    So the 6800 and 4070 trade blows equally, depending on the title. Honestly, very Impressive on AMD. However, Nvidia's value point is totally off base. You can get used RX 6800s for around $400, and a new AIB model for around $500. The 4070, however, runs for $600, comes with 4GBs less VRAM, offering the same, or less performance most of the time. Some games did prefer the newer architecture, and that's normal. But it doesn't justify $100-$150 more. I'm so thankful I chose the 6800.

    TLDR, the biggest difference is the frame times. 6800 is smoothe as glass compared to the 4070. My guess is it has to do with the wider memory bus in the 6800.

  • @onimusha13
    @onimusha13 7 месяцев назад +8

    Some comparisons are even more hilarious considering that RX 6800 while running at technically smaller FPS, than RTX 4070, such as Atomic Heart (81 vs 98 AVG FPS), still runs smoother thanks to lower signal fluctuations - Nvidia's cheapening on minor components such as memory bus width bites them back in the ass.

      @@anitaremenarova6662no, in 4k the 4070 will be WAY WORSE. you realize that upping the resolution will up the vram need? the 4070 has 4 gb less. it prob was a benchmark with dlss framegen on, but not fsr framegen.

      @@tarkitarker0815 Yeah, because it's not meant to be used for anything higher than 1440p, at that point you need 16gb minimum.

    Just convinced me to skip this gen and keep my aorus 6800 master. Id assume since it can clear 2.4ghz with an overclock it matchs and beat a 4070 without raytracing

    Nvidia absolutely wrecked AMD here 😂
    I'm only joking. I'm a big fan of Nvidia cards ( not the price)
    But I currently have the msi gaming trio 6800 sat in my ebuyer basket. Just seems really good value for a nice looking card.

      i mean if you gonna compare the performance of this 2 cards i would still go with the rx 6800 cuz of the price the rtx 4070 almost double the price of rx 6800

    Y'all are lucky, in my country brand new RX6800 costs $500 while brand new RTX 4070 is $800 lol, not even worth it getting Nvidia here since the sellers are bunch of arsehole for hijacking the prices

    How does it happen, that your rx 6800 draws around the same power as rtx 4070? It has tdp of 250w compared to rtx 4070s 200W?

      Undervolting. The RX 6800 can be extremely efficient when undervolted while keeping roughly the same performance.
      It's supposed to increase the longevity of the card aswell, since it runs cooler.
      It doesn't apply for all the AMD cards however, for example the RX 6800 XT isn't that efficient even when undervolted. But you can find out which card has this potential with a quick Reddit search.

      @@br0s4ver56not even undervolted, it just automaticly adjusts its voltage curve if the chip is good enough to drive stock boosts with low volts. my silent bios has like 175w powerdraw at 2175mhz, boost bios 2350mhz 200w, i rock 2550 at 260w if i feel funny.

    So basically new and shiny and 100 dollars more expensive perform in some games same and in some slightly better than 2 year old card. GPU segment of the PC market is a joke.
