My question is, where are all of the AR-15 toting citizens that say they need assault rifles for the defense of their families, when these horrific school shootings take place?

Well if they actually brought their guns to do the police's job, the police would easily arrest them for disturbing the peace or brandishing weapons or some such bs. Remember the mother who was almost arrested at the scene, only to go to another entrance and go get her kid. I remember she had to go to court for breaking the terms of her probation for saving multiple children. Luckily the judge for her case was reasonable.

Ok if you want them punished……but who exactly gets punished? Is it the higher ups….as too many frontline officers seemed to have no adequate training on what to do with an active shooter? Is it the frontline officers who got there first, if their training and policy said to wait for full swat back up? Is it the first officers for not being shot by the shooter?
Do you take into account the bystander effect, where the bigger the crowd, the less likely any one person will come forward to help, thinking “someone else here probably is better qualified….they can do it.” If someone genuinely thought a door was locked a person survived, when that wasn’t true…should that be punished?
If you want to actually punish the correct people, not just a sacrificial scapegoat….that is very, very tough. And if you work, you know how easy it is to be told to go do something you really aren’t prepared for, and if a disaster happens, is that on the untrained person, who their employer??

@@Itried20takennames the point is not who gets punished, it's that NO ONE will Be punished. "hey guys we don't know who is the best person to punish so we're just gonna do nothing" 😂. Every single one of them involved in this disaster is going to continue being a police officer, taking checks from American taxpayers, getting a fat pension. More than 50% of that towns budget went to the police. Look what it got them. The biggest expense of almost every American city is its police
Police don't get to use the bystander effect as a defense for inaction. They're supposed to go through "rigorous" training. It's time everyone admitted that American policing is broken, 90% of people who are police or want to be police only want to do so for the worst reasons, such as bullying people, murder, and committing various crimes with impunity.
After columbine, national police training changed. When there is a school shooting, cops are supposed to move towards the sound of gunfire, towards the shooter, and neutralize them at all costs. Once again we see police do not care about us or our safety. They play tough with a badge and a gun but it's all about self preservation for them. 90% of police are bonafide sociopaths

there were 376 officers there. care to be specific? DPS fired 5 of 97 who were there. all the Uvalde CISD officers were fired (I think there were only 3 left including the chief). the deputy Arredondo thought was going to serve as the outside scene coordinator was fired. the families wanted the guy who did the mass shorter training at the local CC fired, but I don’t know if that amounted to anything. one deputy took his child out of the school before joining the response and I think it was that same trainer. the guy with the Punisher cellphone screen was the husband of Eva Mirales and was checking his phone for texts from her while trying to get them to go in because she was still alive at the time-he was removed from the scene instead. so not nearly enough.

From Ireland, with respect. This is one of the saddest, most hopeless and utterly depressing videos I've ever watched. I counted two references to gun availability. The rest is just horrific to hear. Human failures everywhere, individual and agencies; downright cowardice by some responders; Leaders with no ability to lead ; all of that. Most horrific is the complete resignation and acceptance of massacres in communities. It's everyday life in America, so best to prepare for when it inevitably occurs --- like a tornado or hurricane --- train and prepare.
Well, mass shootings are not a force of nature - what about even trying to prevent them? Look at the rest of the developed world ---it's the guns in America. Guns. Guns.

If the leaders don't know what they are doing or overwhelmed, that can degrade any agencies response to a situation.

There is no excuse to not go in while kids are being killed. This is a border town with poor quality of anything including local police officers. I know I would have gone in like most people would. I think most police officers are good people with common sense but not in this border town.

"Ramos, 18 broke into the school [Robb Elementary] despite being confronted outside by an officer who did not open fire."
A Uvalde Police officer who did not open fire.
Meanwhile, "Half of the parents...wanted to go in there [Robb Elementary] without vests, without guns to get their f**** kids" quoted a man on the scene.
And that's the difference between heroes and Uvalde police.
Unarmed citizens were willing to put their lives on the line to save children, while Uvalde police "confronted the shooter outside and did not open fire."
Who are you protecting? Who did you protect in this situation???
I saw a video of a Uvalde police officer pinning down a hysterical parent to the ground. You can hear gunshots going off while the Uvalde police are harassing parents.
    Let me say that AGAIN.
There is video online of Uvalde police officers PINNING hysterical parents to the ground while gunshots can be heard in the background....the police focused on the unarmed parents... UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY. BECAUSE VIDEO EXISTS.
If it was YOUR kids. The police would have pinned YOU DOWN to the ground and put a knee on your neck, instead of saving your children.
    Who are you serving?
Google the videos for proof. Google the video of parents pleading with Uvalde police to intervene during the shooting, the Uvalde police get confrontational and even pin a parent to the ground. They don't get their guns and storm the school in the video, instead they harass crying parents. Google it for proof!
There are parents with dead children and the Uvalde police department ignored their pleas. Video exists of this.
These officers might not face charges - but the video will always exist.
I hope you give a speech at your daughters wedding, or your retirement party - remember everyone knows what you did May 22 2022.
Do you think people forgot? Because you will live with your actions FOREVER. This incident will outlive you.
When you eventually forget what happened due to dementia....guess what?
Your care takers will remember. Your family will remember what you did.
Get ready for life as complicit murderers.
Seriously enjoy your daughters wedding. Give a speech. But know what everyone is thinking about you.
And when you are gone... The video will STILL exist. :)
    You will never escape it.
So etch it onto your graves. Set it in stone.
    "here lies BLANK
During the Uvalde mass shooting May 22, 2022...he did nothing"
The videos of the Uvalde officers ignoring parents will never go away. That's your legacy now. That's who you were raised to be. Your mother's raised you to pin parents instead of save children....every one of your mother's is a F*** Up.
And that's how your friends, family and community will remember you. They will remember you harassing parents, and pinning them to the asphalt while their children were being murdered. When you are all gone, those videos will remain and your actions that day will never be forgotten.
    You don't help people.
You made a lot of lives worse that day.
Quit. Or do the world a favor and go away forever.
Karma can wait a lifetime, Karma does not forget. Let's leave it to the universe to decide, and may karma bless each one of you with everything you ever deserved.

