I've never been that into the punk genre, and when I first heard this on Jools, to be honest, I thought it was a lot of loud garbage. But then I listened to a few of their songs on Spotify and thought: "you know, they're actually ok". So then I bought their album in HMV the next week because it was on sale, and I have to say I'm fucked if it's not the best music purchase I've ever made. I can see why everyone is raving about it. It's brash without being obnoxious. It's loud without being piercing. It's meaningful without being pretentious. In a word it's perfect and I can't imagine it not being one of my favourite albums for the rest of my life. Buy it, urge you

Love EVERYTHING these guys are about. Love the fact they made it to jools and made the most out of every second. Love that they had this platform to deliver thier message of unity. Love that im 35 and new guitar bands are this exciting. Incredible band.
Can just about pip you as I'm 54 in March and these guys have got to be the best band to come on the circuit probably since nirvana when teen spirit was out. I've always loved most punky stuff and this is fabulous. I won't be jumping round at their gigs though as my knee is fucked !!! ( old git)

They are my favorite band right now. This song was performed very........casually for this one. THey are just so awesome though. Cant wait for the US tour this summer! Got my tickets. Might go twice in PDX!
Saw them live in Dublin a few months back, Unreal performers, the two guitarists jumped the barriers and came out into the crowd and went crazy, Some gig!

I like a lot of indie & post-rock stuff mostly, never really punk. I just found IDLES a week ago, and I've been playing them non-stop. Best I've felt all year.
You would have to be a pretty sad case to get on here and spout venom about IDLES not being "real" (whatever that is) and how much better punk used to be. If you didn't enjoy it, move on, nothing to see here for you. And no need to spread hate. For the rest of us this is as good as modern music gets.

This is the original broadcast on the tues however if you look at the repeat on the sat night its a different version were guy thwart went to play the piano he instead takes his mike up into the crowd and finishes the song there.
