I am going to attempt to hang lights on my house due to my husband is not a fan of the holidays and wont do it. My kids are excited that mom is going to do it. Thanks for the video wish me luck. Ann
You'll more than likely divorce within a few years. He should help and be excited about it because it's something that brings joy to you and your kids. A person can only take so much of their spouse not being supportive and not wanting to engage in family fun. He's made Christmas about himself instead of his family. I feel sorry for you your kids.
What? You need a new husband! My wife and kids loves me getting all hyped up for lights to go up in the house. Every single year after Christmas I buy more and more, so every Christmas the light show gets bigger and bigger.
I use 1x2 inch strips of wood with large holes at each end to slide over a nail or screw that's permanently left in the house and painted to hide it. Attach the lights to those so they're all pointing the same direction (to look professional). It's so much easier to put a whole bunch up at once, rather than attaching each light onto the gutters one at a time. Also easier to store them by keeping them on the wooden strips, rather than having to untangle a big ball of wires every year.
Unbelievably I am starting preparations on this year's christmas display. Takes a long time to choreograph 120 strands of lights to music lol. Just as a tip to anyone buying their lights from Lowe's the GE energy smart line of products is definitely some of the best stuff Lowe's carries. They are full wave rectified which basically means they won't flicker. My house has a rather thick application of stucco everywhere so what I'm doing is building PVC frames to fit around the windows and arches and using zip ties to fasten the lights. This is a great video but don't rule out building custom frames for your lights if your house is made of concrete or some other difficult material as set up time is greatly reduced that way.
I use a system called Light O Rama. It is not difficult to learn, but it does take time. I recommend visiting the Light O Rama forums. Myself and a lot of others that are experienced in this hobby are on that forum answering questions all the time. Basically Light O Rama sells software that will allow you to control what lights turn on at what point during a song, and they also sell the controller box that you plug the lights in to that make the lights flash and fade according to what you have told the software to do. Again, the best thing to do is visit the forums, you can get any questions answered there.
I am in the process constructing the Christmas sign. Taken from the creative project ideas "Shine" The wording on the sign will say' HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS. Which will be installed over the garage door upon completion. Many thanks Lowe's Home Improvement for the creative ideas.
Do the end of the lights, where you connect another light, its that safe in the rain? Not being covered? Its my first time putting up lights, and where i live in the winter it rains a lot.
I want to decorate my place this year - not just the trees and bushes BUT I have a cement roof with no gutter or roofing material to hang clips from. There is an existing nail so I know it can be done. What kind of nails do I use and can I use an ordinary hammer? What are the tips to prevent making unsightly holes in the cement?
+Michelle Petersen if you have gutters you may be able to use light clips. If not you may want to check into alternate methods that include hot glue, removable hooks and other solutions that won't damage the stucco. Thanks for watching our video.
Nice hanging mine tomorrow! Thanks for the tips! I just got new cords and 450 ct strands. How many can you have connected together? (450 ct). I picked up hooks too and electrical tape. Any ideas on how to keep water out of plugins? Wrap them in electrical tape?
SoGoodGamingInc - box should tell you how many strands you can connect. Sounds like you solved the electrical tape problem. Hope they're up & looking great!
You would need to switch to a type that can string more then 3 strands. LED would be a better choice. Alternatively you could plug another 3 strands in to a different receptacle. Though you may need a extension cable to get them to where you want.
Everyone asking about light clips, but what about how to plug it in from a 2 story house? Like my plug is by my front door. Do I run an extension chord from my roof to my front door plug?
Some houses have a plug on the second story but if you don't you might be able to get a solar pack. Otherwise it's going to be a loooong extension cord and some major wire management.
so we bought the GE 50ct. multi color changing lights and cannot figure out how to get them all to sync together? once strand is 1 color the next is another or twinkling, etc. any thoughts on how to easily get them all on the same color with the same remote etc? I currently have 9 strands up on the house and the remotes are not strand specific so hitting a button on one remote may change the color on the strand in front of me to yellow and then change the one 2 down to blue, etc. PLEASE HELP
I live in a flat and my balcony is only 3m. wide and the wall on top of the balcony door is 3.80 cm. Since these lights do not come short lenghts I don’t know what to buy. 😩
Not sure which timer you're referring to but you can take a look here: www.lowes.com/pl/Timers-light-controls-Lighting-parts-accessories-Lighting-ceiling-fans/4294565986. Thanks for watching.
I hate Christmas lights. I hated putting them up as a kid too. At this point it's a security deterrent to let thieves know someone lives here. Behind the ADT signage and the guns in the house.
Yep! They also get brittle if you live in a hot climate like Arizona, or Southern California. I've had ours fall a few times so I double up now and add a bit more support just In case 😅

Saved my life for this beginner with a freshly redone roof. 🤣 had no clue those light clips existed 💓💓
Light clips = genius product.