Your answering all the questions nobody asked and avoided everything we want to know. #1 Teacher leaves door open for someone with a rifle that the border patrol has been hanging out with for a hour already! Then Border Patrol was the only one to take him out after bringing him to the school. #2 fake car crash at school cover up #3 Why shooter can only go to classroom of police Chiefs Wife by special open door neer his wife?. Was the Police Chief trying to divorce his wife? How was that relationship? #4 Why are they still hiding outside security cameras angles even today. #5 Why did one parent start preaching about gun control within hours and not even shed a tear.#6 Mother Angeli Gomez broke through police line and simply took away away her child and police trying to keep children in school with the murder. #7 Classroom had wrap around windows to outside and police could see clearly into classroom from the safty of outside and the cameras from outside are missing.

If those officers are to be believed, that they didnt know what to do because they weren't told what to do then ive lost all hope for humanity. 300+ law enforcement personnel were present. NOT ONE of those men or women could muster the courage to save CHILDREN. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach knowing an entire battalion of armed law enforcement sat and listened to those kids still getting shot and asking for help that came WAY to late. If your a cop that cant die trying to save elementary school children then dont be a cop. Your a disgrace and a stain that law enforcement must now bare because of cowardice.

I’m glad they pointed out that everyone just assumed Arredondo was in charge and did absolutely nothing to try to take over when they found he was very much in over his head, BUT I’m dismayed not to hear anything about the look back related to the previously attempted mass shooting at the high school or the need for the district to have school social workers. Uvalde CISD should not have a PD. their officers-including their chief-had all been let go from multiple other law enforcement departments. CLEAT has raised the issue of departments being created without the availability of good officers to staff them when other local law enforcement is available. they have advocated that the TCOLE statute be changed to require review of proposed new departments and the ability to deny licensure to them. for no good reason, TCOLE is different from all other licensing agencies in the state with little power to hold individual officers and whole departments accountable much to the abhorrence of police chiefs and sheriffs across the state who find changes to discharge paperwork when an officer the fired for incompetence or another violation is hired at a neighboring department. there should also always be TWO on site commanders-one inside the scene, one outside to coordinate officers arriving. Uvalde CISD had an attempted mass shooting 10 days prior to the shooting at Santa Fe High School which was foiled just by coordination between the county SO, city PD and ISD administration-the ISD did not have a PD at the time. that could have continued with funding going into hiring school social workers instead of creating an ISD PD as, looking at the shooters history, there was an escalation over the course of EIGHT YEARS. his school history demonstrated there was a change in his demeanor sometime between starting 4th grade and starting 5th grade, he stalked girls, he carried around dead cats in a bag one year on multiple occasions, he dropped out of school, he asked several family members to purchase him a weapon before his 18th birthday, he used his grandmothers credit card to stockpile ammo before he could purchase his weapons, he was known to CPS as they handled his kinship placement with his grandmother and he was supposed to have access to wrap around services, and he told online acquaintances of his desire to do this including telling a girl that he had shot his grandmother that morning (in the jaw; she survived but that was terrible). as to the social media aspect, the platforms often only tell a statewide agency that there is a threat in their state-not where, not the identity of the person making the threat, not the identity of the target(s), not the nature of the threat. it’s very much a notification that will result in statewide law enforcement agencies being like, “there’s a threat in our state somewhere and you can’t even tell us if the person making the threat lives in the state itself? well, thanks for wasting our time, Captain Obvious.”

The answer is the hire good cops, train them for any scenario and make sure they have proper equipment like flash bang, breaching charges, breaching tools, bullet proof shields, vests with plate, etc. Every town police needs it.
