1 Gram Gold Coins & Bars - Canadian Maplegrams & PAMP Suisse Bars

- Опубликовано: 16 ноя 2020
- I picked up a few 1 gram gold coins and bars in my continuing series of "let's make bad decisions". These are all meant as gifts, and I see them as seeds to build curiosity in gold stacking, but Canadian Maple Leaf Maplegrams seem ridiculously tiny. PAMP Suisse 1 gram bars are surprisingly nice.
Choosing between the two, I would definitely pick the 1 gram bar. But I don't recommend buying this size coin/bar.
NOTE: I am not a financial planner. I'm just a guy on the internet, talking about precious metals. Always do your own research before buying gold or silver.

Should I email you my address for Christmas? ;-) LOL
I just purchased 2 maple leaf 1 gram coins at action, on for 25$ and one for 17$ , minuscule or not 🤷
I've just bought 2 x 1g bars. I don't care that they are small, I just want to increase my gold, and if it's what I can afford, then so be it.
You should just try going with the 2.5 gram Pamp bar at that point. The premium % goes down quite a bit.
I just bought 3 maple leaves for the same reason you mentioned. Because there are and will be people who can afford only these tiny ones.
@@Theultrazombiekiller I was just thinking this and it’s why I bought the 2.5G because the 2.5G is just a way better price in comparison to buying one at a time
2 grams is almost the price of a 1/10th ounce of gold.
Noa ark have nice 1gr coins👌
If you don't believe in the dollar collapse and sociatal breakdown then the 1 gram option makes no sense. However, I'm of the opposite of opinion and buy them often.
Exactly. A portion of your portfolio should be in gold, and a portion of your gold should be fractional.
Absolutely correct!
I will only buy the 1 gram bars and nothing else. Sure it has a high premium, but you get most of that back when you sell it regardless of whatever the spot price does. Also far more people are willing to buy or trade even in a perfectly functioning economy. It’s also safer to have a few grams in your wallet instead of larger coins that never leave the safe.
I find myself disagreeing about the value of buying one gram gold. Mainly two reasons, if someone is just getting started and that is all they can afford, then it is all that they can afford. If a high schooler wanted to get started stacking, this might be a way for them. Secondly if we do get hyper inflation due to the federal government printing money like crazy. (cough cough) Then the small portions of gold might be more effective in a barter economy.
I wouldn't argue against it. I'd just say the premium on 1 gram options is typically very high. Cheers!
Highschooler? Try a 54 year old man. So far the only gold I have bought is a .5 gram bar and a 1/10 oz. coin. That's all I can afford at once. Plus ...yes...fractionals are better in a barter situation., like you said. But yeah you are spot on.
These are very liquid and you get the premium back. Not everyone can drop 2K on an ounce or wants to.
How do you get the premium back? Sell on eBay?
Any precious metal is liquid, and you could probably get your money back. But not quickly , if you are in a major pinch you're going to take a loss
@@2is1gold you'd need to sell it on eBay, on £1 fees,
@@2is1gold and do collection only, to make sure you don't loose any more by postage, you can even avoid eBay and PayPal fees if you contact the buyers on eBay, you can get a premium, look on eBay 1g pamp
Well thats a relief since i just bought one as my first bit of gold. I mean hey, i make $11/hr. It took me months to save up enough to get my laptop for school that cost I think around the cost of 1oz of gold. But ya know, im still going to do what I can.
I love these tiny gold coins. I purchased 25 of these maple grams for $64 each (that’s total price shipped) from SD Bullion so that is a decent price and if anything where to ever happen and I needed to trade gold for services or barter, then these are the puppies to do it with. Wish I bought more because they sold out pretty quickly at that price. These are the perfect trading coins because of divisibility. PERFECT!
Goldbacks do that too & come in smaller increments. Just have to find a good distributor.
I’m impressed that RCM can fit so much detail on the 1g “coin”.
I just ordered one I didn’t know it would be that tiny 😂 I don’t care tho they look funny cute
I have a question to which I have been unable to find an answer. Are the 1 gram PAMP Suisse bars in the full size assay cards dimensionally different than the ones in the multipack packaging?
Thanks for sharing! I have been thinking of the same thing... buying the Maple Grams to give away to friends and family. So I went to the LCS and planned to buy one, but then when I actually looked at how small these things were... 😬 I couldn’t do it. The PAMP looks much bigger. Thanks for the size comparison! It’s really helpful because the pictures online can be deceiving 👍
Very deceiving! The PAMP bars are more what you'd expect.
I'm a Maple Leaf nut and grabbed one just to grab one. I found a seller with them for less than the Pamp bars. It's the only one I'll ever buy, but it's been added to my Maple Leaf collection.
You just gave me an idea on what to buy my closest friends for Christmas! Thank you!
Any time! 😁
Love to see a video from you on Goldbacks both as gifts and in general!
these are the worth the most when gold goes up, selling an oz will be hard when it goes to few k. these will probably be worth like 200 eventually
Just imagine when the melt value of these are $200 gold will be $200 x31.1 $6,220/oz dang 😱
@@BlizzardPeak$6k/oz gold is not impossible. Remember people paid $65k for Bitcoin at one point.
@@markm0000 Very true, only a matter of time actually. Not if, but when I guess.
! I knew the 1g maples were small...but damn! I thought my 1/10oz Britannia was small!
I was definitely surprised!
Lol. I bought a maplegram card last summer because their was a “sale” and I’ve always wanted one. They are small, but I like that the 1 gram maples retain the chunkiness of the larger maple denominations.
FWIW, I don’t equate assay cards to reassurance that bar is genuine, especially the small bars. I can test a large bar in assay, but the small ones are too small to test in the assay packaging.
1:11 lol
Let’s go 1oz 1gram bars 😂😂😂
@@TophatCoins Woah! 1 oz 1 gram bars!!!!!

