After putting off watching Angelina for ages due to her age (I kept thinking she's just a kid, how good can she be) I finally watched her singing this song. I was emotionally overwhelmed, at the end of the song I had a epiphany that I think I may just be watching the birth of one of the most soulful singers of our time. I adore this young lady and the class she is bringing back to the music industry with her music🥰🥰
Ugh I did the same. Kid singers, while I can appreciate their talent and ability to execute amazing songs and feats, I cannot listen to them. And 95% make my head hurt, as I'm already suffering from chronic daily migraines and sensitive hearing. I put it of so long. And I happened to be watching a reactor that reacted to beatboxing of all things and was distracted by work so youtube went to their next song in line and I had to stop everything to see who in the world was singing bohemian rhapsody, my number 1 fav song of all time, in a way I could have never imagined. I was hooked, and kick myself daily for not listening sooner. Her voice is so soothing, yet emotionally stirring. Soothing to my ears and sensitive head, stirring to my heart and soul.

She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. I've seen a reaction by a charming vocal coach that dissected this performance, even down to the crumpled notes Angelina is reading from and the pen keeps waving: Angelina, at the ripe old age of 9 years and 2 months, arranged this performance herself in honor of Screaming Jay Hawkins (the original artist), and did it well! We can see that the excellent musicians accompanying her are really enjoying themselves, as is the music director (briefly seen in the beginning of the video, smiling at the latest changes of Angelina's "wishes" as she calls her arrangements). Ugh I did the same. Kid singers, while I can appreciate their talent and ability to execute amazing songs and feats, I cannot listen to them. And 95% make my head hurt, as I'm already suffering from chronic daily migraines and sensitive hearing. I put it of so long. And I happened to be watching a reactor that reacted to beatboxing of all things and was distracted by work so youtube went to their next song in line and I had to stop everything to see who in the world was singing bohemian rhapsody, my number 1 fav song of all time, in a way I could have never imagined. I was hooked, and kick myself daily for not listening sooner. Her voice is so soothing, yet emotionally stirring. Soothing to my ears and sensitive head, stirring to my heart and soul.

She started singing at the age of one year and a half and has been arranging her cover songs since she was 6 or 7 years old. She started with jazz!! She won “Norway Got Talent” at the age of 8!! Why Angelina always sings barefoot:
At the age of 6, Angelina traveled to the Middle East with her grandmother, who is from Iran and is an artist herself. Angelina noticed a girl her age making some money by asking passers-by to stand on her bathroom scale to be weighed. In order not to soil the scales, Angelina took off her shoes. She chatted with the girl who wasn't wearing shoes and learned that she is an orphan. The girl admired Angelina's beautiful shoes. Angelina then gave the girl her shoes. The girl thanked her and said she would pray for Angelina every day. In return, Angelina promised her that she would always sing barefoot at public performances until all the children had shoes. Until today Angelina has kept her promise. In 2014, she sang barefoot outdoors at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert honoring Malala in December. She also sung barefoot at a dinner with ex-President Obama. At the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about this story, becoming the youngest published author in Norwegian history. She donated proceeds from sales of the book to help children in need.

She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video).
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). I've seen a reaction by a charming vocal coach that dissected this performance, even down to the crumpled notes Angelina is reading from and the pen keeps waving: Angelina, at the ripe old age of 9 years and 2 months, arranged this performance herself in honor of Screaming Jay Hawkins (the original artist), and did it well! We can see that the excellent musicians accompanying her are really enjoying themselves, as is the music director (briefly seen in the beginning of the video, smiling at the latest changes of Angelina's "wishes" as she calls her arrangements). Apparently she was a determined young lady with firm opinions but a charming way of getting them across. The band (and musical director) fondly called her "The Boss".

As much as us AJ lunatics :) would love more a lot faster, her pace seems to be just right for her and her family.
