We were on a Red Funnel Ferry to the Isle of Wight - with our fingers crossed that we would time it to 'sail' at the same time as the QM2. We couldn't have got it better (fotunately!)
Yes i worked on the QE2 from 82 to 87 i had a great life travelling the world as a steward, and now i live in civvy street with people that will never have the experience i ever had,and in fact in Brighton where its full of people at my age then i was 22 and this lot just sit in pubs and get drunk and waist away with nothing to tell their folks later in life
A beautiful piece of history captured for all to see. Thank you. I have performed on the Queen Mary 2 but never got the chance to do that on the QE2 . P.S. i love the commentary by the children .
We were stood on the stern of QE2 when QM2 sailed past us. I remember I got stuck behind a group of Japanese who were faffing about and I ran like hell up to the boat deck to see them pass. Great days.

Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant, good video tis great shame QE2 has been lost forever from the UK but at least it is said we will retain one of her anchors not sure where abouts in Southampton they will rest it.
I wish the Queen Mary 2 the Queen ELizabeth 2 and mayby Queen Victoria would have all gone to the pacific to Long Beach California to meet the Queen Mary.
Sorry, but you are wrong. This is the last goodbye from their home port. QE2 set sail for a tandem crossing to NY, with QM2, on 10th October and returned to Southampton on 22nd October. QM2 then set sail, said, "Goodbye" and several hours later QE2 left. So this was 12 days after you saw them.
For some reason i admire moments when two sister ships meet like this. I imagine what they say to each other if they could talk...

It is sad to see this , the Queen Elizabeth 2 ship was wonderful . And was the greatest part of their history . And we are going to miss this ship '

I spent the morning having a tour around QE2. I was then right on the dockside on the night she left for the last time.
By far!!! What a perfect time to be on a ferry. What a dream that moment must've been. Thanks for posting, it's picture perfect :D

So sad !!! :'(
Bye bye QE2, and god save the Queen !
Glad you like it !
The only reason I want to go to Dubai now is to see the QE2
brilliant video
I hope they build another qe2 so the queens can be back together again
Yep I was getting organised to embark on the QE2 when this was going on.
I already saw the QM2. Unfortunately i couldn't seen the QE2 before she retired. :(
But it's great video!! May Cunard live on forever!!
God bless you Queen Mary!
Hope you enjoyed the video I took !
Although I think waiting to bord the QE2 might have been at least as good :-)

i live in southampton !!!
Good video.
How sweet "Bye bye QE2"!
yes she will, but don't worry the era of golden age of ocean travel won't end Cunard will see to that, QM2, QV, QE, will bring it all back to life.
@EAFSQ9 Yes me too Love the kids voices. The kids in the back ground realy add a upper class flavor to the whole clip.
what ship were you on?
@whichway103
Thanks.
I know, but this time was the last time they were ever to meet in their home port of Southampton.
Next time will no doubt be in Dubai....
What a perspective! Were you on the Queen Victoria?
lol the cunarders have met many times at this point, & it never gets old. I hope this isn't thier lat meeting after QE2 retires.

Nice vid, albeit somewhat sad.
@borghome you see ships like that everyday?
What will happen to Queen Elizabeth 2???
You're right... for now at least....
I'm guessing that at some point QM2 will pay a visit to QE2 in Dubai ?
Dubai which bought her is planning on putting her up for sale, and she may be sold for scrapped.
lolz the little kid.
Sorry, but you are wrong.

Won't it be great when you grow up.....
Nope - it's gone to Dubai to become a "seven-star" Hotel!
Thats because they were built in foriegn yards, no British style. the Victoria is just a recylced cruise ship
@hgmjbtl M
Many thanks - right time, right place!
