I made mochi from scratch with a steamer once. It turned out pretty good. I'd still like to try and make it the really old fashioned way, and make it from steamed sweet-rice, rather than the mochiko. Of course, I plan on doing that with a stand mixer. If you wanna go really really old fashioned, you've got to break out your wooden bowls and mallets.
Whenever my mom makes mochi she does it the traditional japanese way of pounding sticky rice. Maybe I should show her the microwave method.

Oh yeah! This reminds me of when I had some mochi treats from Japan in 2018, before I bought mochi ice cream at grocery stores from 2018 onward. And mochi ice cream comes in strawberry, green tea, mango, chocolate chip, cookies and cream, and most recently orange creamsicle. And it's so yummy, I'll give you that.

Something I love about this channel is that a lot of the recipes are actually doable at home, if you have the time, energy and access to ingredients. So some people are actually likely to reproduce it and use the same techniques that you showed.
I don't think a recipe that wraps every item individually in plastic wrap sets a good example.
