It's letting them know that this is animal abuse and it is wrong to do this for money. It is not a popularity contest. It's sending a message out exposing the abuse and scam. It's not only about fake barnacles on turtles, It's all other animals, including monkeys as mentioned in this video. I too would like to roast the people making these. But only after major but impromptu surgery to various appendages, which are good to have but not necessary for basic life support. Then I'd roast them, the people not the severed appendages, in a 375°F oven for two hours.

What floors me is the effort one would have to go through to source the fake barnacles, track down a turtle (whether dead or alive doesn't seem to matter to these people) glue the barnacles to the shell, and then scrape them off. Like with that much effort you could do something actually productive, but chose to abuse animals instead.

I remember when Soda Pets had called out how their was a channel feeding live animals to Pac-man frogs I think and people commented how its nice to see the little rodents being eaten or hear the little screams like it was asmr. There is also channels on RUclips Kids that used painted dead koi as puppets along with a monkey channel using koi again for fake fishing. RUclips is messed up and doesn't check most videos for animal abuse.

The baby monkey stuff is a BIZZARE subculture that's been around the internet for years. I just watched a video covering it, actually, I believe by Turkey Tom? It seems to have started out in the comments of actual nature documentary style videos that simply showed baby monkeys getting eaten by predators and the reality of how brutal life in the wild can be, but then escalated into people creating communities and channels solely dedicated to it and even people deliberately hurting the babies. It's especially strange taking into account how they seem to love all other animals and many are 'regular' people outside of it, with families and children and normal jobs and such, and just as many women as men who enjoy it, whereas other animal torture sickos seem to be a majority men. It's exclusive hatred for baby macaques for some reason. It's incredibly bizarre and incredibly disturbing. Thank you for bringing attention to these types of things. There's a lot of awful things that go on right here on the surface web that most people have no idea about simply because they avoid attention outside of their community, or target those who don't know any better (like kids) such as with the fake rescue channels Edit: it was Turkey Tom! Just revisited his video on it and he mentions that it's vastly underreported for how long it's been around so if you can stomach it, it may be a good idea to cover it. I wouldn't be surprised if his video on it got demonitized and suppressed as well so it'd be good for it to get covered more by more creators to make as many people as possible aware of it

I don't know if you saw the story of the macaques in Bangkok brawling in the street for food scraps after covid hit and tourist numbers vanished. Well I watched a few clips of this and so ytube decided to send me down that rabbit hole. It sent a few videos of some of these macaques being captured for relocation. The videos themselves weren't too bad, but what was disturbing were the comments. There was a high proportion of individuals expressing pure hate for the creatures and gleeful over how scared some of the animals were. While I can't be sure, I felt that some of the comments were from locals since they had names for certain individuals being trapped. It occurred to me that these macaques were being used as a tourist trap but their growth in numbers must be difficult for the locals to have to live with every single day. It made me deeply appreciate the "Don't feed the animals" mantra that a lot of places promote and perhaps instead of resorting to developing a deep seated hatred, it might have been better that they promote this mantra too.

Soda Pets was also demonized and marked for harmful behavior when she called out animal abuse on some channels too. The people who work for RUclips on that aren't good at the job.

4:57 - Here we see the freshwater box turtle, often the victim of groups of clams who fly from the oceans to hot glue themselves onto the turtle's shells. Such is the cycle of life.
Thank you for your vids. I am one of those who had watched turtle vids unknowingly that those vids are fake. Thank you for making me realize. I am also reporting a lot of fake rescue videos and so far I got an alert that 2 of those vids are restricted/removed but the others are still live. You were right about them buying channels because i saw one that had unrelated vids. I highly recommend people who see my comment to check the channels of rescue videos and report them immediately. Spam report! Ive managed to have 2 vids removed!
As for peta... I hear they dont do as much to help than people think they do. Its the smaller rescue groups do way more than big ones like peta do. Most donations go to advertising, office stuff and stuff that is not rescuing or helping.
There’s a channel called Help Turtle Life spewing out the same crap. I’ve commented and reported on a couple of their videos. There are so many good rescues out there doing great work. Also Ann Riordan’s channel How to Cook That is full of great content including debunking crappy 5 min craft videos and content farms. Thanks Dan for highlighting all these fakes
Glad to see ya do this. Man I started posting on that channel months ago that the videos were fake and people didn't believe me that were watching them. I'm so happy to see them taken down. Just have to keep an eye out for future channels and get them removed also.

There's a channel named HELP TURTLE LIFE and they're gluing lettuce, eggs, and different things onto this one turtle. Every video is the same red-eared slider.

can you please make a video showcasing a few channels that are truly helping sea turtles so we dont accidentally report the good ones. i still cant really tell the difference especially when sea turtles are actually being portrayed. like, is it safe to assume if there is a sea turtle in the video, not a freshwater turtle, it is legit, or could they still be gluing fake barnacles to them, as well?

Keep in mind this is "save paws", not saving paws, which is a REAL animal rescue/shelter (which, by the way, I seriously hope that the whole fake rescue channel thing doesn't harm the real rescue channels. They do some amazing stuff.)

