Mark is the best choice EVER for JC & Co. to have on board. He knows the gear, it’s value and more than anything, what the people want. Couldn’t be happier with where Gibson is at and incredibly excited for their future. -Aaron
Albus. Band I totally agree! Mark is fantastic, dude. I was a little skeptical at first about him leaving Norms, but it just makes sense. Gibson got the perfect guy for the job. Mark is a relatable guy, he’s a real musician, not a guy in a suit.
Adam Bickers exactly Adam. I think between the new CEO & Mark, they have two dudes at the VERY TOP, that fully get what made the brand so good & have taken the necessary steps (specifically in QC and new product roll out) to make sure the people are happy and have been heard. The best part is they delineated between “expected core instruments” while still leaving room for innovation for the next generation of patrons.
They still sell very few because they build very few. I’ve been waiting for mine for three month! For the thousands of les Paul’s you see in factory videos you can catch a glimpse of like a dozen explorers.
I frankly dig the natural finish. Alan Collins-style. Never was much of a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, but I liked his Explorer. I had the Epiphone version 10 years ago, and I miss it. It was in black. What I particularly liked about it was that you could put the toggle switch in mid position, cut the volume on one pickup and still play with the other, just like the BB King Lucille. Is that the case here?
It turned heads alright, they sold very few Explorers and Flying Vs back then. So few that Gibson decided not to even release the third guitar in the series, the Moderne. What a shame, three of the coolest guitars ever designed! But thank goodness players smartened up and they are still with us today, and as popular as ever!! I've had all three! Moderne copy of course.
Explorer needs to have all white finish '80s Hetfield style It's my dream guitar since always. It's sad that I cannot buy new white Explorer from Gibson.
Glad to see you at Gibson Mark. Good wood ,pots, pickups and the works makes me want to seek out a 2019 to test drive. I lost hope in this brand for a lot of years growing up on Gibsons. You are single handedly creating some interest. Hope the pricing comes back to reality as well. Great job !
Mark, so very proud of you and your hard work in the guitar world, I would enjoy having the chance to work and talk with you someday as I think we share the same likeness for guitar and music! Thanks!
Gibson looks like their back on track with simple but solid quality builds like this. Focus seems to be back on quality woods and better overall construction; no gimmicks like robot tuners or circuit board electronics, just raw quality guitars! I’m going to buy this once sweetwater gets them back in stock!
@manitou2010 people who can actually afford a Gibson. Gibson is smart not to listen to all the whiney kids about features and colors they want when they can’t even afford to buy it anyway. They have zeroed in their focus and now making guitars for people who actually purchase them. And good on them for doing that.
So mark ... Did those explorers original have carina wood / dirty fingers pickups ...or was that just a certain year to year thing ... Mine is a 84 re- /cream W/ those specks ... Thought I’d ask Thx Bro....peace
It's a good video but it ain't as funny as the "we're coming for you - play authentic" one... Now that's a video. I especially like the dead shark eyes look. Classic...
its 2022, why cant Gibson always have a few standard colors like black always available? I should be able to walk into a guitar shop and buy a black or white explorer right now. If you want a black explorer you get an import Epiphone or a 6k custom shop. For the love of God Gibson get in touch with what people in bands are playing right now and do it round $2k. Nothing wrong with this fine guitar but not everyone these days wants to be Allen Collins from Skynyrd. If you want the younger generation to play Gibson make Gibson and all its guitars available to them. Other wise every kid growing up is going to want a Schecter because their guitar idol played one. How many kids growing up in the 70's and 80's wanted an SG because of Angus Young? There is no kid right now who wants a guitar because of Peter Frampton. If Gibson wants to be the champion of guitars they need to defend their title not sit on their ass making reissue everything. Get out there and make kids want a Gibson again.
