Definetely would have been an interesting series. Documenting the burgeoning Fed/Klingon alliance. Maybe the Romulans could have made some sneaky appearances trying to derail it. Or maybe the early years of the Father of Duras too? A smattering of new discoveries and races all wrapped up in the sleek, elegant Excelsior. What a shame. Unfortunately, by the time of Generations, the Excelsior had already become obsolete with the Enterprise B being launched. Maybe a show should have been based on that ship instead.

I really wanted Star Trek: Excelsior. I went to a convention in 1993 I believe and George was the speaker and he joked about getting his own show or movie on the Excelsior. When I went to get his autograph I told him that he really should get his own show and that I used to pretend I was him when my cousin and I played at Star Trek as kids. He told me, "You're a man of good taste." I'll never forget that. 100% top notch guy.

You missed one...Assignment:Earth, which was to be a spy series loosely set in the Star Trek universe as spy series's were also popular back in the 1960's. This one actually got the CLOSEST of all of them to being commissioned, all the way to ACTUALLY MAKING the backdoor pilot episode, which was called, interestingly enough, "Assignment:Earth" which aired as part of Star Trek TOS' second season...yes, THIS is the one with the time-travelling spy Gary Seven and his shapeshifting cat! Sadly...this also got passed up when it came to a full series treatment, so, all we have of Gary Seven's fantastic time-travelling missions to preserve the proper timelines would be what we saw in the EPISODE "Assignment:Earth"...
    Such a shame...

The two TNG episodes based on Star Trek: Phase II scripts were "The Child" from Season 2 (when Troi mysteriously becomes pregnant) and "Devil's Due" in Season 4 (where the Picard and the Enterprise get involved in a dispute where a planet is prepared to give up its independence to a "demon" for supposedly saving them from disaster). The first one was mediocre (but that was true of many of the first two season episodes, especially after the writers' strike before Season 2 which forced them to recycle the Phase II script), but "Devil's Due" is great fun (sadly, while I was looking this up, I found that the beautiful and talented Marta DuBois, who did a wonderful job as the ersatz demon, passed away prematurely in 2018).

To the point Shatner complained why are they only doing this for his film and not Nimoy's. An ex worker for Paramount said they were willing to take a lose on Star Trek V just so Shatner wouldn't direct Star Trek VI. I could see Excelsior working quite well as a series. And I remember as a teenager actually looking forward to Phase II and being disappointed when they announced the Motion Picture instead. I even remember watching the first three movies and imagining characters like Decker, Ilia, David & Carol Marcus and Saavik being a part of the Phase II series. One that you didn't mention that I thought would be a terrific series was Assignment: Earth. I think Robert Lansing and Teri Garr had great chemistry together, and I believe a sort of Star Trek Meets Mission: Impossible show would have been fun to watch.

There were also episodes, like for TOS, which were never filmed. One was 'He Walked Among Us'. The Enterprise arrives at the planet Jugal, which has more advanced technology than it should. A former Starfleet Scientist Bayne Berle crashed on the planet 6 years before and used his knowledge to advance the planet's development by a thousand years. He was thus advanced to god-like status. Kirk must remove him without plunging the planet into chaos. It was the first time there was the concept of humans using advanced technology to set themselves up as deities. There were TOS episodes along those lines anyway.
Another intended episode was where they return to the planet in 'A Piece of the Action'.
There was one in which a scientist re-creates the accident that separated Kirk in two and made a human Spock and a Vulcan Spock. It reminds me of that book I read, 'Spock must die' by James Bliss.
And, of course there are episodes of the intended 4th season of TOS. Some of them were used in the animated series, nicknamed the forgotten series, and so on.

Christopher Pike's time as captain of the NCC-1701 Enterprise! We will FINALLY get to see what other adventures Pike and his crew had on our favorite Federation starship BEFORE James T. Kirk took the captain's chair! I'm not normally a fan of prequels but this scratches every itch I've had ever since learning that "The Cage" was a thing when I saw that episode for the first time back in 2000!
And yes, I AM a Classic Trek fan...which just makes me even MORE EXCITED! 😁😁😁😁 Anson Mount was DEFINITELY the best part of Discovery Season Two and for him to now get his OWN series in the iconic role...all I need is William Shatner guest starring as Commodore Robert April and I will be 100% ALL IN!

