a chance to graduate from the Army. As a kid, I've dreamt of growing up and becoming a soldier and serving my country. Had it once as a kid, doctors thought it was a season change. As time progresses, I began to note how difficult it was for me to run one mile during PE every week at my high school years. Still, I dismissed it. Joined the Army back in June 2020, ready to give it my all to become a soldier and make my family proud. Halfway through trainning when we did the 50 foot crawl through the tall grass, I suffocated and nearly passed out twice. It wasn't until my drill sergeant came to me and asked about my symptoms of which I confirmed it. I was discharged back in October, but I was given a chance to rejoin, I spent every night the past 8 months working out on gym equipment in my room to keep a better shape, and now I'm questioning if I should even rejoin back after community college or not. My heart tells me to rejoin but my gut tells me itll just end up worse for me. Anyone know what I can do with mild to severe asthma?

You know there is other jobs in the army then being a grunt? Like if you have a medical degree(?) You'll end up being a medic, treating the wounded. That was my dream of the army until I enjoy artistic stuff more like making universes and shit.
And idk about treating asthma symptoms... I think just going on short runs, like stop to breathe when you feel it starting up. I did notice that my asthma actually got worse when I try going on runs now due to quarantine, but it is nice that to not worry about asthma
(My attacks only happen when I run, like I could do... 30 to 40 feet until I start to have one)

I've had asthma for quite sometime now and my worst attack I've ever had lasted for 3 days. My mom didn't believe that I was actually having a real attack though. She thought I was faking so that I wouldn't have to go to school. In reality it was possibly one of the worst asthma attacks I'd have ever had.
For the first day it wasn't that bad and I was just light headed and couldn't breath well. When the second day came around it became harder to breath and felt like I couldn't inhale much before coughing. For the third day I would take a very small breath in every couple of seconds or so as to not cough. It became very hard for me to even speak during this time.
My mom had dropped me off at my dad's for the weekend, Where he would later take me to the emergency room at around 11pm. We stayed there until about 2am where they finally gave me some steroids and a prescription.
It's been about 6 years since then and I've had very little problems with it, since it is mainly seasonal. But there are still things that can trigger it, one such thing being Ragweed.

After 40 mins it got to the point I couldn’t even inhale long enough to talk but I wasn’t freaking out either. I just felt tired and was about to take a nap until my brother came home. I couldn’t talk anymore and had to write down what was happening and when I went to the hospital they just put a mask on me and I was good as new.
