Next Star wars should do a movie of how they got the plans to the second death star called rogue two. Then at the end of the credits it says, "no Bothans were harmed in the making of this film."
I voraciously consumed all the videos / podcasts while traveling this holiday season. I'm so happy to see more so soon. You guys are the perfect balance of banter, in-jokes, and information!
Aww thank you so much!
The TIE Fighter added to that Shot just for the trailer is the most egregious trailer edit of all time.
That shot is the one that I saw and decided to go watch the movie . I was not a happy camper .
Honestly so glad this project has continued. I remember you stating the 2 year deadline and I would of been crushed if it ended there. You 3 are honestly hilarious and honestly refreshing. The internal experience with the Hollywood machine definitely gives the opinions a more truthful feel and the natural chemistry between you 3 sells the whole experience. Please keep going and earning the attention this podcast deserves, you are all great.
P. S. Jenny Rae is the best piece. Sorry, had to throw a little shade into the mix. Best of luck. Can't wait to finally see who Clint's replacement is after all this build up. Just playing, love Clint and his closet too.
Thank you so much! Comments like this are wonderful.
Also, we look forward to Clint’s replacement as well…
Fun fact: the reason director Krenik lost a lot of his arrogance in the final version was because by the time they reshot that scene, he had misplaced his director 2X4, meaning he could no longer whack Vader across the head when he needed to:)
Amateur!
The news of Carrie fisher dropped while I was in the rogue one screening, so I learned of her death a few minutes after I saw her on screen
The fact that so much effort went into trying to capture the death star plans that showed an exploit in the design, elevates A New Hope. The bad guys weren't necessarily idiots and the good guys weren't just lucky.
All from that one line in the movie that a lot of people died to get those plans.
and honestly, I think that ending scene is pretty fucking awesome. and was just a last minute addition.
@@mickeyconnor830 Are you saying that I'm a victim of the Mandela effect?
Basically this movie should have been about stealing the plans to the 2nd death star. The lore already had Kyle Katarn stealing the 1st death star plans in Dark Forces
@poposterous236 was the dark forces story line cannon?
1. Lucas screwed up the storyline by opening it up to additions, even though I liked some of the stories.
2. But also, Lucas brought us the prequels... so, he screwed shit up himself.
I watched Rogue One 2 days after Carrie Fisher passed away. Made an already emotional ending into something I'm never going to forget
That must have been insane when she shows up at the end.
I would have been like "oooh, that's even more tasteless now"
So hype for this podcast! You guys have the best dynamic of any podcast I've listened to. I share your stuff with my family and friends.
TONS of Trekkies HATE modern Trek...
Just watched Picard season 2. Not only is it garbage, it pisses all over the legacy of star trek in general and Picard in particular.
Rogue one, because this episode was probably recorded on Jan 1st. Love the show as always and am so glad I can listen at work, day it comes out without issue.
11:09 Rae is pretty on point here a lot of fandoms hit a point in size where they start to form camps and pick fights with each other. Happens a ton in gaming fandoms.
Giggling thru this. There are only 2 other podcasts I listen to, this is now the 3rd and its an instant listen whenever I see a new episode. Thanks folks!
Glad you’re enjoying them!
46:43 Laughed out loud at the Beru & Owen moment
Much Respect Clint for the amount of sw merch brought along 😀
Speaking as a person that dresses up in 501st gear 😀
Chopper being a disobedient pos, is completely on brand
I really love this show. I think all your episodes should have millions of views.
Thank you so much!
Can I just say, I love Clint. He is the best.
I'm surprised they thought Disney would be against killing them all off since in A New Hope, it's stated all of Rogue One died to get the Death Star plans. But again, there's the entire new saga so who knows with Disney.
Please stop dropping these while I'm at work... I can't concentrate and waiting 9 hours to listen to these after is just not an option.
EDIT: I'm no longer gunning for Clint's spot as he's got more Star Wars memorabilia than me. Even though I used to have a Star Wars podcast, I can't compete with that level of dedication. I mean, I don't have a Holocron!
Also, fun fact: Dave Filoni voices Chopper in Rebels. Those aren't just beeps and boops, they're actual lines that have been, "Droid-ifield".
