Very less TMUs/ROPs, less Texels/s etc and Cyberpunk is a little bit optimize for AMD Radeon for once too, even tho they partnership with Nvidia, since it's a company with a background of money problem in Poland wouldn't be surprise they optimize for AMD and you can see if a game is optimized for AMD that Nvidia RTX is BS money grab, only think that is bad is RT and PT.

Running it for about 2 days now nonstop crunching scientific data for Einstein at home, at 100% all the time and yeah hardly reaches 60 degrees. And extremely quiet. So much so that now CPU fan is bothering me and looking into replacing it.
And then men discovered DLSS. For those who are still complaining about the quality loss I suggest to try the most recent versions at QHD or more, it improved A LOT, I bet that in most of the scenaries you can't even tell the difference if you set it on quality or balanced. Why does the AMD have more VRAM but also take more space? for example in RDR2, it takes 4070 super 6 GB but amd takes 13 GB. Or Diablo 3 14 GB on AMD, only 9 GB on Nvidia, does anyone have an answer?
From what I've read, it takes up more space because it's available not necessarily because it's actively using it. That's good because that's the point of VRAM, having things ready for when needed.
It's simple, games need a lot of memory and if it shows that it eats 13GB of RAM at 32, it can give birth to 28. Also, with video memory, 32GB is needed so that they sit down and if there is no memory leak, it will calm down to 20 GB.
If you are trying to decide, remember the GRE overclocks quite well, bringing the performance closer to the 4070 ti super, and getting more then 15-20% more performance then a stock 7800xt. And, it’s only $30 more then the 7800xt in the US. 😉

@@enfantterrible4868 I wouldn't. The lowest I would go is 650 Watts. Depending on the CPU you have, it should run fine at 550 Watts, but you typically want a little headroom.
Can you please remake this test but with flight simulator only? Or another few games added? Flight sim is very hardware demanding game, it's awesome for tests, fly low around New York and Tokyo for tests.
In my country's prices, there are some 4070 SUPER brands that are cheaper than 7900 GRE. (At least from what I have searched for in the net.) I'm a bit tempted to buy a 4070 SUPER, for ray tracing, but I think I will wait for the next Gen gpu's first. Which I am hoping their VRAM will be higher.

Was just buying a new GPU and chose Powercolor Radeon RX 7900 GRE Hellhound thanks also to this video. Just how I like it: no marketing BS with fake frames and fake resolutions. Also with no RT which is mostly useless these days unless you spend insane amounts of money for GPU (these 4 are already quite insane enough for me thank you) and so few games making good use of it. Also perfect since I already have just the same CPU:) AMD Radeon comes out as a clear winner with all the things that matter, and also the price is better. Also since I plan to switch to GNU/Linux also for gaming (Steam Deck showed me how good it is) and away from spyware/adware/bloatware that is Windows, there AMD also is considered better supported. The only thing that I do not like is higher power usage, but hey you can't have it all, at least at this moment. But Powercolor Hellhound that I ordered appears to have very low temperatures and is nicely quiet. So yeah thanks again for informative video.
If you aren't playing esports titles limit the fps to no more than 100fps and you will see that power consumption go right down. Undervolt it and it goes down even more.....totally worth it imho.
in some games at 1080p, all the gpus had usage of 80% or lower. I wonder whether there was a bottleneck somewhere, because when switched to 1440p, they went up to 100% or there were some game engines limitations.
Depends on the game. On games like escape from tarkov, and black desert. Optimization and bottleneck are the issue. Tarkov is notoriously unoptimized while bdo runs on very old engine causing low gpu usage. But like what the earlier comment mentioned. Lower resolution tend to require more cpu power when using beefier GPUs.

