"Reform the rights of women and you reform the world." - Mary Wollstonecraft Over 200 years later and were still waiting for equality. Thanks to all the team for another great segment. I still miss my 1984 Norma kamali cotton blazer with massive detachable shoulder pads, I wore them with everything! 😂

Wow, that Dior at the end... Divine and the color block Mugler... Wow, gorgeous.
First thing that caught my eye is the bracelet Doris is wearing. Adore! Loved the Gianfranco Ferré...it speaks to the inner "ladies who lunch" in me. But if i were thin and tall...i would wear the Westwood, Ann Dem and Helmut Lang!!! As a 90s kid, those suits were calling my name.
I costume for high school theatre, and I use A LOT of vintage clothes. I have a huge collection. I explain often to the kids helping me, that clothes are a visual part of history. They tell quite a bit about what was going on in the past. I love my collection, but even more, I love adding on to it.😊
I would like to see an episode of your staff picks. Or an entire episode on one color or color family. All reds or all yellows perhaps. It would be interesting to see how color evolved over time and how the colors change as they age. Van Gogh painted with bright colors, knowing those colors would fade. I wonder how that theory would translate to textiles.
I love the power suit!! The first person that comes to mind is the character “Alexis Morel/Carrington/Colby/Dexter/Rowan” from Dynasty. She rocked the hell out of power suits!!!
I have been meaning to tell you for months that I absolutely love your channel, Doris! It is a distinct pleasure to learn so much you. Your phenomenal wealth of knowledge is unsurpassed when it comes to the History of Fashion, and your approach from a sociological level puts you in a class all by yourself! All the best to you, Doris! I wish the best for your business and this channel during these difficult times. Your entire collection is fascinating, but your Christian Dior pieces take my breath away every time! Wishing you and staff safety and comfort. ❤
I use to have shoulder pads in my shirts. And in my jackets! It was shoulder pad overload! I loved it!!! Thank you Doris! Brought back some wonderful memories ❤️
Doris, I absolutely am fascinated by your showcased garments and the history of fashion.... Something I never thought I would say. But thanks to you I have a whole new appreciation of them. Plus, when I'm stressed out, I do one of two things...I either go into my garden and pull the hell out of some weeds, or I come to one of your videos and relax. 🤗
My college graduation in the 1980's was my first power suit experience. I still remember how smart and strong and confident I felt in it and used it for my job interviews following graduation...
I’m enjoying breakfast coffee in hot humid Tokyo and I just watched your wonderful presentation. Cultural history at its best. This is refreshing whereas modern :news: is vulgar. Thank you.
Great video Doris, I enjoyed it! I hope that your doing well! I look forward for you to see the painting that I'm working on. Always much love to you and your channel. Eric
A most interesting video indeed! I learned a lot about vintage work place fashion. I just adored these suits. But I just want to say that you, Doris looked absolutely beautiful! I mean that seriously!
Yes very strange did you know that a lot of the so called third world counties were first to have woman presidents. Example the philipines nicaragua and costa rica it dose not make sense. ☺️🇨🇷
Loved the vivian westwood inthe 80s i used suits all the time and yes a woman in a suit is treated with more respect my father loved to see me in suits he once said that a womans strength was in her brain that most men are not capable of doing what a woman dose he admired that in my mother and after all they raised 12 children together ☺️🇨🇷
A great episode and I note that the Gucci designer (is he Alessandro Michele?) has beefed up the Saint Laurent pants suit with bright colors and with bright contrast lapels. I love the Chanel suits and the last Dior suit is divine.
We had “$adie Hawkins Day in the 60s we could wear what we liked that one day. Pants were granted across the board 1968-1969 Berkeley California a longggggggggg time ago💕
Women in 1930s suits, now those were power suits. Dior's new look, fabulous. I was a fan of the 1980s football shoulder pads, my favorite was a silk suit that I called my clown suit. Sorry Doris but the gray wide striped suit said escapee from the chain gang to me.
The British series 'Absolutely Fabulous' Joanna Lumley who played the Patsy Stone character was quite fond of the power of Chanel. Wikipedia says: She has a particular fondness for couture Chanel jackets, which she wears to editorial meetings to intimidate her colleagues.
When I think of women and pants or a power suit, I think of Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, first and only female medal of honor recipient. She was an amazing women with a style that was quite controversial at the time.
You said gender neutral and I thought you meant anyone could wear that specific suit and I was going to say you might have to tailor the crotch, but I realized you meant the style of the suit was gender neutral! What a goose I can be!
Like she said it's a piece that needs to be in a museum and like all museum pieces should only be handled with gloves because the natural oils in the human skin provoke damage to the fabric, ruining a beautiful garment faster. And not because Rona wants to wear Dior 😄
You don't have to say sorry about what you said about women, it's true. Enough with PC Culture, some people just have to "man up" and accept facts as facts. Men and women are not the same, they have their own characteristics and qualities, let's just accept that and lead happier lives.
Please, please, please, get some decent mikes. You are still hard to hear, as the mike is not close enough to your mouth, due to the low neck line of the top you are wearing!!! Still love your show and the effort you are making to bring us this great information.
Hello Beautiful Lady Shop Owner!! :)) It would be more interesting to have a little story for each piece (previous owner, designer, condition and believe it or not - PRICE!). You can incorporate generalities like "women's history of the power suit" with specifics to each peace. You loose a lot of interest with the "History of Blah Blah" ... Even though it is very nice of you - as a young lady I prefer not to hear the History of XYZ but you can use it specifically towards each piece.... The best Real Estate is the first 30 seconds of your video. Don't make your viewers Yawn the 1st 30 seconds. Dazzle them. Maybe every now and then you can spot light an item... include the price so we get an idea of the piece ... You are a natural business woman of interest and a great Hostess!! Keep up the good work!
how about when you show us the SHOW OFF segment you invite one of your customers or actresses to model it SELLS If you can get it I stalk your site and mentally claim it all for myself hmmmmp
People like to dream about simpler times when they watch your videos. The clothes are beautiful and the explanations and stories are interesting. That said, I wish you would stay out of politics and talking about our "strange times." The same reason why football is losing viewers. Football fans don't want politics, they want a good football game. I don't look at and contemplate buying clothes just so I can hear about politics. I'm sick to death of politics.
Hi Doris. I love watching your videos. Your knowledge of fashion is staggering. BUT, with respect, PLEASE stop saying "um". Move along in your presentation in a more fluid manner. You loose me quite often after the 20th "um." Thank you!
That 1966 YSL pantsuit is timeless, so beautifully crafted

