I always think of this as the Diane Keaton episode...she does a fantastic job, imo. And, particularly with the pointless James/Evelyn storyline...Keaton's direction really elevates these scenes, from a purely artistic perspective. Ed and Norma's conversations hit a lot harder now that I'm older than them. And any episode with Albert is a good episode for me 🥰 Catherine was at the mill around the time that Coop was shot...but yes, she is kind of evil...I really feel for Josie here, being talked about as though she is a 'thing'. And, yes, I feel sorry for Leo too...Windom seems insane...his unhinged behaviour is unpredictable and terrifying. Brilliant intro and reaction ❤
Your reaction to Twin Peaks is very entertaining to watch 😄 The intros are awesome shoutout to the co-creator 🙌 Can’t wait to see what you think of the 3rd season!
The next episode until the end feel Much more unified again. It feels like a return to quality. You’ve made it through the rough patch of 5 episodes (I honestly don’t think epsiode 17 was a bad one. It sets up the new direction nicely). Can’t wait for the rest of the reactions, especially for the finale of season 2.
David Patrick Kelly plays Jerry Horne. He also had some very memorable villain roles in The Warriors, Commando, and The Crow. Kenneth Welsh passed away just a couple years ago. He was in a great 2016 under-the-radar horror flick called The Void.
I love David Lynch. Sometimes I'm convinced I'm the only human being who knows about the shakuhachi being used as battons. Lynch is in the details. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed.
ah! nice shake! as always my compliments to your co-creator! this episode speaks for itself doesn't it? Diane Keaton did a good job but brought it to a level that no one could, not even Lynch! some say it's too much, that the episode doesn't fit with the others. as for me, the more I watch it and the more I see things that the other episodes did that are just a little bit less subtile like the square windows in the doors with people's faces in them, that stuff happens before this episode! but yeah! she went weird for being weird in some other areas. we don't fault her! it is Twin Peaks after all! she did some very iconic shots for sure though!😁 Harry: "Bobby Briggs... button it!", Albert: "GET A LIFE PUNK!", "I'M WORRIED ABOUT COOP!" and his compliment to Dale, Nadine twisting the trophy's head at the end of their scene! all classic and iconic! oh! and, if you look on the map, all the places they found a picture creates a C for Caroline! 😮no one in town knows who Windom Earle is! let's not forget that part when we see him in disguise. no one even knows where he is! so as the viewer we know more than everyone in town! it's gonna be easy to forget this later! when you see Windom coming out of the elevator he crosses Dale's path but Dale didn't see him, so no special powers of "feeling Windom near him in a room" confirmed! 😅 but of course in his room later he knows he's been there and sure still feels his presence! what an ending again! that mask always creeps me out! I think the zapper that Leo gets was meant for Dale but Leo "...ruined it!" still not sure! even I, feel bad for Leo! 😖 what is he planning with the girls? hmmmm? I think I heard that David wasn't happy with Earle not being in a black suit for that scene with Leo, but it makes him even more weird to me. some compare the fact that he's dressed like that playing the flute to the famous mystical character Satyr Vector playing a flute? yeah i see it now! thank you Google! 😅aaah! the James storyline comes to an end! but is it really over? hmmm?🤔that ABC commercial brought me back in time... and space! maybe the legal smoke helped? 😅 my nostalgia says thanks! Ben is back! I've heard The Wizard Of Oz is Lynch's favorite film/story! for more on that watch his movie Wild At Heart! well... watch all his movies! that's what I'm doing this whole vacation week! love the Pete/Dale moment! Harry feels worst (him missing the board with the dart always gives me a clue that he knows things now and he's not happy!) and so he's even more mixed with all the Josie stuff! we are now entering the final countdown! are you ready? (I like that even in the doll moments there's enough little gems in them to keep you interested!) as usual your reactions are awesome and keep having fun!
Interesting point...I've never given much thought to what Windom's original intention might have been with the 'necklace' zapper. Just assumed he was the kind of person to have random unpleasant tricks up his sleeve, just in case. Glad you mentioned the 'C' for Caroline on the map...I was going to, but then completely forgot 😊
@@Reel_Food How has that NEVER occurred to me!?! I was only focused on the fact that wedding items belonging to Caroline were being posted to those specific locations, so I thought the 'C for Caroline' was part of Windom's taunting. But 'C for Cooper' makes just as much sense! As Patrick says, it could be both!