@@Richihi-ym6rs The processor is always loaded. just if you have 16 cores and 1-2 cores are loaded, you will be shown 20-30% lol. I have a frequent situation in games when one bucket is loaded at 80-100 and the rest at 20
just watch the clips , they record frametime and 1% lows...(edit : you cant really put in avg 1%lows since these are for specific stages and happen from time to time , most gpus have the same 1%lows depending of performance but in this test , the 1%lows will show more in 4k than anything , it doesnt ruin the experience if you have a gre since it rarely stutters in ultra graphics (in tarkov at least).)
@allex975gaming I know they add the information. I specified if they can highlight it as they did with the avg. I strongly disagree with you. 1% low are way more important that you make them and do not happen from time to time IF the graphic card is suffering. There are different games where the cards are head to head in avg framerate but not in 1% low. thus making a card WAY better than the other is those games.
@@silverroos yeah but if the card is struggling you can tell by the frametime . The 1% lows are only important when you try to reach maximum fps , but most of the time you will limit the fps at like 144 or smth depending on the monitor . I personally have a 165hz monitor and my 7900gre can play most games at that refresh rate without stuttering (tarkov stays at around 100-120 fps , gtfo stays at 140-160 fps etc. ) . Most modern gpus dont have stability issues and most of the time it is the game's optimization that leads to stattering. So i would recommend looking at just frametimes instead of numbers since that is a more accurate representation of a smooth experience.

If frametime is important to you (as it should), 1% lows should be as well, because a spiky frametime is the result of discrepancy between avg fps and 1% low. So youre right about frametime, its just 1% low is basically the same thing. Plus having a modern GPU or not just doesnt make any sense. I have a 7800xt, its not about the hw, its about how the game are optimized on such hw AND if there is any bottleneck (combination GPU, CPU, RAM, SSD and mosty backgroud sw). Check the same video we are commenting, can you spot the games that have vram issue by the avg framerate? nope, but you can easily with 1% low
@@silverroos i get what you mean but almost all gpus dont have stuttering issues in almost all games . If you have even a 7700xt you will be fine in 1080p or 1440p medium settings . It all depends on the game optimization . Older gpus had problems with stability due to manufacturing issues but today everything is fixed (almost) . I understand why you want to know the 1% lows but tou should also know that it all depends on what i said , optimization . Cyberpunk for example was poorly optimized in the start and every gpu would stutter at higher settings , today even a 7800xt can play it at high settings . What i truly meant about frametimes was that the experience will depend on that , so dont worry about 1% lows , these are also affected by loading screens , cutscenes etc. . When i want to know if my game will be playable i always look for stuttering through the frametime , because i also know if there is delay in ms . Nvidia usually offers better stability but lower framerates so most single player games will feel smoother on that card than most AMD ones . Its all a matter of game design. Even the 4090 couldn't run cyberpunk like a year ago at ultra 🤣.
its abit weir i have rx 7900 gre gigabyte gaming oc and rx 3900x and in 4K i got in cyberpunk around 56fps no joke in phantom liberty welllll around 45 fps soo yeah but in classic cyberpunk its allmost 60fps in 4k . But still the fact that only RTX 4070 super is 50 eur more expensive in my country is crazy well now price drop aroun the gap to 20 eur but thats only cuz now are sales but damn even rx 7900 gre is like 630 eur here and rtx 4070 super is allmost 670eur crazy high for what it is, im glad that i choose GRE best performer for 1440p but i have to say 7800xt is best gre for buck to play 1440p cuz gap between gre and 78 xr is minimal and price is quite different even here sadly alll 7800 xt was sold out soo ill take gre model and im not disapointed and definitelly not going back to nvidia ever.

You talk as if the RX 7900 GRE can't handle ray tracing at all. I'm currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 with an RX 7800XT with ray tracing on medium and it's going at 70 fps on a 2k monitor with everything on ultra.

if u are going to use a graphics card i think that the 8700f is not the best price to performance cpu in my opinion u could buy a ryzen 5 7600 and it would be more than enough even for a rx7900, and sorry i can help u with the ram i only have used ddr5
Without a raytracing comparison this and a lot of similar videus are useless for me. Nobody will play games like FP2077 or Alan Wake 2 without rt maxed and I need to know the performance. It seems like some reviewers try to purposefully boost AMD by not doing RT comparisons. On the other hand every reviewer does 4k on some midrange cards which are not made for 4k anyways. Nobody below a 4080 will ever play 4k in games like CP2077, Alan Wake 2 or similar. I mean you could with DLSS performance but that is not representative. For me DLSS quality/FSR Quality is the only representative performance boost with FG to be compared after. I'm leaving a thumbs up either way because of the effort of making these, but it would be nice if I wouldn't have to look for hours to cherry pick reviews who actually do rt comparisons.