90’s are the best. You can have the 60’s apart from possibly 2 or 3 designers... Biba, Ossie etc...
I costume for high school theatre, and I use A LOT of vintage clothes. I have a huge collection. I explain often to the kids helping me, that clothes are a visual part of history. They tell quite a bit about what was going on in the past. I love my collection, but even more, I love adding on to it.😊
Same!! Love it, though running out of room and sometimes miss on a good piece by snoozing or forgetting about it. Arghhh...
You deserve your success. I’m French and love your videos. I used to earn a living in fashion and I like the way you share your passion.
I like the "show off" segments.
I loved this episode. I'm a man and I often wear a chanel tweed jacket :)
Cool 😎
You go girl!! Love it!!
I never miss your wonderful posts- there is so much history and art in clothing. Today's show-off was awesome.

Power suits.
Interesting episode.
Thank you. ❤️
Ponder: Strange how women aren't even taken seriously for the Vice Presidency. 🧐
Yes very strange did you know that a lot of the so called third world counties were first to have woman presidents. Example the philipines nicaragua and costa rica it dose not make sense. ☺️🇨🇷

A great episode and I note that the Gucci designer (is he Alessandro Michele?) has beefed up the Saint Laurent pants suit with bright colors and with bright contrast lapels. I love the Chanel suits and the last Dior suit is divine.

Would you consider a white drape for a back drop. So we can better see the garments?
poetic ann dem =]

Love you content, but your sound is very hard to hear
Art Apples I find it difficult to hear clearly as well.😞
You should look at maria felix wardrobe
You said gender neutral and I thought you meant anyone could wear that specific suit and I was going to say you might have to tailor the crotch, but I realized you meant the style of the suit was gender neutral! What a goose I can be!
I luv suits what about Lilly Ann Bay Area designer 👌🏾✌🏿👼🏿💕👜🙍🏽
OMG. How can you talk about 1940's shoulder pads and not scream JOAN CRAWFORD!
Did you mean that you should be wearing gloves because of the delicate fabric, or because of Coronavirus?🧤😷
Like she said it's a piece that needs to be in a museum and like all museum pieces should only be handled with gloves because the natural oils in the human skin provoke damage to the fabric, ruining a beautiful garment faster. And not because Rona wants to wear Dior 😄

strange Times ares covid19 Times. she talk about vote, not what you must vote.
Agree 100%. I almost unsubscribed because her politics were coming through. Not hard to guess what they are.