We're all on this learning curve together! 🥴😁👍👍👍🤣

Ahhh, I should have specified what I want to do. I was talking about the PVC stucco idea. But thanks I'll be sure to visit that forum!

Smiling throughout all these tangled up Christmas lights??
I want the drug he's on !!
This guy's going to be really pissed off when he finally realizes he did this in the Summer.
late reply but it was posted in November (fall):)
Aww... that's a buzzkill. Looks like it mighta been filmed closer to Summer though. I dunno. Does it look like I fact check?
the southern hemisphere has their christmas in summer lol
Maybe he's from Alabama, Florida, or Mississippi. All of our seasons look & feel like summer :(
Ummmmm Christmas is in Summer!!! Well here in Australia it is...and we woudn't want it any other way :) :)
Also, decorate alwayssss at night so you can see the light patterns so you dont have to correct them at night incase when you put them in the daytime!
Starting today. Trying to make it better than last year!
Kevin Isam it's never too soon. ;)
Thanks for watching our video
I love the look of Christmas lights all year around!

LOL OMG what a great video!! I am definitely throwing my arms up in the air like Rocky when I am finished installing my lights!!

Thanks, Justin Mertes! Glad it was helpful!!
Wow this video taught me a lot 👏🏻♥️ first time decorating on my own
I love you Americans ❄️❄️❄️ from 🏴
A pleasant way to enjoy a Griswald free lighting experience!!!
Ian Gibbs c'mon now, everyone loves Clark! But we hear you on the falling off the roof and shocking yourself thing.
+Lowe's Home Improvement - or is it Luther trying to get 'Frosty' up on the apex of a steeply pitched, icy roof in Christmas With The Kranks? ;)

+aminadaze You may be able to treat it like stucco and use hot glue, Command hooks or a similar approach. Thanks for watching our video.
Thank you Lowe's, very cool.
Indeed
Thank you so much! My dad wasn't going to hang up lights this year because of the nails!
itsbrooke108 A few clips and you're in business! Thanks for watching our video!
I’m really interested in those light clip things.
For being 7 years old. Pretty high quality video lol
Those clips work neat. Like them.
mostly if your husband does it ha ha
Thank you for such an informative video! I’m going to attempt to do decorate my house this Christmas 😊. Wish me luck!
SAME HERE!!!
That looks really good. I'm doing my house this year. Thanks.
I can only do that when I’m not living with my mom.
This guy hanging up the lights is cute. 😍
Thanks now I can hang my lights from Menards
This was 9 years ago. Any updates on item used or still the same?
Been using light clips for 15 years personally. Definitely best option
Great Video - Makes my life a lot easier.
I have stuccoed eaves with concrete roof tile. There are little holes in the metal flashing. What is the best clip for this?
+Michelle Petersen if you have gutters you may be able to use light clips. If not you may want to check into alternate methods that include hot glue, removable hooks and other solutions that won't damage the stucco.

Tip: I would use green electrical tape, to cover the connections on the light strings that way it would not show.
Francis Bailey well turned out I found a ton of black electrical tape in my bin of lights. So I just used that. Thanks anyway!
SoGoodGamingInc - box should tell you how many strands you can connect. Sounds like you solved the electrical tape problem. Hope they're up & looking great!

Merry Christmas 2017
Mr Altemose Yes!
It look good
Fantastic, this a wonderful and more creative presentation.
Do you know how i can attach lights to the exterior frames of windows?
+Jaeson Mok you may want to try exterior removable hooks as they won't damage the frames. Thanks for watching our video.
I’m here for this comment. The video kind of glossed over the windows... can you drop a link to show what type of clips you mean?
Good Ad! Now to go to my local target where the lights are cheaper
great video, i nee to get light clips from lowes now
Just getting ready...
Have yet to see a clip for those of us in the southwest who have tiles for roofs with fascia boards.
Its getting to be that time!
What should I do when I need more than 3 strands of lights? But can only string 3 strands together?

Yoooo.... I have this house as a hallmark ornament lmao

Oh come on. It doesn't matter how carefully you put those lights away every January, they always tie themselves in one huge knot lol
I heard wrapping them around empty paper towel tubes will keep them from tangling. I'll give it a try.👍
@@mberrynunez Good thinking 😉
That's a really good idea thank you
my parents house, the inner door frame is loose. Do i use wood glue? Or nails to fix it?
Nope 2020
What is it’s just a wall? How do I hang? I’m bringing it to Christmas party so it has to be temporary
merry christmas!!
Yeah, I need to get those clips... no more tape that always falls down
I don’t need lights because I already have enough... in my 43 Christmas inflatables