Nerds!!!
@@ItWasAShtShow I nearly forgot, #ReleaseEmpiresOfTheDeep
I was shopping while listening to this episode and BURST out laughing at Clint's Star Wars collection that he brought along.
And then the coked out trailer editors sequence got me again!!! Y'all are the absolute connoisseurs of shit shows. Thanks for another amazing episode and happy 2023!!
Right back at ya!
I only think this movie was worth it because of Andor, that is such an incredible show
Tony Gilroy deserves love for Andor. It’s incredible and I hate Star Wars.
I was fully ready to just skip Andor completely after the disappointment of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan. I figured, if they couldn't make good shows out of two of the most recognisable characters in the whole saga, what hope for some low key show about some guy who... I honestly can't even remember much of what he does in Rogue One apart from die XD
I watched the first episode on a chance, and although it was quite a slow burn, it had enough interesting aspects that I gave the next one a shot, too. I am happy to admit I was completely wrong. This is some of the best television I've watched in the last few years, and certainly ranks way above most Star Wars content. It really shows how much you can do with the Star Wars universe when you focus on the writing first. Not a laser sword in sight, and yet an incredible experience.
@@TheDelinear I feel the same. I gave up after episode 1 thought it was boring.
Came back to it on finale and my god, it was just absolutely gripping stuff. The characters are all very fleshed out, it’s the first Star Wars media in maybe 30 years that has meaningfully expanded our understanding of what it means to live in the Star Wars universe.
The sets are all practical which makes me never want to see that obvious LED back drop from Mando as it added so much to the immersion.
I hope it gains traction as viewership was low. It’s such a shame this may become a hidden gem.
Finishing the last two tonight, yeah it's really good!
Pew pew Lazorz 🤢
@@gawaniwhitecrow2731wowz so funni
Happy new years you guys! Thank you for the another great episode
Our pleasure!
Man.. I'm not even a Star Wars fan but this was really entertaining to listen to. Another great one from you guys that genuinely made me laugh out loud. Looking forward to the next one!
Aww. Thanks so much. I was worried it would be too Star Warsy for some.
My favorite Shit Show Podcast game is take a shot every time Ian says “We’ll get to that” or “Hang on, that’s coming up next” 🤣🤣 I have been binging these episodes back to back and love the show. Y’all are all so funny and jive together so well. Rae is bea
Hang on, I’ll comment on this in a second.
It's definitely worth watching Monsters and the making of extras on the bluray. You'll get a better idea of how Gareth Edwards sees the filmmaking process and why he was perceived as being the next big thing. Considering how it was made, Monsters is a truly inspiring achievement.
Andor was so dang good.
"These coked out trailer bros need to calm the fuck down" hahahahhahahahaha
I loved this episode and I look forward to your future teased episodes. Solo, Fan4stic, bring it on.
One of my favorite podcasts to listen to is yours. Keep them coming please!
Will do!
I just can’t believe it came out in 2016 seems like yesterday came out. I’m getting old
My first viewing of this movie was interrupted about 20 minutes in by an alarm in the theater. Everyone had to be evacuated and spend about an hour outside before being let back in to finish the movie where it left off. I don't know how many people there were able to re-engage with the movie once we came back, but I definitely couldn't. I didn't see the whole movie, uninterrupted, until it came out for rent however many months later. It was the weirdest experience I've ever had going to see a movie.
Misleading Trailer: Downsizing (I kinda liked the film, but that was NOT what was advertised! XD)
The coolest thing about Rogue One is that normal people who had depended on the jedi for years now were able to fight back a greater force with nothing more special than wits and determination.
Hi Clint.
Got to my store this morning and by the time I finished setting up to open, I get the notification for this...... Joy! I'll be giving free coffee or tea to anyone who recognizes it... Also "I have to get more jowly" is low-key hilarious
Whoa, you play our podcast out loud?!
@@ItWasAShtShow you'd be surprised how much business it drums up, people absolutely love it. They're no prudes in my neighborhood lol
This reminds of a quote from Doug Liman where he was told by a Universal Exec while making The Bourne Identity, that this isn't your personal Film School, it's a Movie. And Liman said it should be exactly like Film School. This is part of the reason why he wasn't asked back for The Bourne Supremacy.
