As a former infantryman in Vietnam I am fully aware what fear does to an individual, but you have to face that fear and continue to function according to your training. These men failed miserably and innocent children and two teachers died. Shameful! They should all be fired.

So what is the proper protocol for this kind of situation ???
What was it that the POLICE did wrong exactly ??
Because i'm confused on why all the criticism of the POLICE in this incident
fired squad
This is beyond fear. It’s apathy by the command. Some of those cops were ready to go in.
The screams of children being murdered were removed to protect the feelings of the frightened and cowardly Uvalde police.
The cops weren't in the building yet when the kids were screaming.
@@rogersmith7808 the first officers that responded definitely were.
@@skankhunt3624 No they weren't, read the report!
Yes they were!!! He was still shooting when they came in
@@rogersmith7808 I watched the video bro. The First responders entered the building when shots are still being fired and children were screaming.
2:15….. To hear a law-enforcement officer sound so afraid with the words, “Careful guys, shots fired” irritated the heck out of me! Officers trained to protect & serve did neither. Of course it’s not easy to run into a building where an active shooter was literally killing teachers & children, but officers are trained to do just that! I am utterly disgusted & angry.
They failed. Plain and simple. No leadership. However most officers aren’t trained in active shooter scenarios. Only specialized units and swat are. Most police officers if lucky receive one 4 hr training on active shooters. That’s it.. Supposedly The Border patrol equivalent to a swat unit called Bortac arrived on scene but weren’t allowed to go in by local chief officer in charge.. The top officials on site should be relieved of their positions and resign.
They protected their self
The job is to run toward the danger period. If you don't have a little "not on my watch" in you,you should look for other employment.
No amount of training will get you ready for this and most of these officers have their own families so I can see why they are worrying about potentially being shot dead
So true. Can't imagine a dispatcher freaking out like that over the radio. He's instilling fear in his officers when he's only supposed to relay information clearly, accurately, and concisely staying calm. Wasn't that the same officer who gave misinformation about the kid being in an office instead of a classroom of dying children when he wasn't actually sure? Disgusting.
Some years ago, a Montreal cop on patrol ran into a University building with only his sidearm, after getting a call about a student in the building with a semi- auto rifle. He engaged the shooter in a gun battle making it last long enough for back up to arrive. Balls of steel. No victims.
What a disaster. These cowards need to be fired and charged!
Don't forget Abbott is Coward
They should have to apologize from their knees, resign and leave town at least.
TRUE
Firing Squad.
The only people that need to be charged are the true people behind this….treason - life in prison or death

The lack of training (right down to physical fitness) in dealing with a situation like this is evident. You have to wonder what police spend all their time doing - obviously physical courage is not a requirement of the role.
Honestly I don’t even care about training at this point, there were armed parents outside cuz this is Texas who were trying to get inside and get their children out by any means necessarily and they couldn’t event do that
They have the physical courage to give traffic tickets , that’s about it
Stop blaming it on training that is just a pathetic excuse for them!
Listening to these recordings and videos only reiterates how out of shape these officers on scene truly are smh They cant run the length of the parking lot without stopping for air smh They have weapons, lots of them, bullet proof vests, and shields and they are ALL standing there while these kids are being slaughtered. Absolutely disgraceful
These officers didn't need more equipment, training or funding... they just needed more courage.
don't worry, they will be getting all 3 once again.
And none of the courage
They need to turn in their badges *and their balls*😡😡😢
They needed to find their balls!
Without training, equipment or funding its hard to have courage . I think its clear to see this is training failure, since it seems they had no idea what they where doing.
Why bother talking when he’s already actively shot children. Not the time to talk nicely. The only time to negotiate is when the gunman hasn’t killed and shows signs of listening
It made me sick hearing the police chief nicely tell him "please" and "sir" right after he just capped another kid.
Modern occupational health and safety rules and human resource guidance produces such bravery. It's fantastic that all of these police officers are fully armed and prepared to deal with MeToo or whatever other PC movement is going on but it's really unfortunate that the process has filtered out any man with an actual pair of balls in the process. All those cops, each one of them following every rule, not one of them ready to do the right thing.
.. punk-Pete was tryn to c if he wanted cheese on his burger from McDonalds..
Exactly , they should’ve also broken the door down and find the right key why did they have to guess. Shoot the doorknob down. They need better training, imagine being a hero to save children.
"Why bother talking when he’s already actively shot children" - cause talking from the other side of the wall/building is much much safer than blasting through the damn door and confronting the mf face to face.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. These officers were straight COWARDS. They sat and listened to those babies being massacred. Can you imagine the pain the parents feel knowing that maybe just maybe their child would have survived had those officers done what they supposed to do! Those shots is a child or teacher being killed. I hope they are held accountable for how they reacted. Complete COWARDS!
Such a tragedy, the officers that swore to serve and protect those children and teachers, failed to do their job!!! Shameful!!
When you hear those gunshots and think about the terror those poor kid's were going through. And the teachers knowing that there's nothing they can do to protect them from this killer. They could have used the security measures in place and lock the doors. 🙄

That's exactly what the NRA and gun owning advocates tend to say.

