I went through the dilemma of getting this or the 14-30mm F4 S lens. After trying them side by side, I could only conclude that there was only a very minor contrast improvement in the 14-24mm f2.8 and that was easily fixed in post. I guess for the club scene stuff you are shooting there, the f2.8 makes more sense. My primary use is tripod mounted real estate stuff, so brightness is not really relevant. But, also having moved from the F mount 14-24mm f2.8 absolute physical beast, I just love the small and compact nature of the 14-30mm, plus you get that little bit of extra reach at the long end, which does make it more useable and that's before we even start talking price.... Interesting vid Jason, thanks!
Ya, where I was shooting in the clubs the 2.8 is a real necessity, especially since I am shooting at such a high shutter speed as well. Happy to hear you were able to get something that was best for your needs though. Good luck with your shooting!
Just bought one! I’m an old man and was in NYC when breaking started hitting the clubs (it was on the street long before that) but it’s cool to see the medium some 40 years later especially in Japan! 🔥💪🏽👍🏾
Thanks! The level of breaking these days is crazy compared to where it started, but it is SUPER fun to photograph. And some of the best dancers in the world are in Japan so it makes things even more exciting for me! Good luck with the lens!
I loved this lens, the look, the feel(not so much the price lol) I bought it but returned it. Mostly I didnt like the distortion in the corners, coming from a traditional fisheye i prefer that look in my photos. I wish Nikon/ someone would make a quality fisheye for Zmount. Currently using a TT Artisans 11mm. *wear a helmet haha
Ya, would LOVE a nice little Z mount fisheye with AF. I would buy that in 5seconds for sure. But the zoom on this was super helpful as well, so hard to decided, haha. And ya, getting a helmet is a good idea, hahaha!

What an incredible atmosphere to shoot in. Certainly a lens to consider if these are the results. Love the shots.
Thank you so much for the nice comment!!!
They are amazing events to be part of!
