Another Wolves fan here, loved Barry Douglas, super left back. Two tremendous goals stand out for me in that wonderful season, which is my favourite season in the 54 seasons I have seen since 1969. The free-kick v Leeds.......what technique. Just superb. Also a lovely right foot finish v Reading into the top corner in front of the South Bank. Thank you so much Barry!

These fellas need educating. Bielsa's Leeds team never fell off a cliff. We maintained every single stat fitness wise, apart from Douglas (shock lol). We failed due to massive injuries and a squad that had peaked ability wise. Bielsa told the board we needed a full revamp the summer before he went. They couldn't afford to, and the rest is history.

@@Lukerodgersbeeston I agree, but we also have to be fair and acknowledge that the style of play had been massively figured out. The decline and relegation was avoidable by picking up the players he wanted, but I don’t think we’d have had another season anywhere near that first one and would have likely ended up moving to someone like Slot or Emery which would have been perfect.

Easy to overplay the Bielsa years at Leeds. One season they missed out on promotion. One successful season with promotion and one good year in the premier league. Let’s not forget his methods were taking them back down before he was sacked.

You say that as if it's fact but we weren't in the relegation zone when he left. Marsch then came in, took us into the bottom 3 and then back out on the final day and somehow proclaimed himself as the saviour. The truth is the players weren't good enough, Bielsa couldn't work wonders forever. Look at the following season, we were even worse and went down anyway.

Injuries were the problem not Bielsa. Players came back and Marsch limped to survival

He got Patrick Bamford an England cap mate. He took mid level Championship players to 9th place in the Prem within 3 seasons. It was an unbelievable achievement. Was never guna last forever

That’s a crazy take. One successful season with promotion = one of the greatest sides the championship has ever seen, one good season in the premier league = took a side who couldn’t hit water if they fell in it to a top half of the premier league. His methods weren’t going to last forever, but he wanted us to pick up the likes of Gakpo and Gvardiol to go alongside the likes of Raphina. The decline of Leeds is not just solely on the tactics being sussed out. Raphina alone made us 10x better, now imagine the following season he had gotten the players he wanted, then we could have moved onto a different manager if needs be

We got hammered against the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Tottenham we went from that to getting hammerings from Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace. Bielsa wasn't the problem he papered over the problem which was the clown show board
