In today's witcher 3 lore video I will be discussing one of the most dangerous creatures in the witcher world, a species belonging to the class of draconid, the wyvern. Witcher Monster Lore. The Wyvern is a monster that was first introduced in the first witcher game, The Witcher, although it already existed in the books. The Wyvern then later appeared in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt under the class of draconid. Watch today's video to find out more.

7:30 Funny thing, I played Witcher 3 this year and found "random event" where the same Scene from the books happens with geraltz meeting a Showman that tries to earn money by showing people a caged young Wyvern and imposting it as a Basilisk. While Geralt argues with him about the creatures identity, the Wyvern breaks free and you have to kill it.
That event is a reference (4 book), when i read the book i remember that question and just laught

I really like the fact that we only encounter one (and even only sort of) dragon in the entire game franchise. Puts the whole mystique and extinction in perspective

In the Witcher 3 where Geralt does the same as you mentioned Ciri doing in the books. You find someone on the road saying he has a basilisk and it was a wyvern or forktail but I only found this twice. Don’t think it was an actual quest in the quest log.

I’m pretty sure that a similar thing to the books happen last in the game. Where a Wyvern is caged, escapes and you have to kill it.

I believe in velen in witcher 3 you will come across a random event if you return later in game where a man has a young wyvern in a cage claiming it's a basilisk, little nod to the books I believe.

So the wyverns of the Witcher are basically like the Wyverns from Dungeons and Dragons except they come in multiple colors

The scene of the Ciri exposing the Basilisk as fake is completely recreated in the Witcher 3 except it’s Geralt.
Is anyone else out there that doesn't use potions, oils or bombs (except for destroying monster nests)?
At first i didn't until I tried it once and 2 shot a monster. Now potions and oils are my bread and butter

Something interesting to note is that there seems to be either two variants or two models of the basic wyvern in the Witcher 3. The first is the one pictured in the video, the second is similar to the first wyvern but it has a very stubby tail reminiscent of Shriekers from the Tremors movies. This isn't talked about or explained anywhere in lore or the game and I thought it was rather curious.
People saying Wyvern’s aren’t dragons are honestly not too clever and misunderstand. All Wyvern’s are dragons but not all dragons are Wyvern’s. Wyvern’s are a subspecies of dragon is every fantasy genre they appear in. It’s why their called dragons in most of them except the Witcher.
I havent read the books, but there is a quests in witcher 3 where you do exactly what ciri did.

Hey @WitcherGeorge. I see that in the Witcher universe the old continent of Europe Asia and Africa seem to be present. Is the continental America in there? If so any sources about this? I am doing research for a character I plan on creating for this universe that could potentially come from the American continent.
PS: I am a character artist so is something for my portfolio I'd appreciate the help.

But bruh an ad every 2 1/2 minutes in a 10 minute video. Literally 4 ads in 10 minutes. Im more than happy to support you etc. RUclips red subscription etc. But 4 ads in 10 minutes is just stupid. Makes the video unwatchable unless you have ad block or yt red. Youll be sitting for at least 2 minutes out of 12 minutes watching ads.
