Stunning photography of the most beautiful ship in the world. While there is serious concern what the new owners will ultimately do with her, it is obvious from this video that they are very proud of what they purchased. Let's all hope they respect her in her new role as flaoting hotel.
A great video for a great ship! I saw her a couple of years ago when she was docked in my country during a world voyage, but I wasn't really interested in her then so I'm quite annoyed with myself, but I hope I get to see her again in Cape Town or Dubai. Thanks again!
@GLFVIDEO She is well loved in Greenock where she came back to say Hallo on many occasions to a warm welcome & gdbye . On her last visit to Greenock on the clyde the red arrows etc & music stalls where all set up for an emotional Hallo then a final gd bye to her . She will always be in the hearts of Greenock people . Sth Hampton was her Port but she will always be in the hearts of Inverclyde people too . So she was'nt just built in the Clyde , she was born in the clyde & lived in Sth Hampton !!
Built in Clydebank by John Brown & company . Launched: frm Greenock River Clyde 20 September 1967 Christened: in Greenock River Clyde 20 September 1967 by Queen Elizabeth II
@johnblack03 She was built on the Clyde, that is all. During her lifetime she travelled up and down Southampton water, in and out of the city, Southampton "Gateway to the world". Southampton was her home port, Southampton was proudly displayed on her stern. With respect of course, you are quite wrong.
A year ago today, QE2 arrived in Dubai. Nakheel has drydocked her and given her a new coat of paint, yet her future is uncertain, given the financial status of her owners. Thankfully, the radical conversion plans are on hold and she sits, with engines run in rotation, ready to get back to sea. Plans for her to go to Capetown appear to have run afoul too. BRING HER BACK HOME TO THE UK!
Bring the QE2 back to Glasgow (via 2012 Olympics). I did a facebook group but I can't put the link in here. Try searching 'Move the QE2 to Glasgow (via London 2012)

News 2017: After years of decay the QE2 is actually undergoing work to become a centerpiece of a new marina in Port Rashid, Dubai. This is a several year project. The plan is on show, but details of the refit of QE2 are kept secret from the public, but photos show that something is going on. Of course we can't be absolutely sure before this project is completed but for now NO SCRAPPING is in sight!
@del69blue If she returns to the UK (which I very much doubt) she should return to her home port Southampton. Don't worry too much del69blue in the current economic climate, she will stay where she is. God Bless her, a truly magnificent, beautiful ship. GLF - Southampton.
future now uncertain, let hope she does not make the last trip to india for cutting up,though cant see the srap yard paying that kind of money, put who going to pay that kind of money and how are they going to get there money back, this is a major risk that back fired on the cureent owners,£50m for 30k tonnes of scrap,as there will be a sale clause that says she cant go back to sea for cruise use i bet.
This is beautiful. 2008 really was a different time.
Fabulous video. Brought tears of emotion to me for the memories of working onboard. I will be staying on her in February 2019.
Long Live Queen Elizabeth 2! Long Live the Queen! LONG LIVE QUEEN ELIZABETH! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!
A final, military salute to one of the most iconic liners ever!
I have only one word to describe... Magnificent!!!

Wonderful video. Will be amazing to see QE2 at sea in the next month or so on her way to Cape Town.
It was heartbreaking to sail past her all forlorn on the QM2 ...
Couldn't agree with you anymore!
She deserves to live the rest of her life in her home country, not some place where shes has no history with!
At the endof the day the wealthy take the decissions, sadly. At least it won't get scrapped like other legendary ships like Aquitania and Olympic.
Yes, it’s most tragic indeed. 😢
despite her dont have the same glory of her old great sisters, no doub her is a glorious ocean liner, and a very special place for good memories.
Wonderful video -Many thanks
but now she will be a hotel like the QM and i live so near to her im so happy :D
I was only 6 moths old :( but she was a good ship
Beautiful video, can't say so much about her fate (from what I've heard.)
She's now a mueum ship and hotel in dubai, better than getting scrapped since thay at least take care of her.
Who's up for hijacking some tug boats and bringing her back are self's?

It's just like when the QUEEN MARY arrived in Long Beach, CA in December, 1967.

Stunning video, brought a lump to my throat. Let's hope she's treated better than the Queen Mary.
