    Rodman was the difference clearly, the Bulls weren't going far with Kukoc at the PF spot. The Magic also had numerous injuries throughout that series, but I don't believe they would've won at full strength anyway the Bulls saw how the Rockets defended them and were able to use the same defensive scheme. All the injuries probably did was shorten the series.

      @Lamar Stewart I mean i'd consider myself a jordan fan but i don't really think it's a big deal. He came back after playing a different sport for a year and a half and he messed up. Overall had a performance that wasn't good enough to win. His stats were still great but his faults that series were in the details. But then he came back and led the Bulls to their second 3-peat with an entirely new roster aside from Pippen so to say he "made up for it" in my opinion is a massive understatement

    • @BT405
      @BT405 2 года назад +2

      @Lamar Stewart Based on this response it seems to me like you're the kinda person who gets a strange kick out of diminishing MJ for whatever reason. But I'll break it down for you anyway even if you don't bother reading it. Yes, you don't win 72 games without a great team. 1996 was a primetime for all of those guys. Jordan and Pippen BOTH made 1st team All-NBA, and them plus Rodman all made 1st team All-defense. Jordan was 6th in DPOY and Rodman was 7th. So it's not like Pippen just carried Jordan defensively. Their overall team defense was elite as they were built around that. Jordan was the main offensive engine and Pippen helped facilitate. But pretty much the whole team was good defensively. I will point out though that Rodman did miss 20 games that season, so that's a lot of time not having that league leading rebounder, and they went 15-3 without him.
      Since we're acting like Jordan didn't lead anything I'll point out that Pippen was less efficient across the board than Jordan. Kukoc shot 40% from 3 yet still had a lower 3-point percentage than Jordan. They were 11th in 3-pointers per game but 3rd in percentage, and Jordan contributed to that as well.
      They whole team played their parts pretty much perfectly that year, but are you saying that the best player on the team isn't allowed to have help? Jordan had double the offensive win-shares of Pippen, and more defensive win-shares. He led the league in ws/48, so yes he did "lead" them. Just because they played well doesn't mean he didn't lead them. Isn't a leader supposed to make his team (and teammates) better?
      When it comes to the Finals, yeah it's Jordan's worst, but are we gonna act like 27-5-4 on 42% with good defense is some terrible performance? Look at how everyone else on the Bulls played against that Sonic defense. Pretty much everyone played way worse than they usually do. The average TEAM FG% against the Sonics that playoffs was 43%. There's context to this.

    • @MR.__G
      @MR.__G 2 года назад +2

      @Lamar Stewart losses do happen. It’s apart of the game. The best part about that loss is how the bulls answered back. The bulls w Jordan lost 2 playoff series in the 90s (Pistons,Magic’s) & they responded with a 3 peat both times.

    • @MR.__G
      @MR.__G 2 года назад

      @Lamar Stewart 89-90 season goes into the 90s. That’s the year they lost to the Pistons in game 7. So I repeat after each series loss in the 90s he responded by leading a 3 peat. He played in 8 playoff series in the 90s (90,91,92,93,95,96,97,98) thats 80% of the post season… 27-2 in playoff series & never lost more than 2 games in a row when he was on the team during the 90s.

      I don't think it would've been a sweep, one of the reasons it ended up being so lopsided was without Grant the Magic had to go small for long stretches late in the games which hurt them on the boards. It's possible his presence would've helped the Magic for at least a few games.
      The Rockets were actually a more difficult matchup for them w/Grant to be honest with how they were stretching the floor. Both him and Shaq were being drawn outside a lot which gave the Rockets numerous easy scoring opportunities.
