Maddy is literally showing little boys that they can wear makeup & still be straight men. Plus Maddy is hella funny & creative. Didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we should’ve gotten to bc the edit was so focused on casting her out.
For a show that often sheds a negative light on outing peoples identities this one struck a chord with me, like I didn’t like how Ru walks in and just blabs it to the whole room instead of letting Maddy tell everyone herself when she was ready. Then how she followed it up with “oh I’m gonna make a joke to smooth it over.” And just made this moment even more cringe worthy. Not only was outing Maddy very disrespectful but if they had just let her come out on her own, that would’ve sat a lot better with viewers and been better television. But production clearly wanted to write the narrative of how they didn’t like having straight people doing drag and they kinda threw jasmine at her the episode she went home. Hence why that untucked beef seemed very produced and forced. They even had drag race alumni talking shit about her outside of the show, on the pit stop (violet) and in the viewing parties (Naysha) Rupaul is making it very clear that he doesn’t want straight drag queens on the cast so he made an example of Maddy so that any others would be discouraged from auditioning.
@@axisboise Yeah, this show and it’s alumni have many hypocrisies that still go on to this day, but continuing on with Maddys storyline. Case and point that one runways where Ru was acting crazy because of her “coffee enema” when she’s all like “It’s missing the *insert gay noises*” Or when in untucked the queens were talking about what it was like to be part of the lgbt and production kept zooming in on Maddy to prove that she wasn’t part of the conversation.

Yep. Some people just are open-minded enough to enjoy the craft for what it is, not necessarily for its association to a gender or romantic/sexual orientation. It's called nonconformity.
Maddie said something that really resonates with me: I never advocated everyone should do drag, it comes from understanding …” And made me wonder… my dad likes trans guys as a fetish but he doesn’t like that I love drag ….. I feel like Maddie understands
@@briaaaaaaaaajust wondering -- why not? to me, saying that straight people can't be outed implies that straightness is the default unless proven otherwise. also, colloquially "outed" is used in contexts like "so and so was outed as an anime enjoyer" or whatever. in my understanding "outing" is any revelation of something personal, especially related to sexuality/gender, without that person's consent. i would genuinely appreciate someone explaining why you can't out a straight person because i feel like i'm not understanding 🙏
@@Stephh99This is late but the thing is that outing a gay, bi or trans person holds its own meaning and significance. We still live in a world where it is very dangerous to be LGBT, especially in some areas and countries where it is acceptable to kill them. So, when outing a LGBTQ+ person, you are potentially sentencing them to extreme harassment, bullying, abuse and even death. The same can't be said for a straight cis person, since being straight and cis is viewed as normal and no one would kill or hurt someone for it. Though of course, I personally believe that Maddie may be in a bit of a threat, but not for being straight, for being a drag queen. Drag queens are assumed to be gay men, so Maddie may be in danger of harassment from homophobes and transphobes. However, outing her to gay men won't have many serious consequences, besides a few terrible bad taste jokes. It's a false equivalence basically.
Drag queens have been straight, if you admit the true history of drag, RuPaul. They were known as female impersonators and have a firm foothold in the art.

@@fabiana8445 If not everyone in that room knew Maddy's sexual orientation, it wasn't Ru's place to reveal that.
And for what we have fought and still fighting for as part of LGBTQ... this hypocrisy is just not it
@@axisboise Yeah, this show and it’s alumni have many hypocrisies that still go on to this day, but continuing on with Maddys storyline. They really wanted to make it known that she wasn’t gay and that she wouldn’t get all the references or have the guts to branch out and do something that a “normal” drag queen would do. Case and point that one runways where Ru was acting crazy because of her “coffee enema” when she’s all like “It’s missing the *insert gay noises*”
Or when in untucked the queens were talking about what it was like to be part of the lgbt and production kept zooming in on Maddy to prove that she wasn’t part of the conversation.
How r straight ppl supposed to be outed man shut up fr.
Rule for thee but not for me
I definitely agree with u, but it’s just wild thinking about having to come out as straight and outing a person as straight is so abhorrent let alone needs to be something that should be kept under wraps.
I’m glad that more people are finding ways to express themselves outside of traditional gender norms, we all deserve to feel joy wearing whatever we want

Maddy's situation is no different to theater actors playing opposite genders in a stage play. Like Edna in Hairspray. It's just costumes.
Speaking of Edna in Hairspray, even films/movies do this too: John Travolta played the role of Edna in the Hairspray (2007) film. And there was Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire. And who could forget White Chicks?

I wish I could forget White Chicks.

Being gay myself, it really upsets me when I hear gay people talking so negatively about straight people. When I saw RuPaul Drag Race would feature a straight queen, it really pissed me off seeing so many gay people bashing the decisions and saying drag is only for the gays. The LGBTQ+ community is supposed to stand for love and acceptance of EVERYONE! Pride in being gay is not about feeling superior to those who aren't LGBTQ+, it's about showing we are proud to be who we are because what makes us different makes us special. When you gatekeep something like drag or try and put down straight people, you're just being an asshole. It's not cute to be a "diva gatekeeping girl boss queen"
Yeah it seems many people are stuck in the "edgy gay teen who hates all straight men" phase.

Yep. Some people just are open-minded enough to enjoy the craft for what it is, not necessarily for its association to a gender or romantic/sexual orientation. It's called nonconformity.
Maddy Morphosis is Joey Jay’s sleep paralysis demon

you can't out a straight person LMAO
@@briaaaaaaaaaexactly all these comments are insane.
@@Stephh99 correct… people are always assumed to be straight. that’s why gay people need to come out, not straight people!
Female impersonators are not the same as drag queens.

@@fabiana8445 If not everyone in that room knew Maddy's sexual orientation, it wasn't Ru's place to reveal that. It's not that the real world consequences are the same, it's that the gay community in general asks that they don't get outed, but then RuPaul, gay icon, "outs" someone the literal first chance that situation becomes possible.
That's a clear double standard, and sends the message that the LGBT+ community doesn't consider straight people worthy of the same respect that they're (deservedly) asking for.
@@abysmal79 of course I watched the episode. do i think it was rude of ru to “expose” maddy the way he did? sure, but y’all holding this to the same standard as a gay person being outed is absolutely ridiculous. straight men aren’t in any evident danger for being straight, regardless if maddy is the “minority” in this specific situation. and also I still stand by what i said, i’m sure maddy didn’t ask anyone for her sexuality to be kept a secret. all she said was she didn’t feel the need to disclose her sexuality herself right away, not that it was a secret to anyone.