I agree 100% growing up in the 2000s and 2010s the only band I can think of that played Gibson Explorers and Vs were Mastodon and are really the only reason I got into Gibson.
Burstbuckers 2 and 3 match with this perfectly. The BB 2 and 3 set destroy the 1 and 2 and the BB pros. Gibson needs to put out an sg model with the 2 and 3. That ser rules in all mahogany guitars . I never wanted an explorer or a V until I heard the 2018 models with the BB 2 and 3 sets. I have an 2018 explorer and want to get a 2020 model as well as a 2020 . The BB 2 and 3 are exceptional at splitting the difference between vintage and modern classic rock styles and heavier styles both can be done extremely well with those pickups. More power than your average paf type but not so much power you lose clarity and get too much compression. They can sound open when you need then too and they can compress just enough when you need them too . Great blend of warmth and cut .
More natural in Norman's than here in Gibson, the way Mark told the stories about the guitar. It give an impression that there's a pressure. Go back to your style man 🤘
$1,700 for this guitar and it comes with a gig bag and not a case? Seriously? Here we go again. Same old Gibson with the same old problems they've had for decades now, just a couple of new faces at the helm of a wayward ship. Sometimes I miss the good old Norlin days. The guitars had quality control problems back then too, but at least they came with cases!
This is going to be a great year for Gibson. Thank you Gibson for ending the constant flow of ridiculous garbage like Robot Tuners, Zero Fret , Weight Relief, Chambered Bodies, Circuit Board Electronics, Dip Switches, Coil Tapping, and Coil Splitters.
I want to see how many Explorers were handed to Agnesi before he got one that was somewhat playable; wait a tick, what he's playing doesn't match the audio, so maybe he never did get a playable one. 3000 dollar American Gibsons bear a lot of similarities in quality to their 200 dollar Chibsons counterparts from Alibaba. I do find this little fact interesting and ponder if it's more than coincidence. With this considered, the bigger question is why Gibson never sues Chinese manufacturers for making counterfeits nor does Gibson sue the US government for allowing Chinese crap through customs. Are they, Gibson themselves, reselling Chinese counterfeits as authentic USA Gibsons and charging premium prices? Simply install authentic hardware in the Chibsons and toss it on the shelf, reap some massive profit there boys!
See how long gibson keep mark doing these videos, the norms videoes were more natural, these need stripping back and just let mark be mark,, too much production, i want to see him in the back digging a guitar from storage and rocking it with some reverb!!!
Only catch: is this edition going to be blown out of the water at the same overinflated prices attached to US-assembled guitars with Gibson's logo on the headstock?
I’m such a rebel I might go check one out at an unauthorized dealer 😏
Kinda weird hearing “Mark Agnesi from Gibson” now instead of Norman’s Rare Guitars but good video.
Gibson, I love Explorers. But please give me Alpine White. I need that explorer. Have wanted one forever
Spade White a second on the alpine white! I love that finish! Wanted an alpine explorer for a while myself
Spade White you’ve made me want a guitar I didn’t think I wanted... damn GAS!
Made to measure program, dude. You can order one. It'll cost you but it's possible.
Alpine White with the ebony board "the way it should be" for Explorers and Vs!
1969 Gibson mini hum in the neck position and Seymour Duncan’59 in the bridge on my Korinaphatneckchibson . All the way❤

