  • This Samsung Laptop was unable to boot as it could no longer see the hard disk or any other device to to a BIOS error. To re program the BIOS we need to un solder the EEPROM from the motherboard. I do this using a hot air gun. To re program the EEPROM I used a TL866LS programmer. The BIOS file was found on the internet (link below). The programmer comes with software to operate it but it is a good idea to visit the programmer's website to get the latest version. To re solder the EEPROM I first prepare the board with liquid flux. I chose to re solder the chip by hand! The laptop now boots up as it should. Click Here to Subscribe bit.ly/1nformatica

    Thanks so much for this great video and all the useful informatons you have shared so far.
    I have a Samsung laptop with the NP300E5X-A04IT motherboard and i have encountered the problem you describe in the video after i installed one of the common upgrades that Win10 usually proposes to the end user..
    Anyway, i friend of mine is insisting me to flash the bios without detaching (by soldering) the BIOS chip just using the AFUDOS program. What can I say? I've already detached the chip with difficulty...so, may I ask your opinion about?
    Thank you for your help and please continue this brilliant job on You tube.

      Once again you're right...i had to use the G-Parted program CD, before detaching the Bios chip!
      So, there's only one choice left...
      Thanx one more time for your valuble advices.

      WOW!!! SOLVED!
      Everything went alright. I programmed my BIOS chip as shown in the video with the CH341A 24 25 programmer and re-soldered it on the motherboard.
      The computer is perfectly running for almost one month...
      So, i think to have a good reason to be satisfied.
      Thanx a lot for your video, one more time.
      Hope this comment could be helpful for somebody else.

    Thank you for your respond, To me this information is new. At the moment I know to check some voltage on laptop motherboards like 3.3alwon and 5valwon the voltage of the RAM when the laptop turn on etc.. But I never mind that a BIOS flash was possible in this way because I do not know about the existence of the SPI programmers. Once again thank you for this video and to the future if you can do more videos about BIOS related faults that should be great!.

    también debería servir para meterle una rom modeada al bios y quitar la limitación de 30 minutos del chipset HM70 para los micros i3/i5/i7 que tiene ese equipo. A menos que en otros lugares haya venido con chipset HM75, he visto NP300 con HM75, pero las de Sudamérica todas vinieron con el HM70.

    Any chance to read/alter the BIOS settings after the thing had booted into Windows/Linux ? My laptop do not have a working keyboard, I have to use an USB keyboard and it only works after boot.

    • @1nformatica
      @1nformatica  Год назад

      Since the BIOS is a pree boot environment I don't think there is any way to access it after the OS loads. If you have Windows 10 or later you can try to access this way :
      In ‘Settings,’ select ‘Update & security. ‘
      Select ‘Recovery. ‘
      Choose ‘Restart now. ‘
      After your computer restarts, select ‘Troubleshoot’ from the menu that appears.
      Click ‘Advanced options,’ then choose ‘UEFI Firmware Settings. ‘
      Thanks for watching, have a great day!

      If you can access the BIOS then select the option under "exit" to load startup defaults. Otherwise if it can boot from a CD then there is a BIOS flash tool on the Samsung website to re flash the BIOS. If like mine it cannot boot then the only option is as I have shown to remove the chip and replace or re flash it. Good luck!

    Hello, In some cases the laptops won't turn on at all. How can be determinated that the cause of the failure is a corrupted BIOS? Thank you so much

    • @1nformatica
      @1nformatica  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, if there is no life at all not even the fan spinning up or any leds lit when you try to turn it on I would check in order of probability:
      The charger adapter plug has power, check the voltage with a meter usually around 19 volts. Wiggle the wire to see if it's broken. Second the charge socket, check from the inside for power. They are often broken or burned especially the ones which are soldered directly to the motherboard. Third check that power passes the first part of the input circuit which provides charge to the battery, check the battery voltage to see if it's getting charge. If those checks pass then it's most likely the motherboard is dead. Sometimes the heatsink to the CPU is loose or the thermal compound dried out. Usually in this case the laptop will attempt to power up and then immediately shut down. The case in this video of the corrupt bios flash is very rare. The clue was the missing boot devices. As always Google the model number with the fault you see and it maybe a common fault as with this Samsung. Good luck with your trouble shooting!

    Hi there, I have the same issue. The only difference is that I can boot up but every time I turn off the laptop is does not recognise the HDD but the DVD only. I need to enter into the BIOS just press F10, choose Yes and the laptop boots again from HDD. Every time I have to do this. I have changed the CMOS battery, I thought that it was dead and this is why it keeps forgetting the HDD but did not help. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version but same issue.

    • @1nformatica
      @1nformatica  5 лет назад +1

      That's very strange. I guess there must be a fault in the cmos backup circuit, maybe trace the circuit to the chip and check it sees the battery voltage?