I have 7800 XT and OC it for witcher 3 and have stable 70fps experience with ray tracing on + ultra settings. Even AMD is capable in RT if you know how to tweak the settings. My point about Nvidia is DLSS thats why im upgrading on 4079 ti super or maybe some 16GB card of 50 series.

Only thing I don’t like about the AMD cards is the somewhat high power usage, almost 300w on some of those tests while the 4070 hit barely 200 on a few. I guess if you have a really big psu it doesn’t matter but just what I noticed
I really like AMD raw power but I personally find more value and reliability in Nvidia hardware and software as of today. I hope this changes on the near future

Ambas marcas me dieron los resultados esperados pero en el caso de AMD, con sus tarjetas si tuve más problemas y tuve que hacerles un seguimiento más cercano para poder sacarle el máximo rendimiento.

AMD with up to 40-50% higher power consumption. In 3-4 hours at full power they draw 1kw/h from the power line, with Nvidia it is 5-6 hours for 1kw/h. That's an average of 2kw/h more. Work it out for yourself over the year. This quickly puts the price into perspective in favour of Nvidia. Plus better RT and better upscaling.
Why weren't DLSS and FSR used during the test? Nvidia cards win precisely because of their low power consumption and DLSS and FG features. I'm currently using RTX 4070 Super and R5 7500f at 1440p and I don't notice any bottleneck.

The two main reasons nVidia GPUs are better are superior upscaling tech and better RT performance. Not displaying any of those would make one think Radeons are a better choice. They aren't for quite a lot of people.

@@otravoyadnoe its true that Nvidia delivers better RT, but i'd consider 4080+ gpus to really enjoy RT. DLSS is better atm, but i always prefer native, and only consider an upscaler for longevity. FG is only viable if im getting at least 80fps, and even then id be worried about input lag (really noticeable on AW2 for example). For productivity - Blender - Nvidia hands down is the best option

Had a few windforce gpus over the years. Never had issues or complaints about them. The lower clock speeds vs the gaming oc version is marginal

Why does the AMD have more VRAM but also take more space?
for example in RDR2, it takes 4070 super 6 GB but amd takes 13 GB. Or Diablo 3 14 GB on AMD, only 9 GB on Nvidia, does anyone have an answer?
From what I've read, it takes up more space because it's available not necessarily because it's actively using it. That's good because that's the point of VRAM, having things ready for when needed.
It's simple, games need a lot of memory and if it shows that it eats 13GB of RAM at 32, it can give birth to 28. Also, with video memory, 32GB is needed so that they sit down and if there is no memory leak, it will calm down to 20 GB.

The gre need to oc to show diff compare to 7800xt and the gigabyte fans spin at 2k is at high side spin.
If you are trying to decide, remember the GRE overclocks quite well, bringing the performance closer to the 4070 ti super, and getting more then 15-20% more performance then a stock 7800xt. And, it’s only $30 more then the 7800xt in the US. 😉

@@enfantterrible4868 I wouldn't. The lowest I would go is 650 Watts. Depending on the CPU you have, it should run fine at 550 Watts, but you typically want a little headroom.
Can you please remake this test but with flight simulator only? Or another few games added? Flight sim is very hardware demanding game, it's awesome for tests, fly low around New York and Tokyo for tests.

I just bought a 7800xt for 350$. I was going to go for the 7900GRE, but everywhere I looked, it was around 700$.
In my country's prices, there are some 4070 SUPER brands that are cheaper than 7900 GRE. (At least from what I have searched for in the net.)

