Thank you for these clear, to-the-point, simple instructions without having to listen to a 10 minute intro and long dragged out chatting! You should give instructions on how to create instructional videos!! 🌿
This was very informative. I appreciate the explanation of the growth habit (leaning out of the pot) and also why the roots grow the way they do (they are trying to cling to the side of a tree). This makes perfect sense. Since I have never seen an orchid in the wild, it is not intuitive for me. Thank you.
This was a nice, informative and quick to the point video, but next time be sure to film from an angle where you don't block the viewers ability to see what you are doing. It was a bit frustrating to not be able to see exactly what you were doing. Also, I would have appreciated a quick explanation of why it was ok to put the bark on top and on the outside of the roots, as it had come from a potting situation where the bark was inside the roots. Do the roots eventually grow out and around the bark again?
She put in the bark that way because in her case that's literally the only way she could put it in the pot. The orchid goes in first usually, then the media &, as you saw, the orchid fit snugly in the pot on its own because of all the roots it had; so the only way that you could add the potting medium is to put it on top and gently coax it down to the bottom by gently shaking the pot or tapping the sides. Ultimately the it really just depends on the size of the orchid's root ball, & she did an excellent job of making a long process quick and easy BUT.. if you want a play-by-play longer explanation, try Miss Orchid Girl here on YT, she makes 20 minute vids with everything &more.
The instructions were awesome and very quick. No need for a 15 minute video. However, I would like to have seen the process a bit more than just the leaves.
So do the orchids come from supermarkets in a 12 “ pot ? I’ve purchased orchid bark and I’m finding it hard to buy the next clear pot or 2 size pots up to put into my new clay pot
HELP! I have aerial roots that are 2 feet long and taking over the table that my orchids are on. I had sitting water with bacteria in the exterior pot...YIKES!!!. I have taken the plants out of their exterior pots and will let them air out ...but I will need to re-pot my orchids. Can I cut the aerial roots when I repot? They are really taking over. Thank for you help!!!
It depends on one's environment. Some people use a mixture of sphagnum moss & bark if in a drier environment, and others use only bark if humidity isn't an issue to worry about, as is apparently her case. There are actually many combinations of potting mixes that people try, it's really a trial-and-error thing. You have to figure out what works for you and your orchid.
@@claireemery3219 but the one she is working on clearly has a flower ... I don´t understand, and it would have certainly been better if I could see the process rather than just leaves covering her hands.
if you manipulate the roots like that, they will be dead in the next few hours, before doing anything with them is always best to hidrate them so they don't broke and if they do just a bit, not the whole root system
This was the comment I was searching for… I was thinking the same thing! She needed to soak the orchid before manipulating the roots. She was rough with those dry Roots!!! 🤦🏾♀️
Sanitize the shears and cut just above the split area. Make sure you sprinkle cinnamon on the cut area it's an anti -fungal remedy to protect against diseases.
Would be better for viewers if we could actually see what you were doing. The leaves were in the way of the camera the whole time. Each time you turned the pot, you turned the leaves to the camera 🙁
People complaining about not being able to see through leaves 😂 hahaa as if you need to, clearly just putting the mixture in and tapping it down, some people are utter useless babies. Suprised you can use the toilet without detailed instructions

Shes clearly focusing on the point of interest for the instruction
How did you keep the orchid in bloom for 11 months??
Root looks very healthy.
So beautiful plant s
Thank you Sharon 😊
thanks easier than I thought. they are particular plants but not as challenging as I figured
Oh, you can also repot it though there's still a blooming flowers?
I was always told not to while in bloom!
Thank you Sharon!
Nice video🎄

When is the repot time ? Please suggest me

Do you water right after repotting or wait a bit?

Still no answer?
Brilliant
What is the bark /compost mixture..and why is it replacing spagnum moss??
Moss holds moisture which makes roots prone to rotting. I’m not quite sure what her bark mixture is, but I use Espoma orchid potting mix. ☺️

Excellent. Will any bark do or specific type?
I use an orchid mix from espoma! ☺️ It has a healthy mix of mediums, containing quite a bit of bark.
I’m looking for that kind of pot but can’t find, can you tell me what store ? Or online thnx
Thank you for nice sharing ,i have many phalaenopsis hibrid and spesies ,phalaenopsis amabilis
Thanks for the video, when is the best time to transplant
She mentioned the best time is when the plant isn't in flower 😊

@@cassandra364 yes you can even hear them cracking :(
Plants are tough, it'll be just fine.
What size pot do you use?
Thank you!
OK but much of the time you were working on the side opposite the camera so while you could see what you were doing, we couldn't.
This is awesome
If you had stood 90° to the camera, we might have seen what you were doing!!
my orchid leaves are broken. What do I need to do? do I need to cut the leaves?
Sanitize the shears and cut just above the split area. Make sure you sprinkle cinnamon on the cut area it's an anti -fungal remedy to protect against diseases.
Thank you.xx
Wish the leaves didn't cover so much of what is being done1
what brand of barks are you using? I bought miracle grow brand and it doesn't look like what you're using.
Please the encredent ,s name
It was not easy to see what you were doing because you had the leaves facing the camera!!!
Unable to see what you were snipping off.
Watch miss orchid girl, she has very clear videos on which roots to cut. Indeed, it's very important to know what you're doing there!
