Pete - question - will you be persisting with the Vice balls with the new clubs - I have seen titliest commentary that their clubs are obviously designed and manufactured around the performance etc. of a ProV. also, based on the stats - how much of the differences are just technology - 5-8 yard increase year on year. I find myself watching your Taylormade fitting video quite often. It’s a such a comforting video and I love the details that go in to every club decision.
Hope while you “Build my Bag” those grips help with your thumb/wrist. I know with the size of them they definitely help my wrist from getting a like carpal tunnel pain in them. So best of luck mate!

I had t 100 and they felt hard and spinny. Trackman proved it. Re fit into zx7 and the feeling of Japanese irons are so much better. Always stick to jdm irons . Hes going backwards for the cash. Que titleist fanboys. Lol

I’ve been considering switching to Jumbos for a short while, Bryson strengthened that thought in my head and although I’ve never had wrist pain, I have had some right thumb pain from gripping. My hand are somewhat longer than average and “puffier” than average too, so I’m thinking it may be a good idea for me as I’ve had to adopt an odd grip to feel like I have control over the club. Maybe I will “Build my Bag” with new Jumbo Max grips haha
When getting jumbo max grips be sure to see a competent fitter. The extra weight of the large grips can drastically change your swing weight.
it will only work with driver for most people ,in a sense its all about personal feeling

Mate “Build my Bag” videos are some of my favourite and 2 of yours inspired my switch to Taylormade Hi-toe, your one when you were club sponsored (as Rick would put it a full time playa) as you chose them over the MG and your recent Golfbidder challenge against the Subscribers where you picked the Hi-toe as one of your favourite used wedges.
I now have 2 used Hi-toes in the bag. (Used but still the youngest clubs in my bag by a full decade).

I loved the fitting video at the new Titleist facility so kool you had that experience! I was recently fitted for irons and I was torn between the new Titleist and TaylorMade. I ended up going with the 790’s because my gapping was better with them. I highly recommend any golfer that wants to get better get fitted for clubs! Keep these videos coming Pete!

Having just gotten into golf, I’ve been getting lessons and now that I have a decent swing I am going to build my bag, I appreciate all the help you’ve posted, it’s helped me get the list out of my lessons

I am always excited to see a new video from you. They are a joy.
You bring up the issue of "bigger" grips to accomodate a need to protect yourself/change your grip position. This brings to mind a question I have had for years, since I went to my one and only Twin Cities Golf Expo (Minneapolis, MN, USA) and was introduced to the idea of what I guess I would call "Parabolic" grips; i.e. grips that are tapered in reverse of standard grips so they are narrower at the end of the club, and thicker as they descend down the shaft in the direction of the head. The logic of the designer/sales person seemed pretty good. For instance, he points out that other objects that are designed to be held by the human hand tend to be wider toward the thumb/forefinger side of the grip and narrower toward the pinkie side. This also matches the general shape of the hand itself, where at least from the pinkie side to the middle finger, not only do the fingers get longer, but also the metatarsals (hand bones) get longer. Yes, the index finger and associated metatarsal are shorter than the middle finger, but that is also where the opposable thumb comes in, still allowing for the largest part of the grip. I know these grips have been around for ages, and I can still find them on line. I have NEVER seen one of my dozen or so online golf content makers even discuss them.
Since it seems to me that the traditional golf grip is based on tradition more than actual ergonomic analysis (i.e. they started out wrapping a leather grip around the end of a shaft that tapered from the top to the head) I would think a good tryout by several of you online guys would be worth the effort. But anyway, its just a thought.

I’ve got irons over 10 years old, had a go with a modern iron, difference is mental, not all down to the stronger lofts either, like you saw, the higher launch made a big difference. Cheers Pete, Build my bag!

I have a set of old mizuno mp32 and I can’t justify getting a new set the way they feel is just indescribable. I’ve tried a bunch of new iron sets since having them as well just always find myself putting them back in the bag!
“Build my bag” I’ve been using the Mizuno MP-20 MMC’s for about 6-7 months now and absolutely love them. Such a great feeling set of irons. My playing partner uses the Titleist AP2’s and let me try them out and those feel amazing as well!

Only issue: clubs are getting more expensive and not all people can afford new clubs. I guess a proper fitting would help most people to find the right clubs for them and improve there game.