First off thanks Adam Clery for all the Trektainment!!!
You probably could have made this a 20 Treks You Never Got To See... that said here are my honorable mentions
    1. Assignment: Earth (the second season episode of the same name was a backdoor pilot)
    2. The Adventures of Harry Mudd (while planing a Harry Mudd episode for season three (sadly not made due to Roger C. Carmel not being available) there was talk of making him his own series)
    3. Spock/Vulcan series (shortly after the cancellation of TOS, Paramount proposed a spin-off series centered on Spock, featuring him living with other Vulcans... sadly Roddenberry didn't want to do it)
    4. The God Thing (a made for TV movie... before Planet of the Titans gave way to Phase II that in-turn gave way to The Motion Picture there was The God Thing)
    5. Star Trek III (for some reason back in the day, Gene Roddenberry saw TOS as (Star Trek I) and The Motion Picture as (Star Trek II) and for the next film (Star Trek III) he want to do a little time travel story where "Kirk Meets JFK")

    • @ryanperry7808
      @ryanperry7808 4 года назад

      Aww hell while I’m on a roll…
      6. Star Trek: The First Adventure (was a proposed sixth film that would have been released on the 25th anniversary and would have dealt with Kirk and Spock’s first meeting… things came together for The Undiscovered Country and The First Adventure never got made)
      7. Animated Ferengi series (back around 2001 Armin Shimerman devised an idea for an animated series about the teenage years of Quark and Rom… it got to a final pitch session with MTV before it lost steam)
      8. Star Trek: The Lions of the Night (was another proposed Captain Sulu Adventure this time as an animated film that could have spawned more such films)
      9. Star Trek: Titan (was a Captain Riker series proposed by Jonathan Frakes (around the same time J. Michael Straczynski (Re-Boot), William Shatner (Academy) and Bryan Singer (Federation) had all made their own series proposals) Paramount had rejected them all out of concern of "franchise fatigue")
      10. The Worf Chronicles (was a series proposed by Michael Dorn… instead we got Star Trek: Discovery)

i read somewhere that a story about life on a space station was was pitched as a ST show, but was passed on and eventually became babylon 5...
then when babylon 5 did so well, star trek did their own version and called it DS9...

    • @jasonwalker9471
      @jasonwalker9471 4 года назад

Almost. The way I understand it, Babylon 5 was originally pitched to a number of studios, including what is now CBS/Paramount/Viacom. When it came time to create a new Star Trek series, executives at the company took the Babylon 5 treatment they had been given during the pitch, and gave it to the Star Trek producers as if it were their own property to use however they wanted. Various ideas from the Babylon 5 universe then ended up being worked into the new show. Even character names (like Dukat) were stolen straight from the Babylon 5 treatment, because the writers didn't know that they weren't allowed to do that. Many elements of the show, like the Cardassian occupation of Bajor (Centarui occupation of Narn), the wormhole (jump gate), the station itself, the fact that they didn't have a permanent ship at first but only a few runabouts, the fact that they were on the frontier outside of Federation space, the Obsidian Order (intended to be called the "Grey Order", like the "Grey Council" from B5), and Section 31 (Bureau 13) were all taken straight from Babylon 5.
When the writers found out that Babylon 5 was its own show, and that the writers and producers of that show were reaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly pissed off by how their work had been stolen, they tried to change as many elements as they could, but a lot of it was already baked into DS9 and it was too late to do anything about it.

1 - Starfleet Marines - Band of Brothers style show set during the klingon war in DS9.
2 - Federation Intelligence - Bashir works for Federation Intelligence agency battling S31.
3 - President - West wing style show about the first human colonist president and rebuilding and demilitarising after the Dominion War
4 - Greenfellas - set on the federation's economic powerhouse of orion, it has federation law enforcement FBI versus orion syndicate
5 - Romulan war - what was promised for Enterprise series 5
6 - Rogues - Nova class ship gets stuck behind enemy lines in the Dominion war becomes part of starfleet special operations.
7 - Klingon wars prior to TOS - Though Anaxar seems to do that pretty well...
So those are probably terrible but what would anyone else pitches be?

Actually the ship design that influenced Star Trek Discovery was for Planet of the Titans, a movie idea that preceded Phase 2. The idea was that Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise went back in time to become the Titans of ancient myth.
