I truly knew Mustang could do this and I truly think the Mustang is by far the most underrated tuning platform/from the factory sports car platform that is affordable for anybody to buy and build however, long it takes. But I will say it’s probably just because I truly think Ford is the best car manufacturer out there when it comes to creating the Mustang and they have the racing pedigree to prove it and their skills at building an award-winning race car… with that being said, I was extremely disappointed that again Ford decides to leave so much on the table and break a record that is going to be easily broken. The ford GT should have had at least 900 wheel horsepower! Especially for costing as much as it does what a slap in the face that they only gave us 600! They can’t bring cost into it. So it’s been proven for like the last 15 years almost that that somebody especially like Ford with all the knowledge and programs they have to build a very reliable between nine and 1000 hp V6 engine. The Mustang is a freaking V6 platform that competes with the best in the world!. I have felt like this and known this from day one. So I’m a bit disappointed how long it took them and the fact that they only gave that thing 800 hp what an effing joke! Especially it being a rental platform it’s apparently already heavy even with the carbon fiber stuff they did to it that car should be putting down at least 900+wheel especially with all the freaking arrow they have on it. And it’s not that I don’t think you can I know I can! But I also know the suits at Ford care way more about money than the brand and racing heritage of the GT and the Mustang. There are multiple spots on that track that the Porsche and Mercedes hit over 300 km an hour before the straight. Ford knows they can easily add an extra hundred to 150 hp and it would have no problem hitting the 300 km an hour mark where it needed to. @evergreenfire509. The Ford GT supercar was a homologation car for IMSA and WEC racing. The street version had 647 horsepower. The last version of the Ford GT was the Mark IV with 800 horsepower. In 2016 the Ford GT won its class at LeMans and two years later the street versions was selling for basically double its MSRP. The GTD is basically a homologation of the 550 horsepower IMSA Mustang GT3 except Ford increased its horsepower to 800+ and added active Areo and suspension along with other special performance components. I believe the handbuilt, limited production Mustang GTD will become a collector performance car as well. When it comes to GT racing. Having more horsepower doesn't make it a better Racecar...

All the folk in this comment section that say the gtd is gonna get a lower lap time are as new to racing as ford is to the ring. Just face it, the Porsche folk know what they are doing… Fuck it, show up with a 1000 hp next time 😉 What potential gtd buyers should be concerned about is canceling the warranty by putting the car on track with other cars 😖