Which is exactly why we have the right to defend ourselves. We cannot depend on anyone else to do it.
All these cops didn't have the balls to face a shooter but we are supposed to give teachers a few days of training and put a gun in their hand so they could stop a shooter?🤔🤔
Seems legit.
Enhancing training? How can you train cowardice out of people? You could ask someone off the street what would you do if an active shooter is in a room with kids and you are a cop and they would give the right answer. Don't blame this on confusion. That’s C N N for you
They heard the police trying to talk to the shooter outside the door but the police weren't helping the babies. He looks like a complete idiot going through all those keys when the door wasn't even locked.
This is why a strong leader who knows what they’re doing & clear information is essential at these scenes. Police are taught to be part of a team & take orders from the senior officer on scene. There was failure on so many levels in this tragedy, but particularly from the top down. But it was NOT about cops protecting their own lives over kids. Arrodondo needs to be fired! And yes there needs to be change in this police department, with multi departmental training exercises. But although people are baying for their blood, most of these officers do not need to be fired, because they will NEVER let anything like this happen again. They now have the bitter experience of having been part of a catastrophic failure that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. But that is sadly, invaluable experience that, if they survive this, will make them better officers who will never let failure of a command structure, nor an incorrect classification of an active shooter situation ever happen again anywhere that they are.
And many of these officers will also take that hard-earned experience & ensure it is spread across the country as well. Although I have no doubt every single officer wishes they could have this day over again to do it completely differently, what is more valuable? An officer who has read about something like this in a textbook or heard about it at training school, or someone who has lived through it? Both the hell of the day & the horrific aftermath.

3 Tennessee Cops just showed 300 Texas cops how it's done. Pretty pathetic Texas...shame on you!
A lot of cops against one shooter and not one of them even tried to push in, this is just very terrible.
they're afraid.
Eventually some others arrived who did push in and take the shooter down. It could have been done much earlier, and especially after the second burst of gunfire. The first burst occurred either just before or just as officers entered the hallway where the gunman had the kids in two adjoining classrooms. Officers were in place and heard the second. That is why they were saying take cover and backing up in the hallway. There were also 911 calls coming from the kids still alive after the first burst -- and may be the second burst, too, -- asking for help. I understand that in the in-school video released of officers standing in the hallway, the techs erased the voices of the children screaming and we only hear the gunfire -- erased their voices because it would be too much for the parents to take. How could you stand there, not just as a police officer but as a human being, and not rush to open those doors? Perhaps not immediately but sometime into the waiting in the hallway, shields and and other equipment was brought that could have knocked down a door.
The officers who finally took down the gunman just opened the door, no key or special equipment needed.
The others during the more than an hour when the gunman had free rein may have excuses for why they did not rush in -- and even arrested one officer whose wife was a teacher in the room, and he wanted to go in. They took his gun. I think that happened outside and he did not actually get into the hallway. His wife died.

A very tragic and sad day. 21 innocent lives lost and many others injured. Families devastated forever!
That cop breathing heavily is either extremely overweight or extremely scared...
I'm so glad the Uvalde men in blue didn't have to break a nail that day. Just think of it... their manicurist would have been so upset!
Look buddy, please understand that some of these Uvalde cops are actually men without testacles. What do you expect ?!?
Aren’t they supposed to create a distraction like near a window of classroom or something and beach the door with shields? Either way they should’ve drew gunfire towards them and away from those babies. Period.
So work are weak? Got it
@@mars8923 Yeah any normal decent police force would storm the door with or wothout a shield with kids being shot ANY person would except these idiots
Funny how differently they act when they have all the power and weight of the law...and the suspect is unarmed. But it's not really very shocking--bullies are always cowards.
I ALWAYS let em know ,
I KNOW they’re cowards .
I’m NOT ya soft target….
yeah they can't seem to hone in their brutality.
Yep, they did a much better job in traffic stop and handing out tickets, with such efficiency and authority.
Does not apply to all, but have seen it
This is why a strong leader who knows what they’re doing & clear information is essential at these scenes.
Everyone in this needs to be fired. All those cops? The guns they had, there's no excuse for this. These people died because of cowardly selfish people. My heart breaks for all those involved. It was at least 10 plus against one person. The had the weapon power, the numbers and still no action was taken even after shots were heard. So, upsetting. Those poor children must have been beyond scared.
All I see are a bunch of overweight snd unfit officers who sat back and did nothing. Wanting the comfort of the salary that the job provides while not wanting to fulfill any of the responsibilities.
Yup
If only being a Police Officer came with some sort of education...
Me : Agrees
NRA Guy : But they had guns, that should be good right? A good guy with a gun is what we needed.
You can educate cowardnes
More funding is needed for better education and training. Which is why it’s so ridiculous for the left to want to defund the police.
Not sure what your states requirements are but mine requires an associates degree in criminal justice or similar to get on a police dept. or sheriff's dept. May want to research that pal.
Education and courage...
Cop: "What are we doing here?" Pretty much says it all.
Best comment yet!! What a Damn shame! Scared shitless!