I might do Bourne Identity next actually…
@@ItWasAShtShow Looking forward to it already.
I like how cool the Vader hallway scene is but from the stand point of A New Hope it makes Leia look like a stupid liar because Vader literally saw the ship fly away
1:01:00 Love the Venkman reference
Chirrut Imwe is my favourite Star Wars character. I freaking love Donnie Yen.
Oh man I would pay money for a video version of this podcast. No visuals needed.
Edward’s does a solid enough job with other projects that I want to see the original version of this. I haven’t heard anything here that isn’t just conjecture.
Rogue One is the only SW film that's made me tear up.
And the Ewok movies too, right?
@@ItWasAShtShow specifically The Battle For Endor
Say what you want, but Rogue One is the last half decent Star Wars movie, and the director's passion for it, even if it was misplaced, shows.
I THOUGHT THE EXACT THING WITH THE TIE FIGHTER
Clint....
MY DUDE!
Whipping out a Ghostbusters reference and not even explaining it.
Friggin'. Awesome!!!!
That and the "coke'd out trailer boys" should now be recurring characters for future episodes. What would they do with footage from whatever movies you do next?!?!? Amazing, guys. Thank you!!!
I’ve listened to this again and again and I always forget to say that Murderers Row is an old baseball term used to describe the 1927 Yankees (I know I’m a baseball nerd). It has been used to describe any assembly of great talent since.
YES! What a great way to start the new year with a Sh!t Show! I fondly remember Rogue One as the Vader hallway short film where they decided to attach another 2 hours of bullshit footage and plot.
4:38 Holy shit Clont, save some ladies for the rest of us 🤣
4:58 Chopper also swears in the kids show if you listen closely to his sassy dialogue. Lol
5:56 Clant’s Star Wars stuff isn’t the only thing coming, if you know what I mean 😂
6:07 You got a show accurate Chopper. He’s sassy and does what he wants lol

12:56 I bet he ragrets that decision… I know we all do…
13:49 Who invited the normie…? *Glares at Jenirae” 🤣
18:47 I’ve heard conflicting stories about the milk. You either like it or you don’t. Lol
24:33 I would like to see a movie about Storm Trooper recruits. It would remind me of my days in the Marines as a Lance Corporal. Probably wouldn’t be kid friendly. Lol
27:07 I think at this point, Uncle Frank doesn’t want people to know he’s married to that crone… lol
29:38 I would have preferred bald Forrest Whitaker instead of crazy cat lady hair Forrest.
34:31 Extremely disappointed you didn’t get his lisp down in your recreation, Clamp…
48:49 Jeez… The Chutzpah on this guy…
52:26 HAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD
54:28 Well, guys. Can we go and retroactively sue Didney? WHERE IS THE TIE FIGHTER SCENE?? 😂
55:00 I’M STILL PISSED ABOUT HOW THAT TRAILER LIED TO ME…
1:07:46 Kathleen Kennedy cares about Star War? Press X to doubt…
1:09:24 Peter’s head was designed by… his mother? Lol
Oh, man. Another great episode, guys! I’m sad that I’ve already caught up with the backlog. I just saw Gremlins for the first time ever last night, and I’m going to rewatch that Sh!t show episode. Lol
Big movies seem to like putting a bit of misdirection in their trailers now but it kind of sucks when it's not intentional. I remember seeing the trailer for Reign of Fire and getting a way different impression of what the movie was gonna be. Turns out most of the scenes in the trailer had been cut by the time the movie released. Probably the worst (best?) example of that I've ever seen.
Take a look at David Giancola's documentary Addicted to Fame, about the production of Anna Nicole Smith's final film, Illegal Aliens.