Was just buying a new GPU and chose Powercolor Radeon RX 7900 GRE Hellhound thanks also to this video. Just how I like it: no marketing BS with fake frames and fake resolutions. Also with no RT which is mostly useless these days unless you spend insane amounts of money for GPU (these 4 are already quite insane enough for me thank you) and so few games making good use of it. Also perfect since I already have just the same CPU:) AMD Radeon comes out as a clear winner with all the things that matter, and also the price is better. Also since I plan to switch to GNU/Linux also for gaming (Steam Deck showed me how good it is) and away from spyware/adware/bloatware that is Windows, there AMD also is considered better supported. The only thing that I do not like is higher power usage, but hey you can't have it all, at least at this moment. But Powercolor Hellhound that I ordered appears to have very low temperatures and is nicely quiet. So yeah thanks again for informative video.
If you aren't playing esports titles limit the fps to no more than 100fps and you will see that power consumption go right down. Undervolt it and it goes down even more.....totally worth it imho.

in some games at 1080p, all the gpus had usage of 80% or lower. I wonder whether there was a bottleneck somewhere, because when switched to 1440p, they went up to 100% or there were some game engines limitations.
That's because lower resolutions require more CPU power
Depends on the game. On games like escape from tarkov, and black desert. Optimization and bottleneck are the issue. Tarkov is notoriously unoptimized while bdo runs on very old engine causing low gpu usage. But like what the earlier comment mentioned. Lower resolution tend to require more cpu power when using beefier GPUs.

just watch the clips , they record frametime and 1% lows...(edit : you cant really put in avg 1%lows since these are for specific stages and happen from time to time , most gpus have the same 1%lows depending of performance but in this test , the 1%lows will show more in 4k than anything , it doesnt ruin the experience if you have a gre since it rarely stutters in ultra graphics (in tarkov at least).)

I strongly disagree with you. 1% low are way more important that you make them and do not happen from time to time IF the graphic card is suffering. There are different games where the cards are head to head in avg framerate but not in 1% low. thus making a card WAY better than the other is those games.
@@silverroos yeah but if the card is struggling you can tell by the frametime . The 1% lows are only important when you try to reach maximum fps , but most of the time you will limit the fps at like 144 or smth depending on the monitor . I personally have a 165hz monitor and my 7900gre can play most games at that refresh rate without stuttering (tarkov stays at around 100-120 fps , gtfo stays at 140-160 fps etc. ) . Most modern gpus dont have stability issues and most of the time it is the game's optimization that leads to stattering. So i would recommend looking at just frametimes instead of numbers since that is a more accurate representation of a smooth experience.
@@allex975gaming Youre confused a bit. frametimes and 1% lows are stictly correlated. If frametime is important to you (as it should), 1% lows should be as well, because a spiky frametime is the result of discrepancy between avg fps and 1% low.
So youre right about frametime, its just 1% low is basically the same thing.
Plus having a modern GPU or not just doesnt make any sense. I have a 7800xt, its not about the hw, its about how the game are optimized on such hw AND if there is any bottleneck (combination GPU, CPU, RAM, SSD and mosty backgroud sw).
Check the same video we are commenting, can you spot the games that have vram issue by the avg framerate? nope, but you can easily with 1% low
@@silverroos i get what you mean but almost all gpus dont have stuttering issues in almost all games . If you have even a 7700xt you will be fine in 1080p or 1440p medium settings . It all depends on the game optimization . Older gpus had problems with stability due to manufacturing issues but today everything is fixed (almost) . I understand why you want to know the 1% lows but tou should also know that it all depends on what i said , optimization . Cyberpunk for example was poorly optimized in the start and every gpu would stutter at higher settings , today even a 7800xt can play it at high settings . What i truly meant about frametimes was that the experience will depend on that , so dont worry about 1% lows , these are also affected by loading screens , cutscenes etc. . When i want to know if my game will be playable i always look for stuttering through the frametime , because i also know if there is delay in ms . Nvidia usually offers better stability but lower framerates so most single player games will feel smoother on that card than most AMD ones . Its all a matter of game design. Even the 4090 couldn't run cyberpunk like a year ago at ultra 🤣.