Great comment
How about now?
I love my 2018 lefty Explorer. It is the one guitar I thought I'd never see in a lefty version and now I own one. I'm still in hog heaven!
They still sell very few because they build very few. I’ve been waiting for mine for three month! For the thousands of les Paul’s you see in factory videos you can catch a glimpse of like a dozen explorers.

It's my dream guitar since always.
It's sad that I cannot buy new white Explorer from Gibson.
You could have it subsequently refinished.
@@Shred_The_Weapon Buy new Guitar just to refinish it? Not a best idea Custom Shop, seems to beeter one.
Yeah, but with a white pickguard too I say
You also should have an ebony fingerboard for a white explorer. Rosewood just doesn't look the part compared to ebony on a white body explorer.
Now you can buy white Gibson Explorers at Thomann.de in Germany. Shipping world wide. 1949.-€
Great job !
Tried one of these at a shop in austin and man gibson has stepped up their game big time!
I'm a week into ownership and I'm in love. Fantastic instrument oozing with tone. Great job on this one, Gibson. She's a keeper!
I just ordered mine today! I can’t wait to have it in my hands!
I’m working on building a few explorer style guitars. The one I’m working on now is outfitted with EMG HetSet active pickups and a 3 pc maple body
Hey MARK got a NEW T-shirt!
Proud owner of one of these beauty’s as soon as I pick it up I feel the riffs!
Things are looking up for Gibson
Mark, so very proud of you and your hard work in the guitar world, I would enjoy having the chance to work and talk with you someday as I think we share the same likeness for guitar and music! Thanks!
That one should be called the Allen Collins tribute model. Looks just like his 58 korina minus the whammy bar.
And minus the Korina wood. I'm pretty sure Gibson made an Allen Collins model at one time.
Hey Mark, I am over here, why you not looking at me
Ya buddy! 🔥🔥🤘🏾🤘🏾
I kind of want an explorer but I’m happy with my sg and les Paul
Why is he randomly shouting at me?
"UN *BOUND* rosewood fingerboard" 🙉
Does is in the flying v vid too lol..must be something about that word.
Gotta love the korina , i wanna play one
Anybody else notice the rig marks using....tweeds n marshalls... sweet
im annonymous It’s mahogany, not Korina.

I’m glad to see Marc on RUclips again I loved him on norms rare guitar great spokesperson
1700 dollar guitar with only one finish?!? We want it in white!
with EMGs loaded in
They’re doin a lot right now, so it’s not surprising. We get options of guitars now, but options among finishes will come later I’m sure!
It looks like the Gibson product line-up re-boot is aimed at baby boomers and Gen-Xer's. The purists, if you will.
@@G.Patrick_Johnson people with back problems now lol

Mine is a 84 re- /cream
W/ those specks ...
Thought I’d ask
Thx Bro....peace
That's fucking sick. I want one
What a Beauty!
First explorer on the explorer!
MARK AGNESI MADE GIBSON GREAT AGAIN!!!!
Nice Dean bro...
Mark Solid demo.
Hey Gibson, are you leaving us Southpaws with the Original Collection behind or will there be some left handed options?
Hell. Yes.
"all new gibson explorer" yeah mark im pressing x to doubt on that one
Please bring back the Moderne with Burstbuckers.
The audio never quite matches Mark’s hands, but he’s playing a lot cleaner and tighter than he used to at Norm’s.
When I see explorers I immediately think of the Australian band Airborne
When is the new ES collection coming?
Is this a joke? Isn't this the same spec as last year's model... and the year before that, and the year before that... Is the neck slim taper or 50s?
Hipster guitar of the week
Long hair metal kid guitar
It's a good video but it ain't as funny as the "we're coming for you - play authentic" one... Now that's a video. I especially like the dead shark eyes look. Classic...
Mark, it’s a THREE PIECE body, not a two piece. Kind of surprising that one got by and nobody has pointed that out.

"UNBOUND Rosewood light fingerboard!"
good job on trying to hide those downgrades by pointing them out.
I get a very Doctor House vibe from Mark. In a good way.
But I want a black one!
👍
SEND ME ONE IF YOU PLEASE
More natural in Norman's than here in Gibson, the way Mark told the stories about the guitar.

Agnesi Da' Crazy don't messa 'round, don't play fony y'all!
Allen collens would be all over it.....RIP
looks like three piece right?
Not a bad little guitar
Whatever Gibson is paying this guy it's too much.
El principio me recordó a the beatles honey don't
A much better effort than the original collection Flying V
Thank you Gibson for losing all those lawsuits

Why is he yelling?

Explorer needs work. The shape is off. 70's and 50's Explorers body shape is rounder on the edges. Fix it!!
Only catch: is this edition going to be blown out of the water at the same overinflated prices attached to US-assembled guitars with Gibson's logo on the headstock?
