    Love the photo inserts. You are absolutely right on about eye protection . We all herd it at least 100 or more times. You only have one set of eyes. Very nice repair on the seat.

    Good to hear you talk about eye protection. We don't realize how important vision is until it gets compromised. Even with eye protection sometimes we can damage our eyes.

    Wise words regarding eye protection, I've been pretty careful and pretty lucky in the past, got new lenses now due to cataracts and having new eyes means I'm even more careful. Nice the see the nitty gritty stuff getting done, thanks.

    Bostrom had hands down the best seat on the market period. That’s all Oliver used from 1948 until White finally sold out to AGCO. Unfortunately like you found with that shoulder bolt, some of the parts for them are pretty hard to find now.

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  4 года назад +1

      There was actually a guy in the States that had some NOS bolts but refused to ship them overseas ! So I decided to make what I needed.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy 4 года назад

      Well that was kinda shitty. Surely shipping something that small international isn’t to big of a hastle. Either way, nothing wrong with welding the shoulder and turning it back down. Faster and cheaper. Lol

    True story about the safety specs. Still catch myself forgetting to put 'em on even now & I've had a spark in the eye before (luckily managed to be double-extra-A++ 'ard and scrape it off the cornea by snagging it on a cotton bud) but will try and remember more now, don't much fancy a week of infected rust and hospitals specially in the "current climate" shall we say.

    That worn bush must have squeaked like f--k i have a 8210 with the same problem i have to turn the radio up or the squeaking drives you mad. Good job done and i agree with your advice about eye protection , we all seem to have used grinders and the gas axe in the past without but you dont get away with it for ever but a bit of red hot metal in a eye could be with you for ever.

    My grandad got a copper splinter in his eye working as a plumber. It was really sore but after much rubbing it seemed less scratchy. What he had done was driven the shard into his eyeball. It worked it's way in over time, and caused the fluid in his eye to go cloudy and he lost much of the sight in that eye. So, as Mucka says, don't assume it can't happen to you!

    After seeing a photo of a guy in the Practical Farm Ideas magazine where a grinder had kicked back and looked as though it had given a good go at cleaving the chaps face in half I wear a face shield and to be honest find it more comfortable than goggles and glasses as they always steam up with me.
    Other good thing to watch out is a) what you're wearing if it has a high blend of plastic like polyester in it and b) where the sparks are going.
    I learnt that after catching my jumper and shirt on fire thankfully I saw the flames before it got to my neck and didn't burn hot or quick. I was just glad I had decided to pull it in the shed in case it rained as I had a bucket of water at hand due to some straw closeby. Thankfully it left me with only with a burn like sunburn of from a welder but it scared the hell out of me as I didn't want to look down.

    Yep, I learned about the goggles the hard way, when I went to the doctor he had a combination of tweezers up on his desk and I thought oh fcuk. Luckily enough he was able to get the offending piece out with a cotton bud, he said the tweezers were the next call if the cotton bud failed.

  • @davidanderson7776
    @davidanderson7776 4 года назад

    Defo agree with you regarding wearing goggles, I had a job one summer grinding rust off of some tower legs and you couldn't see through the goggles so I was working without them, I ended up with a piece of metal in my eye, and I ignored it for so long the eye put a layer over it, now as a result I have a lazy eye

    A good old school, sturdy English seat there M'lord. But it shows it's age a bit with all those bushes. The newer seats coming out now on the South American models have no bushes at all. And they say those give you a much smother experience... There's also a lot less fabric on those models, especially the "G-series". However the older models are more reliable and are easier to live with on a daily basis I think. Even though they may need some lubrication from time to time to provide a satisfactory ride...

    Would you trade creme eggs for Dog turds ?, just asking for Another RUclipsr,I sub to. Thanks for the video the 8100 was one of my favorites back in the days of being in the UK. As far as i know there is maybe only one in Canada right now that was imported into Manitoba by County collector Graham Caitlin a few years ago when he emigrated . Thanks for the safety warning, It just pisses me off when 3/4 of these idiots posting video's laugh at the safety comments when they are clearly doing stupid stuff that's no joke if it goes wrong and they get hurt like you say or worse. Here in North America they seem to love using grinders without the safety guard on for some reason ! knowing what happens if a disc explodes with one, i recon it's a bit like playing football with a live land mine personally !. Take care

    • @LordMuck
      @LordMuck  4 года назад +2

      super6954 I have chosen to put up videos on a public platform to share both what I'm doing and what I've been taught over the years.
      With that comes a responsibility to those who are keen to learn and those who do not know or understand the dangers, therefore myself, George and others try to set and show an example of good working practice.
      It annoys me, when other RUclipsrs don't give a shit about what they show and are only concerned about subs, view, likes and boosting their own image.
      Farms, workshops and construction sites are killing grounds.

    • @super6954
      @super6954 4 года назад

      @@LordMuck 100% agree mate, I've been round the farm and workshop all my life and had the odd thing go wrong just like you said. I had the spark in the eye while wearing googles once that was kinda a surprise when it happened,and the Dr went fishing for it with his little drill while holding me down with the other hand !
      As far as i'm concerned the ones that call everybody "arm chair experts" need to shut up to. All they want is the idiots that have no clue praising them for being wonderful. If they were smart they'd figure out the guys with experience that comment trying to help them.
      That 2009 guy that had a welding channel was a prime example that shouldn't of been sharing most of the cock ups he made L.O.L. one day it will end in tears for those guys when somebody follows their mistakes, gets hurt or killed and somebody sues them and wins in this totally crazy modern world, where somebody else is "responsible" for their stupidity or lack of knowledge.
      Or like has happened with a few tubers with Channels they've sadly been killed or injured in an accident on their place where quads rolled and stuff like that. There is one recently got badly hurt while filming, in whats believed to be an acetylene explosion with a cutting torch on his boat.
