    Mental Theo has a JD-990 in his studio in 2018 so I think you are right about the bassline preset :-)

      @@DuckTronic I saw you are from Germany, so maybe you can understand a little bit of the Dutch videos? There is another great video where a radio DJ interviews Charly Lownoise and Mental Theo and deconstructs Wonderful(l) Days. There they show the DJ the Korg 01/W, from which they used a preset also, so I think you are right about that one too :-) ruclips.net/video/I6QXDAFrN-s/видео.html

      @@DuckTronic Did you know Tokyo Ghetto Pussy (=Jam & Spoon) did only use the Quasimidi TechnoX for I Kiss Your Lips according the maxi CD booklet? Maybe it is nice to deconstruct that one too. I should not be all to hard, because I think it is all presets they used. That bass drum is sooo recognizable :-)

    • @DuckTronic
      @DuckTronic  2 года назад

      Yes, I've seen that video before. Very interesting. I also thought after the video that the strings are from the 01/W, but in direct comparison they sound exactly like the strings from the JD-990. Charly had 3 of them in the studio at the time.

    • @DuckTronic

      I know the song, of course (I Kiss Your Lips). Very interesting. Unfortunately I don't have a TechnoX, but I would like to. Thanks for the info!

    Leute, ich kriege den Mund nicht mehr zu. Ich habe die Vinyl-Maxi seit über 25 Jahren im Schrank aber nicht gewusst, wie genau und genial dieser Song zusammen gebaut wurde. Toll nachgebaut und nahezu jedes Detail stimmt. Ich habe das auch einmal probiert mit "Brainchild" von Nostrum aber nicht annähernd so ein Ergebnis hinbekommen. Chapeau, meinen größten Respekt für dieses Ergebnis! Beste Grüße, Chris

    • @DuckTronic

      Vielen Dank Chris! 🙂 "Brainchild" klingt sehr nach Korg, 303 und 909. Wenn ich mal Zeit habe schaue ich mal rüber 👍

    • @Trackcheck
      @Trackcheck 3 года назад +2

      @@DuckTronic Ja, das meine ich auch. Welche Instrumente für Brainchild genau verwendet wurden, konnte ich nicht ermitteln. Fest stehen für mich die 909 und 303, welche der Korg verwendet wurden, kann ich nicht sagen. Vielleicht kommst Du da ja weiter als ich damals. Ich hatte damals eine Wavestation, JD-800, Emu E-IV Sampler und Juno 106 zur Verfügung. Das klang natürlich nicht so, wie das Original seinerzeit. Ist ja vielleicht auch mal ein interessantes Projekt für Dich. Gruß, Chris.

    • @AirZeee
      @AirZeee 3 года назад +2

      it may be possible to use phase inversion/cancelation to strip out the unwanted elements. E.G. (in Ableton Live) take 3 identical & un-warped copies of the same audio on separate channels, keep one as your 'normal', hard Pan the others Left & Right, and use a Unison effect on each to change the phase 180degrees. if you then resample the output into a 4th audio channel, you should be left with whatever is in the 'centre' of the mix - usually the vocal. you can then repeat this using the isolated vocal against a non panned original to strip the vocal out.

    Nice anecdote: The guys misspelled Wonderful as Wonderfull on the record sleeve (check it at 8 seconds in). When asked about it after the printing, they bluffed: "no , it's supposed to be written like that!"...

    • @DuckTronic

      Yes, they talk about it in the Bart Classics interview. And a photo for the cover was chosen shortly. Well, nobody could have guessed how successful it would be. Is it still the Dutch national anthem? 😜

      You’re correct. Shortly after releasing Wonderful Days they got in a conflict with the original artist over the sample. They were forced to re-record the song using a different singer. So the videoclip-version of Wonderful days is a different version than the single-version.

    Great recreation, Sir. My hat is off. I sincerely think you nailed the original. Its so good, I can't distinguish yours from the original!
    But, how about you nail Delacy, Hide away, and the synth from Jx there's nothing I want do?
    I'm very near buying a roland tr 03 and 09. Need to find a suitable hobby. Just jam around on the copies of the original instruments. For the fun of it!

      Thanks! Even though I'm more of a Roland fan, I would rather recommend the Behringer devices or other clones. The TB-03 may still work, but the TR-09 without individual outputs doesn't work for me at all. For me, the devices are too small and unusable.

      @@DuckTronic OMG, more memories! Yes! :) Thanks! I love that kind of kick and bass! Also, the original (laser) kick sounds like a self-oscillating filter sweep. Can be done with a sine wave too with a pitch envelope. (I would retrig the oscillator every time to avoid uneven transient clicks and pops due to the oscillator start phase)