I hope that any channel that profits off of abuse gets taken down, whether it be animal or human. I was also happy to see Ann Reardon's How to Cook That video warning about fractal wood burning. I remember that video specifically got taken down because RUclips claimed it was promoting harmful content when it specifically warned against it.

You don't need to click on the individual videos. You can report them from the channel's page using the report button in the 'about' section, sometimes you can mass report the videos on a channel.👍
I've heard about the monkey rabbit hole many years ago from a RUclips rabbit hole video, maybe 6 or 7+ years ago, and it's insane that RUclips still hasn't done a thing with it.
Some of these abusers will just move on to a different animal sadly. There's also all those awful live feeding and stick animals in a small container and watch them fight videos. Some of which involve turtles every now and than.

The best way to get RUclips to listen is on Twitter. Tag both RUclips and PETA. The PR department from RUclips is on the ball because damn, someone might think badly of them. And if enough people are tagging RUclips and Animal Abuse, who knows, maybe something might change.
Those while animal lovers think Peta are so great, they have multiple problems themselves. For proof Illuminaughtii has about a dozen videos exposing the truth about Peta. Don't count on their help.
This is an animal abuse choice, but its a sub category you choose after making the initial selection of 'promoting harm' or something similar. Its at the bottom of the list but its there👍
Turkey Tom recently did an entire video on that "baby monkey hate" thing and it is the most disturbing and bizarre thing I have seen in a while. And the people that have that weird hate come from all walks of life too (as you will see in that video). What I also find disturbing is how RUclips hasn't removed those videos. But then again; RUclips punishes creators for the most random stuff and has a blind eye when it comes to animal abuse.
I found the dead monkey fandom on 4chan once and wanted to deep dive, but despite how jaded I am that shit was too dark. Threads filled with images/gifs of torture and killing. It was fucked up and I bailed.
I've been going after as many as I can. I have a few comments set up so I can cut and paste them in comments for speed. Then I dislike and send message to RUclips. One jerk kept responding I was hurting his channel, and this was all for fun. You can guess my reaction.

If you live in Germany you can also have it reported to the police for violating animal protection laws, youtube has an additional option for this. It can result in youtube being criminally liable if they keep this kind of content up on their site.
I’ve been saying this for the past 10 years about these animal abuse videos but I get more pissed about the cat and dog videos. They fuck up the animals and pretend to help…. Then probably kill them or let them loose after the video. It’s disgusting and I wish the equalizer got them

If you want to see legit animal rescues, Wildlife Aid is a gem. All types of animals, fully verified as legitimate. That’s where you watch animals get actual proper care. Enoch Wildlife Rescue (Previously the Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah) is also legitimate and shows mostly eagles and hawks.
Yes, RUclips is filled with "snuff films" of animal abuse. As a snake keeper I first became aware of snake "snuff films." These were primarily videos of constrictors killing and eating. (There's never a reason to feed captive snakes live prey.) There seems to be people with a kink for these things. I'm not kink shaming anyone, but I draw the line when your kink hurts others.
I find the thumbnails ridiculous, that anyone could believe the variety of crap stuck on the turtles had occurred naturally, over time - like they glued a bizarre seafood buffet on the shell. Yet people were praising them for "saving" the turtles.
And some of these weird crap they glued on their shells make it seem more like it would be best left on (if it was real) for camouflage as symbiosis in the sea is a thing. IE organisms working together to live and survive.
Thank goodness I hated those videos were allowed to be shown. You can see they were freshwater turtles on some of those videos. And the way they were the barnacles were being removed, totally unsettling I'm glad they are being removed. That is animal cruelty to the max.
I wonder about the non-turtle "rescue" channels. A few days ago I saw a video of a young cat glued to a glue-trap, allegedly found that way. And while scrolling through that video I thought about these fake rescue turtle-torture videos. I have a great mistrust against these channels but I'd hate if some legitimate rescuers get into some trouble because of all these scammers.
I've seen the other two, I'm not invested, but I'll give you a 100% watch, like and leave a comment. That's all I can really do to help. I've commented on a few and reported a few i saw.

4:57 - Here we see the freshwater box turtle, often the victim of groups of clams who fly from the oceans to hot glue themselves onto the turtle's shells. Such is the cycle of life.
Thank you for your vids. I am one of those who had watched turtle vids unknowingly that those vids are fake. Thank you for making me realize. I am also reporting a lot of fake rescue videos and so far I got an alert that 2 of those vids are restricted/removed but the others are still live. You were right about them buying channels because i saw one that had unrelated vids. I highly recommend people who see my comment to check the channels of rescue videos and report them immediately. Spam report! Ive managed to have 2 vids removed!
This is great. I never really know about these videos. Animal abuse is disgusting and these people need to face justice.
As for peta... I hear they dont do as much to help than people think they do. Its the smaller rescue groups do way more than big ones like peta do.
Most donations go to advertising, office stuff and stuff that is not rescuing or helping.
There’s a channel called Help Turtle Life spewing out the same crap. I’ve commented and reported on a couple of their videos. There are so many good rescues out there doing great work. Also Ann Riordan’s channel How to Cook That is full of great content including debunking crappy 5 min craft videos and content farms. Thanks Dan for highlighting all these fakes
Glad to see ya do this. Man I started posting on that channel months ago that the videos were fake and people didn't believe me that were watching them. I'm so happy to see them taken down. Just have to keep an eye out for future channels and get them removed also.