its abit weir i have rx 7900 gre gigabyte gaming oc and rx 3900x and in 4K i got in cyberpunk around 56fps no joke in phantom liberty welllll around 45 fps soo yeah but in classic cyberpunk its allmost 60fps in 4k . You talk as if the RX 7900 GRE can't handle ray tracing at all. I'm currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 with an RX 7800XT with ray tracing on medium and it's going at 70 fps on a 2k monitor with everything on ultra.
i think cs2 it's not op[timized good and valve need to update their upscaling setting it's blurry as shit and it does not boost fps

Without a raytracing comparison this and a lot of similar videus are useless for me. Nobody will play games like FP2077 or Alan Wake 2 without rt maxed and I need to know the performance. It seems like some reviewers try to purposefully boost AMD by not doing RT comparisons. On the other hand every reviewer does 4k on some midrange cards which are not made for 4k anyways. Nobody below a 4080 will ever play 4k in games like CP2077, Alan Wake 2 or similar. I mean you could with DLSS performance but that is not representative. For me DLSS quality/FSR Quality is the only representative performance boost with FG to be compared after.
I'm leaving a thumbs up either way because of the effort of making these, but it would be nice if I wouldn't have to look for hours to cherry pick reviews who actually do rt comparisons.

I have 7800 XT and OC it for witcher 3 and have stable 70fps experience with ray tracing on + ultra settings. Even AMD is capable in RT if you know how to tweak the settings. My point about Nvidia is DLSS thats why im upgrading on 4079 ti super or maybe some 16GB card of 50 series.

The only very different rt preset is cyberpunk overdrive mode. Other games look very similar to rasterized. You lose half of performance for nothing
Only thing I don’t like about the AMD cards is the somewhat high power usage, almost 300w on some of those tests while the 4070 hit barely 200 on a few. I guess if you have a really big psu it doesn’t matter but just what I noticed
I really like AMD raw power but I personally find more value and reliability in Nvidia hardware and software as of today. I hope this changes on the near future

Ambas marcas me dieron los resultados esperados pero en el caso de AMD, con sus tarjetas si tuve más problemas y tuve que hacerles un seguimiento más cercano para poder sacarle el máximo rendimiento.

AMD with up to 40-50% higher power consumption. In 3-4 hours at full power they draw 1kw/h from the power line, with Nvidia it is 5-6 hours for 1kw/h. That's an average of 2kw/h more. Work it out for yourself over the year. This quickly puts the price into perspective in favour of Nvidia. Plus better RT and better upscaling.
You can undervolt the amd card without sacrificing the performance.
If someone is looking at this tier of cards, they wouldnt mind paying for their electric bills 😂

Why weren't DLSS and FSR used during the test? Nvidia cards win precisely because of their low power consumption and DLSS and FG features. I'm currently using RTX 4070 Super and R5 7500f at 1440p and I don't notice any bottleneck.

I remember back then it was 1050ti or RX570. It was clear as day you get a whole lot more with RX570. But 1050ti sells better anyway. This was before DLSS, RTX and AI whatnot.

Wth why 4070 s give more fps in every aaa title but other are falling with the double power consumption it's mean that's every aaa coming up are not suitable for amd cards 😢

not a lot at 1440p, maybe 2-4% look the cpu usage. But its limit true. Would have been realy bad in 1080p like 12%
at 1080p even better cpus can bottleneck the card, at 1440p wont have any issues.

The two main reasons nVidia GPUs are better are superior upscaling tech and better RT performance. Not displaying any of those would make one think Radeons are a better choice. They aren't for quite a lot of people.

@@otravoyadnoe its true that Nvidia delivers better RT, but i'd consider 4080+ gpus to really enjoy RT. DLSS is better atm, but i always prefer native, and only consider an upscaler for longevity. FG is only viable if im getting at least 80fps, and even then id be worried about input lag (really noticeable on AW2 for example). For productivity - Blender - Nvidia hands down is the best option
@@sliceofbliss761 honestly TAA (as most mean it when they say "native") is horrendous in like 9 games out of 10 these days, I literally prefer DLSS Q over that soft and smeary "native" most of the times
