Welcome to my official Sid Meier's Civilization V (Civ 5) RUclips Tutorial Series! Founded in 2016 and revitalized in 2021! Civ 5 is perhaps one of the best 4x strategy games of all time. This series will cover over civ v tips and tricks for beginners as I guide you through how to settle a city, what cultural policies to choose, how to tech up fast, how to take cities, win wars, defend your lands, negotiate peace, take to the seas and much more!
    About the game:
Sid Meier's Civilization V is a 4X video game in the Civilization series developed by Firaxis Games. The game was released on Microsoft Windows in September 2010,[3] on OS X on November 23, 2010, and on Linux on June 10, 2014.
In Civilization V, the player leads a civilization from prehistoric times into the future on a procedurally generated map, attempting to achieve one of a number of different victory conditions through research, exploration, diplomacy, expansion, economic development, government and military conquest. The game is based on an entirely new game engine with hexagonal tiles instead of the square tiles of earlier games in the series.[5] Many elements from Civilization IV and its expansion packs have been removed or changed, such as religion and espionage (although these were reintroduced in its subsequent expansions). The combat system has been overhauled, by removing stacking of military units and enabling cities to defend themselves by firing directly on nearby enemies.[6] In addition, the maps contain computer-controlled city-states and non-player characters that are available for trade, diplomacy and conquest. A civilization's borders also expand one tile at a time, favoring more productive tiles,[7] and roads now have a maintenance cost, making them much less common.[8] The game features community, modding, and multiplayer elements.[5] It is available for download on Steam.
Its first expansion pack, Civilization V: Gods & Kings, was released on June 19, 2012, in North America and June 22 internationally. It includes features such as religion, espionage, enhanced naval combat and combat AI, as well as nine new civilizations.[9]
A second expansion pack, Civilization V: Brave New World, was announced on March 15, 2013. It includes features such as international trade routes, a world congress, tourism, great works, as well as nine new civilizations, eight additional wonders, and three ideologies. It was released on July 9, 2013, in North America and in the rest of the world three days later.

Agree with most of it. I'd include that picking your starting capital with lots of rough terrain like forest/jungle and hills around your capital is a must for me. I can't count how many games on deity I've lost just because my capital was too exposed, and no matter how many or advanced A.I military units are, they just cannot negotiate with the terrain and end up just sending their units to die faster, plus most archers and siege units except artillery just can't shoot over rough terrain and hills.

You will often have a good chance to make the Hanging Gardens.

Yeah there tends to be higher chance of getting hanging gardens. IMO reasons why is the A.I already has a great starting location, bundles of resources, extra units, so for it when it evaluates it's position it won't prioritize growth over production or other buildings and wonders that give food.

Good stuff. Every time I I try diety I get mollywhopped in about 10 turns.

It’s tricky, and unlikely to go well in the first few tries hahaha

Save your gold for an archer when you finish that tech. About 200 of it. It can help deal with Barbarians and raise your military score against the AI.

Hm I might try some of these, I can beat Emperour pretty consistently and when i play Diety as a meme run I can get to the beginning of the information era by the time the ai wins science victory but I might try to do a real run as poland using these tips.

I've managed to build Palace of Artemis before(on) turn 30 on Deity as Shoshone. Reloaded few times to play with the production/population and clearing of forests, also had to go to war with AI to steal settlers/workers which were going unguarded (lol). Also managed Mausoleum of Halicarnassus and Oracle so I think I am now on pretty good start.
So yeah, got pretty lucky and I am currently wondering how I will finish this game :D

Ok, but here is my problem with diety games. I spawn, I build scout, I send warrior and a scout to search the area, my capital grows to about 3 pop, I usually build 1 more warrior and worker then settler and it's about when AI shows up with 6-7 classic era units and voila game over.
Now if instead of building that settler and worker I went for archers... then why should I bother with scout?

Scouts are there to grab ruins, meet city states, and find civs. You want to steal 1 worker from a cs, and poke around AI to see if you can find unprotected workers or settlers. They'll usually peace after 3-4 turns early game with 0 issues.

Even on deity the ai still struggle to defend against ranged units. Have like 4 comp bow man and 3 melee units, this is usually enough to take a capital city really early. Ideal if you share an island with 1 other civ

I’ve played 3000 hours and it’s incredibly difficult to beat deity with only 3 cities. Also some of your advice makes it kinda obvious you’re not a regular deity player. At least most of the advice is decent.