I first discovered Star Wars because my dad had the book club edition novelization on his bookshelf in late 1978. Knowing what I knew up until the time of Rogue One was in theaters, I had very little idea of how stealing the Death Star plans would have went down. I discovered the role playing game only in 1992 when the Thrawn Trilogy was out, and there are some drawings in the role playing game books that kind of give some hints to maybe some type of Rogue One type storyline but, while I have a love hate relationship with this movie, it was made when Disney Star Wars was still innocent in my opinion. The only reason why I can stand, The last Jedi, is because it's great fodder for people to make fun of! I will admit that I do appreciate the ideas brought forth by people who may not be Star Wars fans because I think that's true with every story being told but, but Disney really does seem to not care. It's as if Disney is hired a bunch of cranky teenagers to work at Lucasfilm... Who hate everything, just because it is old and smells like Bengay and mothballs to them.
Tony Gillroy is an exceptional screenwriter and phenomenal prick.
Well put.
Do you know him?
1:00:55 Keeps works!
"Don't choke on your aspirations" is clever because aspiration also means breathing.
Rogue One to this day is my favorite of the Disney Star Wars films. I agree it wouldn't work without that ending, and is not perfect, but the making of these standalone films just put more of a spotlight of lack of a clear direction of Lucasfilm was post sale to Disney. While there are things I LOVE (Andor, Ahsoka, Mandalorian, parts of the sequel trilogy), they are very flawed and structureless. They seemed to have learned nothing from having a new film every year to possibly too many Disney+ shows. That being said, I am looking forward to more shows like Andor where they explore more of how these wars for power effect everyday people.
Star Wars "fans" make it really hard to enjoy anything though...
Getting tactile with those 80’s buttons in Rogue One.
I kind of wish studios would dump all footage recorded after a movie’s release because I’d love to see people make their own cuts of different movies
This a very interesting idea. Like how musicians sometimes give people raw tracks to make remixes.
@@ItWasAShtShow yeah because I’d definitely want to see what the Phil lord and Chris miller version of Solo was like.
@@doctoradventure413 100% That would so interesting.
Rae is a gem in this ep
I think she was on coke…
This podcast was 100x better than the movie. Excellent job, gang!
Thank you! And I like the movie!
@@ItWasAShtShow Oh, I don't completely hate it, but it seemed like it was a bunch of cool scenes randomly stitched together . . . and after listening to your podcast, I have a better understanding of why that happened. Great show, you've gained a subscriber :)
49:53 Gilroy is so smart for avoiding the toxic Star Wars fan base by staying away from the franchise from that day forward wakka wakka wakka
Is it too late to change the podcast's name to Cock and Talk?
That’ll be a new segment.
NEW PODCAST LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
I kinda would like a more abridged version like some of your more recent videos. I would love to see all the footage that they shot for this film!
I already did (on another channel). See the playlist section.
I did not know Tony Gilroy had no love for star wars. Hard to believe after the great work he did with Andor
Rogue One was the first movie, to make me want to become that star wars fan that knows the backstories of the most random background characters.
I desperately want to know about the crew of that Hammerhead Corvette that DECAPITATED A STAR DESTROYER WITH ANOTHER STAR DESTROYER
so true.
Looking forward to the episode where you discuss disappointing/misleading trailers! I guess it goes without saying that you need to pan those trailers where all the good bits from the movie are in it and thus, spoil the movie (almost the complete opposite of misleading.)
Yeah, it might be a misleading/spoiled trailers episode.
If you want to talk about a misleading trailer vs the film released, take a look at Highlander: Endgame. There were shots filmed specifically for the trailer that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the film, were in NO way whatsoever part of ANY screenplay, and were solely to deceive movie goers into thinking the movie was far more fantastical and FX filled than it was. One of THE worst cases of deliberate false advertising in a trailer in the history of film.
The Courts recently made it law that companies can be sued if trailers show false advertising… I suppose it’s good that Rogue One came out in 2016
It wouldn't be Christmas at our house without Bea Arthur singing. Sadly, we could only find her doing the urkel dance. Just not the same.
Dunno if there is anything there, but would love to see a podcast episode on classic doctor who. From what I’ve heard there is an absolute ton there
Hmm. Unsure. I should make Clint do it because he's a huge Dr. Who fan.
1:19:58 "Mon Mothra"
I would like to know what happened to Gareth Edwards. Guy directed a movie that made 1.5 Billion, and also Godzilla which made 529 Million and kicked off The Monsterverse, and yet he's disappeared. Around the time of Rogue One, it was said he was going to write and direct a Star Wars Trilogy separate to Rogue One and not featuring The Skywalkers, and that's been quietly forgotten. I wonder if he got Blacklisted because of his film-making approach.