lol Apparently, "one gram" doesn't roll off the tongue!

Your comparison to the Lego stud was amazing, so the Maple Grams are perfect for rich kids to substitute the golden Lego studs in their Lego pirates treasure chests 😜
Ha!
Buying 1 gram of gold is not for investors. Maybe just as a small gift. But.... I like it ^^
Yeah, fun gifts, but that's it for me!
@@2is1gold why is that man? I want to save in gold, but I can’t afford anything bigger than 1 gram
@@ThePar100 You could also wait until you can afford eight of those and then get yourself a 1/4 ounce Gold Maple Leaf.
Recently I was interested in stacking gold. I'm not a collector. I want to stack gold for long term in the future. What you guys think is the lowest or smallest gold bar to start stacking with? I saw smaller and cheap gold bars like 0.25gm, 0.5gm and 1gm that I can afford. Is this kind of gold bar good for stacking and save up money. I want gold that I can afford.
1 gram bars and smaller have very high premiums. The better route is to save up and buy larger sizes if possible. Cheers!
I'd recommend buying 5-10g Gold bars at your LCS. Depending on, if they charge you the same 5% premium for the 5g and the 10g or if smaller purchases are beeing charched higher. That's the ideal weight/size for purchasing gold, for a more or less small bugdet, I'd say.
Tiny gold is cute... it makes great jewelry... I have earrings, and several rings made from Dos Pesos gold coins and they are a delight... I also have ten mini-bars of Canadian gold in 1/10th ounce size... I love how cute they are! I got them in packs of 5 and did not have to pay any high premium at all...
That sounds very cool! 🤩
You’re killin me with these into bro. Great info here. Thanks
Ha, thanks! Appreciate you watching!
The Noah's ark Armenian 1 gram are larger diameter. Comes in a neat holder with COA

