      Hahaha. This is the new normal. I bet my house it'll never be "msrp" or even close to it. The margins of profit have been evaporated by higher wages paid to chip makers and tariffs. Even if it were to "normalize" your buying power will be severely diminished due to higher taxes and cost of living from the future administration. As I said. Welcome to the new normal. Just take it in the ass and buy the fn cards. I bought a pre-built 3080 for 2k. In 2 weeks it's now 2.3k.

    I totally agree with reviews coming out as early as possible, that way the buyer has options. I bought the gigabyte rtx 3080 gaming oc with confidence since I already saw steve's review, I also bought a new 850W psu because the power draw was a bit too high for me to be comfortable remaining with my 700W psu, and then I used msi afterburner to change the fan curves because my room A/C is louder than what the gaming oc can ever produce. The best part in all of these is that I was ready, I re-assembled my pc with the new psu and installed msi afterburner before I got the card.

    • @esamahzan9544
      @esamahzan9544 3 года назад +14

      True. And not many could afford to wait like some us for the price to drop, maybe their card died and they need a new one, and considering that even the previous gen or used gpu market price being just as insane, if they can find the current gen cards, even if they are priced a bit higher, it might be a better purchase than last gen card that might be as expensive. The review could help those people make their decision.

    The "don't review" argument is just silly. We need these reviews to make the best decision, so if you care about what guys like Steve have to say the review should come before the purchase. That's just common sense.
    Second, board partners don't determine launch date or availability.
    Third, if a board partner decides to hold but until greater availability that will just further limit supply in the short-term and add nothing in the mid-term.
    As for the free advertising argument, we know these cards are out and they don't need any help selling out.

    i prefer for the review to keep coming out regardless of availability. You dont know when these cards are going to be available at reasonable prices, but you want to be well informed prior to when such opportunity rises

    Why are people crying about reviews right now?? Pump them out asap! That gives me time to research, compare and come to a decision before they become available! That way I can have the opportunity to try to buy one sooner!!
    I want reviews!

    The current prices for GPU cards should be reviewed by lawful means. It's ridiculous for the price currently witnessed for these sub-par electrical items.

    Steve maybe do a poll if folks still want to hear the stock unavailable disclaimer? I love seeing the reviews and it has allowed me to at least preorder the right one for me and get a new PSU etc. Saves you a bit of time maybe and you can update stock availability later or on a Q and A.

    red devil 6900xt OC VS eVGA 3080 ftw ultra , FOR the same price, which one should I get???, I have them both, only intending to keep one

      Most would probably prefer the 6900XT, but I would take the 3080 as I think RTX is overall a better platform (DLSS, superior ray tracing)

    Slick card! I have the sapphire 6800 xt SE, and it makes me miss the simple designs without all the RGB and bright accents. Micro Center has been the go-to for achieving any kind of card in the US. eBay is always there for the rich kids.

    Totally agree that its good to get the reviews out even tho cards is not available. In my country the prices are somewhat in line with msrp, but ofc out of stock. I have been waiting for reviews before i made a buy, since the only people who gets theese cards now is on the waiting list.

    What i want to see is a red devil 6900xt overcclocked to the max with a 5950x overclocked to the max, overclocked infinity fabric, over clocked memory with lowest cas timings 1to1 with infinity fabric+SAM. That would be epic!

    Nice intro! Man I've almost forgotten these cards are actually really freaking good, just because I haven't seen stock and if it's in stock it's €900+ for a €600 MSRP..

    Steve are you doing these tear downs before or after benchmarks? Also could you include thermals with the custom paste you're using aswell?

      The GPU die temp is always reported before tear down, this is standard stuff mate.

    Well done, PowerColor.
    I have to admit after the GN review of the 5700 Red Dragon, I didn’t hold out much hope for PowerColor’s freshly rebranded MSRP option. I saw the fan shroud and my worry grew, but this review leaves me suitably impressed.

      And in late 2022 this GPU is used on eBay for $400 U.S. flat. I’m very tempted, but given that the 1100 minimum RPM on my 5700XT Nitro+ is too loud for me, I doubt anything other than a 6650XT Nitro+ or a Noctua 3070 will satisfy me. It’s hard to accept that I’ll be throwing 40% of my performance out the window at the same price compared to the Fighter. Anyone know the minimum fan speed you can set in AMD software on this card?

    • @tonkatoytruck
      @tonkatoytruck Год назад

      @@djsnowpdx Zero fan speed, if you want, all the way up to 60C. After that, i is up to you what temps you are willing to go with and what performance you want to sacrifice.

    Appreciate the vids Steve, we can always look back on this kind of content to research your reviews when stock returns to normal. It is frustrating not being able to get these at a reasonable price but at the end of the day, it's only a bit of computer hardware. Nobody's gonna die cos they have to wait a couple of months for an upgrade. I think perspective is needed out there. Keep up the good work! :-)