The infamous Diane Keaton episode! Definitely a complex one. Somehow simultaneously both the worst and best episode of the season 2 slump. The cheesiest writing yet combined with the most interesting and artistic flourishes by Keaton. Call me crazy, but the more times I rewatch Twin Peaks, the more the Evelyn/James plot grows on me. It may be dumb and insufferable, but at least it's entertainingly campy and melodramatic. I love a good dumb storyline, but I can't do boring. And everything to do with Ben Horne's Civil War plot bores me to tears. James' wooden acting is so hilarious in this episode. "WHY DID YOU DO IT?" And yeah, I think we all have the same reaction to _that_ cringiest of all James' lines.
These reaction videos are so great! Real Food, here’s an idea… before starting on Season 3, slide in a reaction to Psych S05E12 “Dual Spires”, a loving homage to Twin Peaks.
Most Definitely! I completely forgot about that one. Loved all of guest appearances from "Twin Peaks" characters in "Dual Spires"...clever word play did 😆
This is widely considered the worst episode of Twin Peaks so you're definitely not alone. Personally I like it a lot more than most of the middle season 2 episodes. While the James plot still sucks I do think this the most interesting part of it, I love watching Windom torture Leo, and I am an unapologetic defender of Ben's entire arc in season 2. I get that some people are uncomfortable with all of the confederacy iconography in these scenes but I think it's kinda genius to have a character as villainous and selfish and egotistical as Ben see his own downfall as important as the civil war (and of course he would side with the confederacy, he's such a gross pos). Also it lets Dr Jacoby be a weird quack which I wish we got more of in the series and I love the idea of this theatrical production going on in Ben's office. Probably didn't need to go on as long as it did but I still have a soft spot for it. I think you'll be way more into the show starting with the next episode though.
Also Wendy Robie plays Nadine! She was also fantastic in The People Under The Stairs, which also stars the actor who plays Big Ed. Great movie if you haven't seen it!
There's been some rethinking from hard-core fans, like myself, on this episode. We actually think the episode where Little Nicky appears in the thought bubble to be the worst moment of everything Twin Peaks related.
You're out of the woods (with Twin Peaks that's usually where you'd wanna be), finally. It makes me so happy that you share my disgust for this James storyline.
Things are getting back to "normal" as we begin to wind down. The dopey Emo-BoyJames tangent is finally over and things start to get a little weird, as we all like it in Twin Peak, the woods, and the Black Lodge....spoooky btw, nice "Omen" flashback with David Warner!!
I've been waiting for this one. Diane Keaton kills it as a director. Plus it has David Warner, which I didn't even remember. (Are there people who don't like maraschino cherries? Oh, and I'm definitely pro-malted.)
The intros take your videos beyond mere reaction and into the realm of art. 25:27 The last time I watched this episode, I was sufficiently un-gripped by Evelyn’s exposition that I noticed subtle sounds in the background indicating that Malcolm was sneaking up. A nice bit of low-key attention to detail in an otherwise tiresome scene. I think episode 11 is my least favourite, largely because of that scene of James riding his bike which feels as if it goes on for slightly longer than the universe has actually existed. At the end of season 1 Catherine had (off-screen) narrowly escaped being burned to death in the mill, so I’m not sure she had time to pop home, borrow one of Josie’s coats, nip round to the Great Northern, shoot Dale and put the coat back before fleeing to wherever Andrew had been hiding out ever since faking his own death.
If anybody knows someone that wants to check out Twin Peaks, give them the following words of wisdom: There are several subplots in season 2 that are boring, cringey, and/or add nothing to the overall plot of the show. You will figure out which ones fit this description very quickly. Feel free to skip through them. Just read the wikipedia episode summaries afterwards if you're a completionist.
No. This is the worst possible advice you can give them. Don't tell them anything about it. Only do it after they're done with the whole thing or if they express that the show has gotten worse. Don't influence them. I know people who didn't know about the whole behind the scenes drama and still had fun with it. That said, almost nothing can be skipped during the first watch. The only subplot that doesn't add nothing is the James/Evelyn stuff. Everything else is continued on up until the final episode and develops the characters in one way or another. Besides what's the point of not watching a show full anyway? What's the rush? The show is called "Twin Peaks" not "Agent Cooper" or "The Mystery Of The Murder Of Laura Palmer"
Given that the fandom has no consensus about which subplots are bad outside of the James stuff (and even then there have been a surprising number of comments from people who actually like that subplot on these videos) this is just terrible advice. People need to just have a little patience and figure out for themselves what they like and dislike about this season from experiencing it fully. You wanna jump around with future viewing, sure I guess, but it's really sad that people seem to view shows and movies not as art to actually engage with but as mindless content to be speedran as fast as possible in order to get to the next thing to binge.
