When I was younger I'd play the imperials all the time, setting up Small outposts on whatever map I played and began a war of attrition on my opponents. It was rough on the miners though.

I did that too I set up scout towers to keep an eye out for enemy ships on any island I could find but to me the miners were actually ok because I kept leaving my game going when I shut the ds and I virtually had an unlimited supply of bricks

I'm pretty sure it's just the sound system of the ds "compressing", the quality. Because if you used (decent) headphones the quality of the sound/music would match this one fairly well