There's a channel named HELP TURTLE LIFE and they're gluing lettuce, eggs, and different things onto this one turtle. Every video is the same red-eared slider.

can you please make a video showcasing a few channels that are truly helping sea turtles so we dont accidentally report the good ones. i still cant really tell the difference especially when sea turtles are actually being portrayed. like, is it safe to assume if there is a sea turtle in the video, not a freshwater turtle, it is legit, or could they still be gluing fake barnacles to them, as well?

Keep in mind this is "save paws", not saving paws, which is a REAL animal rescue/shelter (which, by the way, I seriously hope that the whole fake rescue channel thing doesn't harm the real rescue channels. They do some amazing stuff.)

I was also happy to see Ann Reardon's How to Cook That video warning about fractal wood burning. I remember that video specifically got taken down because RUclips claimed it was promoting harmful content when it specifically warned against it.
How did youtube get so ugly? and how did people get even uglier? I don't know if I can even watch a second of these videos but I will try and do some reporting. I feel it is our duty to these animals and this planet. Thank you all for caring.
You don't need to click on the individual videos. You can report them from the channel's page using the report button in the 'about' section, sometimes you can mass report the videos on a channel.👍

I've heard about the monkey rabbit hole many years ago from a RUclips rabbit hole video, maybe 6 or 7+ years ago, and it's insane that RUclips still hasn't done a thing with it.

Some of these abusers will just move on to a different animal sadly. There's also all those awful live feeding and stick animals in a small container and watch them fight videos. Some of which involve turtles every now and than.

The best way to get RUclips to listen is on Twitter. Tag both RUclips and PETA. The PR department from RUclips is on the ball because damn, someone might think badly of them. And if enough people are tagging RUclips and Animal Abuse, who knows, maybe something might change.
Those while animal lovers think Peta are so great, they have multiple problems themselves. For proof Illuminaughtii has about a dozen videos exposing the truth about Peta. Don't count on their help.

This is an animal abuse choice, but its a sub category you choose after making the initial selection of 'promoting harm' or something similar. Its at the bottom of the list but its there👍
Turkey Tom recently did an entire video on that "baby monkey hate" thing and it is the most disturbing and bizarre thing I have seen in a while. And the people that have that weird hate come from all walks of life too (as you will see in that video). What I also find disturbing is how RUclips hasn't removed those videos. But then again; RUclips punishes creators for the most random stuff and has a blind eye when it comes to animal abuse.
Please keep up the good work here. I think you have one of the biggest microphones that these are fake. We all need to keep reporting them!

I found the dead monkey fandom on 4chan once and wanted to deep dive, but despite how jaded I am that shit was too dark. Threads filled with images/gifs of torture and killing. It was fucked up and I bailed.

If you live in Germany you can also have it reported to the police for violating animal protection laws, youtube has an additional option for this. It can result in youtube being criminally liable if they keep this kind of content up on their site.

I’ve been saying this for the past 10 years about these animal abuse videos but I get more pissed about the cat and dog videos. They fuck up the animals and pretend to help…. Then probably kill them or let them loose after the video. It’s disgusting and I wish the equalizer got them

If you want to see legit animal rescues, Wildlife Aid is a gem. All types of animals, fully verified as legitimate. That’s where you watch animals get actual proper care. Enoch Wildlife Rescue (Previously the Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah) is also legitimate and shows mostly eagles and hawks.

Yes, RUclips is filled with "snuff films" of animal abuse. As a snake keeper I first became aware of snake "snuff films." These were primarily videos of constrictors killing and eating. (There's never a reason to feed captive snakes live prey.) There seems to be people with a kink for these things. I'm not kink shaming anyone, but I draw the line when your kink hurts others.
I find the thumbnails ridiculous, that anyone could believe the variety of crap stuck on the turtles had occurred naturally, over time - like they glued a bizarre seafood buffet on the shell. Yet people were praising them for "saving" the turtles.
And some of these weird crap they glued on their shells make it seem more like it would be best left on (if it was real) for camouflage as symbiosis in the sea is a thing. IE organisms working together to live and survive.
Thank goodness I hated those videos were allowed to be shown. You can see they were freshwater turtles on some of those videos. And the way they were the barnacles were being removed, totally unsettling I'm glad they are being removed. That is animal cruelty to the max.
I wonder about the non-turtle "rescue" channels. A few days ago I saw a video of a young cat glued to a glue-trap, allegedly found that way. And while scrolling through that video I thought about these fake rescue turtle-torture videos. I have a great mistrust against these channels but I'd hate if some legitimate rescuers get into some trouble because of all these scammers.
Cassandra Macdonald has spoken quite a bit about monkeys and such, almost feel like she'd have an interest in looking into it.