Yeah we cut that bit, but he hasn’t released anything since. But he does have a movie coming out this year.
Clint....you are my hero!!! #inyoutheforceisstrong
Ill share this everyday is i can to hekp get these views up. Yall deserve more
The only Disney star wars movie worth watching
Awesome show. Wish you guys could produce more content because I look forward to each new episode. Can't wait for the Han Solo episode.
Sorry, we try to be more consistent. It just hardly works out. Haha
Hilarious. Love u guys. U should contact mr sunday movies and do a episode together itd be hikarious
This episode, more than most, is a real crime for not showing Clint's outfit.
We post them on Instagram.
Return of the Jedi was the superior movie of the first three because of character development and dialogue. The dialogue was so much improved from the first movie that A New Hope, in comparison, just sounds like a bunch of grunts somewhat resembling the English language with PEWPEWPEW noises intertwined. A New Hope and Empire felt like they were just making it up as they went along (the prequel trilogy is so convoluted BECAUSE of all the time they spent stitching up plotholes from the original three movies).
I can't stand star wars but I loved this movie and I loved the ending ,pity there are not more endings like that.................
"Murders row" is not a reference to people who kill. It's a nickname for the 1927 Yankees lineup, which was very good. They "murdered" opposing pitchers. So saying "a murders row" is calling a group of people very talented.
Sports analogies!
What's "The other show"? Is there another podcast or something?
Clint gets the shit show Grammy for best costuming for this episode
i have had discussions with other Star Wars fans who i come to find only like 3 out of 9 movies, sometimes even just 2. Which seems pretty low given how strong their opinions are, and some claim that they are Extended Universe fans, which of course i ask 'like what' ....and its never a solid answer lol. Its a bit strange.
I don't know if I said this in this episode but one of my favorite lines is from The Simpsons: "Comic Book Guy's favorite thing is Star Wars... and he hates Star Wars."
@@ItWasAShtShow lol indeed that was this episode.
I like the fact that everyone dies, but I hate the notion that it “had” to be that way. Thinking like that is why the Star Wars universe feels so small: unless it directly impacts the Skywalkers it literally can’t be allowed to occur.
Absolutely. According to the lore, the Empire controlled over a million planets with 500 _quadrillion_ inhabitants, but everything has to tie into the actions of a dozen people over a handful of planets. We don't need an on screen explanation for why people weren't in the original trilogy when the rebellion was likely striking at targets across tens/hundreds of thousands of worlds.
Andor does this much better, but even there the idea that this huge Imperial machine is managed by a room of like 12 people, or that a rebellion large enough to make even a tiny dent in that machine can be funded by stealing one shipment of credits is a bit silly. I get why this is. It's easier to describe the size of a system like this in text than it is to convey it on screen, and in a movie or TV show you generally want to focus on a hero's journey. One thing Andor did really well is refocus the story on the idea of the people as a whole rising up against oppression, even if there were a handful of actors pulling the strings to make that happen.
It was fantastic
Star Wars
Empire strikes back
Andor
Everything else is derivative of those three
18:11 That's not a "British accent", whatever one of those is (???), that's Received Pronunciation", which Gareth Edwards doesn't speak like.
REMEMBER THIS

I mean, you criticise shooting stuff like a documentary, but that WAS George Lucas's preferred filming style. Maybe this is why Rogue One ended up with quite an Episode IV feel (IMHO).
I needed this today
shit...shite...hahahaha
Bro bro bro Tie fighter in the back while she's walking. Booooooommmmmmm!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 damn cocked out trailer bros.
I'm 14 minutes in, and I gotta say, it's annoying having one of the three hosts constantly saying they know nothing about the subject matter being discussed. I've been enjoying some of the other videos, but this one's making me feel like I shouldn't be interested either.
One of the most boring films I've ever seen. It's tough to watch even with the rifftrax.
Based on black hawk down and saving private Ryan and also new hope. Every single one of those movies is way better than One
Over 6 and a 1/2 minutes in is too long to actually get started