I bought 2 1g britannia gold bars for myself, feeds my love for everything miniature addiction. If they had the 5g in stock or made a 2.5g I would've bought that instead though. Gold is gold!
Back when gold was 1200 the 10 frans coin was a great gift idea, factional gold at a reasonable premium. I suppose some might say a new shinny coin might be more interesting to a novice, but not me. If you gave 18 yr me a 100 year old gold coin, i would have been fascinated.
Yeah, I can see that. I would have loved a Rooster! You and I are probably in the minority, though. New and shiny is probably going to hit more often. 🤷🏽♂️
Apreesh the the lessons , I 'm learning here 👍
Thanks for watching!
Fast forward to 2023. Getting gold is ungodly expensive. So for those of us who make $25k a year and have a family. 1 gram pieces of gold, is the best we can do.
You're still adding to your stack.. And it's better than nothing, especially if it's all you can afford..I look at it like even 1 gram a month is 12 grams a year..it adds up.
What’s your thoughts on 10 gram bars vs 1/4 oz coins? Seems your getting closer to spot minus the benefits of a coin
In the U.S., I try to stick to ounce denominations.
I agree with the benefits of a coin. They're standardized, so you're certain of their geometry. This allows you to measure the specific mass of the coin more easily. I'd say you'd be getting closer to spot as you say, but I'd nevertheless go for the 1/4oz coin. I'd even prefer the 1/2oz, in which case I'd have to wait longer to save enough money.
IF we do end up in a SHTF Mad Max world, the 1 or 2 gram or 1/10th oz coins make sense because they would be usable. With a one ounce coin, no one is going to have that much change in a purchase. It would be like buying $50 worth of groceries and only having $1700 on you. Good luck with that. That transaction could involve some lead. :(
They are good idea for gifts especially the pamps . My 2021 Britannia came today your not kidding it's really nice . Keep the videos coming .
Yeah, that Britannia is 🔥!
I decided to order one .. thank u
I did not kno how small they were! Lmao
Couple years ago I remember paying $45 bucks for a maple gram and that was a ridiculous premium at the time but it's worth more now lol I just wanted little maple 🍁 it was so cool!
Same here. I also remember buying 1/10 oz for $150-$160. Those were the days.
@@matthoffman6962 yesss I know man I remember paying as low as 140 for 1/10 ounce gold eagles there about 240 now? I bought a 1885 $10gold eagle in 2018 for like 520 bucks worth almost 1k now! I miss the Trump economy
What’s the potential value of these 1oz precious metal gold bars in about 5-10 yrs time? Are these worth it for long term investing in your opinion?
It’s basically spot price +20% to +30%. If you sell immediately you will only get spot price +10% to +20%. We all know over time gold will only go up in value so as long as you hold onto it it’s not a big deal. The benefit of having small bars is being able to trade on a smaller scale without having to break a coin into cash first to buy something that’s less value.
If you take these out of their package do they hold their value?
I’m not sure. That would be my temptation, though. Cheers!
I have gold, I have silver, im still gonna buy some of these little Maples. As a collectors item they are absolutely beautiful. The detail is stunning and on a par with the '21 Britannia.
The detail is definitely incredible!
I think i like them i have quite a few pamp bars i also love the argor hereaus kinebars which are becoming very popular because they look great. All in all im really considering adding the tiny maple to my stack as maples are my favorite bullion coin. But man they are soo tiny but about as thick as a penny.
I'm going to have to go check out the gift video I missed.
It's one of those "share with a friend" types of videos! 😁
Buy all the one gram gold you can find. Got it.
Just put them on your credit card! 😂
I actually just got a 1/20 oz gold panda at a coin show Saturday! Got it for $100 did I get a good deal? I think so.
Nice!
After watching this video I’m going to pick up a pack of this. Premiums might be high but they make up for it in cuteness lol
The premium sucks tho
I buy the 2.5 gram pamp bars. I get one a month. One of those plus 5 ounces of silver. Its what I can afford, those of use on more limited incomes find these to be a great way to still accumulate PM's.
Hahahhahaha already drinking the koolaid 🤣🤣🤣
I used to be iffy about anything less than a 1/10 oz but I actually got a 1 gram just for the hell of it and you know what? I like em. I plan on filling up one of those 25 count pamp suisse trays of each denomination. 1 oz all the way down to 1 gram. I'm not planning to sell anytime soon so why not. If you got the money and arent gonna sell in the near future go for it.
