Great video! I live in Indiana Pa and no doubt that we are proud of our Jimmy Stewart! I love how you showcased our beautiful town, especially showing the downtown all lit up for "It's a Wonderful Life Christmas". Long after his parents passed away, Jimmy still came to town for different events. Such as the dedication of his statue in front of the courthouse. He even had Indiana in his will. Some childhood friends became his lifelong friends. The night his wife, Gloria, passed away, Jimmy phoned up an old Indiana pal to tell him that "his Gloria" died. When Jimmy went on the Johnny Carson show he would always mention Indiana Pa which everyone here got a kick out of. The stories are endless about our hometown hero!
My mother (RIP), six years younger than Jimmy, remembered seeing teenaged Jimmy working in his dad’s hardware store when she would go there with my grandfather in his horse drawn farm wagon (early 1920s) and I remember being in that store with my dad after Jimmy was already in Hollywood (1950s). Cool video.
Wow!!! Could resist and watched during the game. First of all, you are an awesome “host/narrator”. The editing and storytelling is top notch. Loved how you superimposed that house in the video still with the old black and white photo. And the icing on the cake… Jingle Bells! That kicked serious ass! Big fan. Big like and a sub!
When I was a kid in Akron 1961 my parents liked ti drive back home to Altoona Pa. We passed always passed through Indiana Pa and mom always raised her voice and proclaimed we were passing Jimmy Stewart’s Store everybody look!!! Every Time! Good ole days of being a 5 year old
@@runningintohistory my whole family moved to Akron in 51. I was the first Born in Akron from our family.. lots of relatives back in Altoona..I haven’t seen them in decades.
You state @7:30 Jimmy Stewart retired from service in 1959 as a Brigadier General. I read elsewhere Stewart ended the war with 20 combat missions. He remained in the USAF Reserve and was promoted to brigadier general on July 23, 1959. He retired on May 31, 1968.
@@runningintohistory Even after resuming his acting career, Stewart continued to take his Air Force Reserve duties extremely seriously, and ensured that he flew the B-36, B-47, B-52 and B-58.
Are you here from Kevin Chee's channel about Google Ads? I'm wondering the same thing. I know this guy said he was going to try an experiment with one or two of his videos on Google ads but not sure which one he did it on.

Yes, technically I should have added that he retired from “active duty“ service in 1959. Good catch.

@@ababner317 yeah even through Vietnam as a "non-duty". Great guy.