This just isnt a 6 minute 40 kinda car. The driver is very good and has great track knowledge, but look at all that pointing and costing. The car just isnt nimble. Doing 290 on the long straight while even 8-9 years older Porsches do 310-315. The reason must be that the GTD is compromised by its Mustang chassis holding it back.
I really am wondering why this car has not done better. They have poured all their money, prestige, and manpower into this thing. Its clearly a big loss-making operation for Ford. And still it has done worse on the Ring than a 6-7 years old Porsche GT3 with 200 less HP. --And that Porsche can be used as an everyday drivers car too. While the Mustang cannot.
Oh, Ford GT "giveaway". So first you sell enough tickets to pay down the Ford GT twice, and then you "give it away" totally for free to one lucky winner.
Americans on the Ring always "set records" that they invented... Like claiming "fastest american car", like Viper claimed to be the fastest manual American V10 on the Ring. So thats just basically Viper claiming to be the fastest Viper at the Ring then. And Cadillac back in 2008-something, claimed a completely faked lap the "fastest American saloon car". The time wasnt fake, but the car was.
@THEDriverMod_ Talk about it per title. I'd be very interested in knowing why? I agree with what u & Misha said overall, but coming from someone who has tracked Mustangs for over 10 yrs and cannot afford a GTD, I really don't think u should sell your allocation. It is going down as the 1st American car to post a sub 7 min., if u can afford one of these AND have an allocation, u r among the few and many of us would love that opportunity...but just my opinion. They stuck their neck out there so they must finish the job now lol don't let the team come back to the States until the GTD runs a 6:4* 👀
@@Allspadez i don't think it'll run a mid 640 without some serious weight reduction
@@THEDriverMod_did you see post on GTD weight a few months back? It said GT3RS was 3200 and GTD 3270.
At top speed 301 long straight it really struggled to go over 290 and held that speed for quite some time and no gain until going downhill again. It was either down on power or maybe wing holding back. I think with adjustments and weather/track conditions it will go 6:4x
@randysrestoration there is no way the GTD weights 3200lbs. If it did, then the lap time is an embarrassment
All the folk in this comment section that say the gtd is gonna get a lower lap time are as new to racing as ford is to the ring.
Just face it, the Porsche folk know what they are doing…
Fuck it, show up with a 1000 hp next time 😉
What potential gtd buyers should be concerned about is canceling the warranty by putting the car on track with other cars 😖
@frederickcook87 I'm not worried about warranty
The GTD has more to show us Anthony! Don’t give up on it yet. And Porsche has been doing g this for years and the Americans are giving them a run for their money. But again, curb weight is huge so come on Ford! Release the curb weight!! We all know the weight of the GT3 racecar, but not the GTD! This is the missing equation and Ford knows it as we all do! Yes, I have an allocation but I am not planning on giving it up and you should also think about it before you lose the allocation. And besides, who of us will drive this car on the Nurb?! I will be at Sebring, Daytona, Homestead, Watkins Glen, VIR, ATL and maybe Roebling Rd. We have a delayed order and just received our allocation window of April-September of 2026! Can’t wait to see everyone getting their 2025’s! Keep it Anthony!!
3700lbs
Im jot giving up!
Where does it say that?
You selling your allocation? Can you choose who gets it?
Not sure how it all works. But I never said at any point during the video that I'm selling my allocation either🤣
@@THEDriverMod_it’s literally in the title of this video 😂
@@BritAcrossThePond but Simon didn't sayyyyyy lol
@@THEDriverMod_lol 😂
@@BritAcrossThePond what did you think about the lap?
Ford states its weight will be 3,600 lbs.
Where?
@@THEDriverMod_ Correction: That is the targeted weight. Actual weight has not been released.
@Loulovesspeed exactly, you're talking to a genuine enthusiast. Not just a average person
@@THEDriverMod_ Oh, then I must be talking to myself!
@Loulovesspeed pretty much but I don't mind. The more you comment the better the algorithm does with the video
I find it crazy that Ford basically used the interior from a GT500 on the GTD. The car should have carbon buckets door panels console dash ect to save weight
And cost even more?
@jcferrarif40 definitely needs a better interior, carbon bucket seats should absolutely be standard or atleast an option
@@THEDriverMod_carbon fiber EVERYTHING, like the greatest looking car on earth, the gen 3 carbon fiber edition ford gt
@RossPerot-b8h yea, i wish there was more differences on the interior over the regular mustang
@@RossPerot-b8h it starts out with a heavy steel s650 factory chassis and steel doors, that's the problem. if it had a bespoke chassis and lighter doors...
And no one is mentioning the fact that the Porsche has rear wheel steering! If only the GTD had this
That's a great point. That definitely helps get around those corners faster
Weight and wheel base are it's biggest obstacles i think
I'll take 500 hp with a well tuned suspension than 1,000 hp and a s 5:21 o so suspension any day.
Same
Ford promised sub 7
Goal achieved
Screw all you haters
@@chadkent1241 hahaha that is the bottom line. Mission accomplished at the end of the day
I really am wondering why this car has not done better.
Two things holding it back, long wheel base and 3800 lbs
Oh, Ford GT "giveaway". So first you sell enough tickets to pay down the Ford GT twice, and then you "give it away" totally for free to one lucky winner.
That's how car giveaways work?
Americans on the Ring always "set records" that they invented... Like claiming "fastest american car", like Viper claimed to be the fastest manual American V10 on the Ring. So thats just basically Viper claiming to be the fastest Viper at the Ring then. And Cadillac back in 2008-something, claimed a completely faked lap the "fastest American saloon car". The time wasnt fake, but the car was.
Micro record chasing
The car obviously can do a better time.
I think so to.... 5-8 seconds faster
The track was wet though 😮
Not that wet. Damp at best in a few minor areas
Why not make a Ford GTD?! Get it under 3000 pounds. A muscle car build isn’t good for the Nurburgring.
@AnthonyBodea-s6p that would be epic! I feel like the Ford GT MkII is essentially a Ford GT-D
click bait
@@mustangmike3830 i would have definitely withheld my allocation if it didn't beat 7 minutes
I'm just a guy...
Not worth the money

@FastRace-tz6wt i don't plan on getting rid of it yet, I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be, 5-8 seconds quicker makes a world of a difference though! I got my windows too!