Police chief: Ok well let's wait around and see if he wants to talk when he's done killing the kids in there
It's insane even with that information everyone hears more gun shots and they still didn't do anything. What a bunch of complete idiots. He even said when they first arrived for the officers to be aware of the windows but he didn't think to try and shoot through the window into the room where the shooter was??? I wouldn't be surprised if he made it as high ranking as he did without ever firing his weapon or being involved in any real conflict. These are mistakes by someone who can't think under pressure and has just faked their competence all the way to a leadership role. I hope these officers realize that every gun shot they sat around and listened to was an angel being lost in that classroom. I'm sorry these children got and a bunch of people pretending to be police officers to rescue them.
They were supposed to deal with the threat immediately.
Even if they thought it was a barricaded subject, the second they heard gunfire they should have treated it like an active shooter.
It was always an active shooter .
Chief needs to step down. Out of respect every officer that was involved as well. If that were me, I would not be able to bear the constant reminder of not doing enough. Standing around..doing nothing kids could've been saved. It seemed to be cowardly action that could've saved multiple children. no urgency ...no sense of selflessness to risk one's own life for greater good.
Imagine 20 men with guns afraid of one 18 yr old with one gun
"WE HAVE HIM CONTAINED", ummm no the shooter has placed himself in a classroom and is murdering children. Fire them and take their pension!!!
Law enforcement totally fail those children. What happened to protect and serve??
Law-enforcement is just a big payroll scam, they don’t really do training they just go and get paid for it. In the end they are all cowards
That means to protect property and to serve the oligarchy.
technically the citizens..are property of the corporation colloquially referred to as America 🇺🇸.
SCOTUS ruled that neither the Constitution, nor state law, impose a general duty upon police officers or other governmental officials to protect individual persons from harm - even when they know the harm will occur.
Police can watch someone attack you, refuse to intervene and not violate the Constitution.
When you think about the thousands of police departments across the country, it really makes you wonder if the vast majority are just as unprepared for an active shooter as Uvalde. Its scary to think this would happen at one of the schools near me. Every police dept needs to have procedures on active shooters and the entire dept should go thru training bi-annually on it. The supervisors also need written documentation, so they _know_ they are giving the correct directive.
The answer: of course they are.
Not all cops are this cowardly and stupid. Breakdown of active shooter situation in San Jose, California. Start watching at minute 4:30 ruclips.net/video/ndhu4CTqeTo/видео.html
Uvalde PD has active shooter training 2 months before.
One of the first responders was the guy training the force for an active shooter..
🙄🥴
Well if you look at your choices of people running for president I am not surprised how incompetent your LE is. Like to dress up like overweighted macho men with guns. That the US still exist is almost hard to believe. Hopefully more competent people working behind the scenes.
My God that is sickening to watch them stand around, fire EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM
Heartbreaking!
As a retired Texas Teacher who went through active shooter traing many times Im disgusted to see LE response. I'm also disgusted to see the officers didn't even know the layout of the school. And the fact the school is completely unsecured allowing the shooter to just walk right in. These children were failed by LE and the district.
The maps of the school were out of date. This caused problems deploying snipers. Why would a police officer from another area no the layout of the school?
As someone from outside the US, it seems crazy to me that the police should know the layout of schools and teachers should have active shooter training. And this is coming from someone that is from a country with a lot of drug trafficking problems, still the time I felt more afraid of being shot at in my life was when I was in the US...
Thank you for sharing 🤦🏽♀️
@@sydtopia seriously? Out of the area? None of the officers were out of the area. All LE within a 20 mile radius should know the layout as should the fire department. The UPD and the SRO didn't know it was a classroom. How is that possible? It's their job.
@@NankitaBR that's true it is ridiculous we have to worry about that, but we do. When I first started Teaching we had Fire Drills, and tornado drills. Then a few years later they added active shooter training. At first the active shooter training seemed so unrealistic. By the time I retired it seemed more likely to have a school shooting than a fire or tornando.
All that smoke came from the gun, holy shit! I can’t believe these officers just stood around.
The end result of fearing for their lives.
Yes, this happens when firing rifle rounds in a close space. indoor Gun ranges are heavily vented to prevent this from happening, that why you all way feel a new cool breeze in the range.

Poor little ones in the classroom...
In this newly released report we now know that near 400 officers from over 20 different state and federal agencies responded to this active shooter incident, yet no one breached the classroom doors or windows to neutralize the suspect until after he had shot and killed dozens of children while they waited in the hallway for well over 1 hour.
This is dereliction of duty on the largest scale ever seen in US history. The level of incompetence of leadership is mind-boggling, the height of cowardice is incomprehensible as the report states that officers put their safety above the lives of those they were sworn to protect, thus they contributed to the murders of these children and teachers. Therefore they must be fired and charged with negligent homicide.

I literally can’t for the life of me figure out why this chief police officer Arredondo is even bothering to negotiate with this guy at 6:27 and a little before that. I can’t figure out why he’s looking for peaceful resolutions when children were dying in there. Sometimes peace just isn’t an option.