Interesting. I’ve never gotten into bars, partly because my LCS options never seem to have any. PAMP stuff is great, though!
@@2is1gold yeah they dont usually have some but I'm mainly doing it to set a goal. A long term goal. I figure by the time I finish filling all of them up I'll be a lot older and they can come in handy.
I have so many of SilverCoins SilverBars and Poured Silver in my collections my friend send me at a gifts!!!
But
I never ever own any of gold yet!!!
I'm not someone who desires or seeks money, I live extremely minimalist (managed to get expenses down to ~800$ a month now), and yet there is something hypnotic about gold. A gram of gold is more hypnotic than a billion in banknotes. There is something "brilliant" about it. I think that's why our ancestors collected, hoarded, and eventually used it as money, and we still do to this day.
I honestly would rather have a lot of small ones that big 10oz or 1kg bars . They’re easier to trade and cash in . I’m about to start buying them whenever I can
A couple years ago I used I bought 2 at a time for just barely over $100.00 and I would get free shipping.
Cheers mate !
Cheers!
I have you beat on bad decisions.
My smallest platinum is 1oz coins and my largest is 5oz bars so I decided I'd diversify with fractional coins. Picked up 4 tubes of 1/25oz philharmonic coins and instantly regretted it when I received them yesterday. 1oz and above from now on for me.....premiums and cost per ounce matters when your looking to profit or ratio trade in the future.
I see the value in 1/4oz coins, but they’re the only fractional coins I don’t regret at all!
lol omg so tiny man wow but as a gift I dont mind it ! hahaha very cool man love the pamps !
PAMPs are great. Maplegrams are crazy small!
I can not imagine buying one of these. I was offered some pamp 1g bars at spot recently and said no thanks.
1/10oz is the minimum size for me at a push.
If it was at spot price I can’t see the issue but that’s just me. It is a very small amount of gold
Omg the maple gram is super tiny lol I have one and when I got it I was like omg! It is soooooooo tiny 🤣🤣🤣 I think it actually started my tiny coin collection
Good chance I'll lose them before I gift them! 😁
@@2is1gold true
I personally am only 17 years old and don’t have a bunch of money to spend and invest in gold, and I thought that buying a couple maple grams would be a good start for someone my age. Was this a bad decision? (I bought two for around $70 each + shipping, so I thought it was still a fairly low premium compared to the other stuff I saw on the market in low denomination)
Don't listen to this guy! Gold is gold! Not everyone has 2 grand to blow on an ounce of gold! In fact most people cant! If your only 17 and your buying gold to put away then your doing great! Keep it up! Buy what you can afford and just keep stacking precious metals. By the time your in your 30s you will have a sweet stack!
As I have read from people who has been on this for a long time, it all depends on what you want to do with it in the short or long term. Even if the premium on this small bars is huge still you can get it back after some time if you sell them.
I read about this guy who has been stacking gold, silver and jewelry with diamonds for more than 25 years and the only money he has invested was what he spent on the first year, he started getting gold and then started to sell it and with the profit he made he bought silver and gold. He kept doing that and all the money he uses on precious metals is from selling and reinvesting. So think about it that way and even these small bars can give you some profit in the long run.
@@darkknightstacker5420 good advice👍

Yes, Spanky.... tiny gold is so nice to make things from... nice buttons and 1/10th ounce would make great cufflinks.
Tiny gold is just cool to have, but is a total burn from a premium perspective. A gram maple coin would be super legit though. Maybe one day I can get on too! Enjoy the vids Going back now and watching your older catalog.

I buy a sheet of maple grams every year I don't mind the premium I like having them

My approach with a low income is simply to accumulate what I can every week, and I cannot buy more than 1/10oz Gold per week. But my focus is on Silver, so I take even smaller amounts of gold per week.
It is better in my view to buy official governmint products if I can get them at prices competitive with generic bullion, and these maples are selling at about the same price as Valcambi or PampSuisse

Matthew Manning Lets be honest. If you buy 1 gram gold bars and I bough 1 gram bars and EVEN ‘2 is 1’ here bought 1 gram bars then it’s not a stupid idea.
