These guitars are amazing. I'm loving everything I hear! Mark is doing great and the new lineup seems unbelievable! Please please please do a demo of the new Custom Shop 1964 Gibson SG Standard!!
I normally don’t watch company marketing videos, but I respect Mark and am rooting for good things to come from him working at Gibson. I also bought a Custom Shop ‘64 SG Standard reissue (one of the NAMM guitars in fact, as seen in various videos) earlier this month and am *very* impressed. It’s right up there in feel, fit and finish with my actual ‘64 SG Special. The Alnico 3 pickups are as PAF-like as anything I’ve heard from the various boutique makers…again, very impressed.
Thanks Gibson for listening and going back to your roots! Super excited for the future of your company! I love my les Paul and I hope future generations will always enjoy Gibson as one of the top guitar brands. Keep up the excellent work!
Great to see you back in the saddle sir! If I may offer one suggestion, the guitar is beautiful, the delivery seemed kinda scripted? The thing I enjoyed most about gotd was how “off the cuff” and natural it felt. That being said Gibson’s RUclips channel has one more subscriber and its only because your the new face of the brand!
Nice finish. Glad to see Gibson going back old school. Somethings you shouldn’t change. But hiring Mark, that was the smart change Gibson needed. His knowledge and love for these fine instruments.
Just purchased one and it's far above any Gibson I've ever played, well done they've nailed it, the closest thing to owning a real 59 I will ever do... love it
skimmer52. Rubbish. He is not a player and not a businessman and I'm not convinced by him even though I'm all for Gibson continuing. Is he really the best they could find ?
I trust Mark; if HE says Gibson is back... they’re BACK! Hes no sell out! Gibson got serious again and wanted the right man for the job! Good stuff Mark!!
Oh hell yes!! That’s my guitar. This is the guitar I’ve been saving for and now I won’t have to pay like a hundred and fifty thousand dollars for it. Again............. YEAH GIBSON!!!
I am glad to see Mark in here instead of Norm's rare guitats shop. He gets here better money and better credit for the job he is doing. And he is bringing Gibson back to life. Best thing that could happend!
Welcome back to the youtubes, Mark. Great to have you back! And great guitar. But man... did you piss off the video person during your onboarding? Please just let Mark play! We don't need out-of-synch closeups of his guitar-face or, or out of synch guitar action shots. You want to be the real deal, then please just be the real deal! Mark doesn't need the production - or at least that production. And the background music over his talking is distracting. But Mark, and the Guitars are awesome - I will be giving these a look for sure!
Its great to have mark back on the internet! I could never afford one of these nor justify its expense considering I would have to drain savings and retirement money to do it. It is nice to dream about it though
NICE, I was thinking of buying a PRS this year, they're just up the road from me. But this 59 clone has me seriously thinking about a new Les Paul. Was great seeing Mark Agnesi.
I've asked before, and I'll ask again. Do people handle their guitars with mittens made of unicorn mane while wrapped in a full body condom? They're meant to be played. Build up a patina. They're not tribal fetish objects.
An affordable "burst". Nice. It should be no surprise however that a significant portion of rock music was made on ordinary off the shelf Les Paul guitars. Sometimes it was all we could do to get one. My first was a '75 wine red deluxe (second) pancake special and guess what. It sounded great!
Joe Thibodeau Those wine red deluxe’s are things of beauty. By pancake special are you referring to a flat top special w/ p90’s? I love those things! Rock on!
Mark... so how come all the production USA models have the Les Paul silk screen so close to the truss rod cover.. but on all the historics / custom historics it is in the right spot!???
Im curious about my R9. Seems like the string angle on the bridge is overkill steep . Is that normal ? SN R9 69423. Im getting mixed responses from those more knowing than me about doing the string wrap around to compensate. She stays im tune fairly well but temperature does provide challenges . Also intonation was very sharp out of the case . Took some work. Time and money to get it all playable. Including action. Spent 7 grand on her and would love to know more about this particular re issue .
I should add im a blues player and strum hard and bend a lot i ,ean a lot also this is the most played guitar i currently steward. Play her on hand made 1960 and 1950 circut amplifiers made by Pete Purdy. And i always get compliments on my tone . playing of course with me has lots of roo, for improvment . Tone is astonishing . Only guitsr ive ever played where the tone and volume pots actually matter .
Wow.. I have to say I am impressed. I spent some$$ on a few .. Most was 3400 on my 2013 63 50th anniversary 335. And I LOVE it. Still have it will never sell it. But this is 6G's oh man...I dunno, but again..if I bought it it's mine forever
Real nice guitars! I got a 2018 1960 Reissue awesome guitar. I saw a video where he talked about vintage Bursts and said they didn’t use hide glue for the tops back then. They used some other type of glue
Mark did GIBSON get the arch on the arch top correct????You know what I’m talking about, just like you taught us on GOTD. This is why you took the job,to get this right, the little things. 👍👍✌️
Finally gibson on track, the new ceo did do some real work! Make Gibson great again is just few steps away! Mark is passionate about the guitars he talks about, i like that✔
To be fair, they really didn't have anything to do with making those guitars in the first place. They were developed in michigan under Ted McCarty. The company now is a brand manager in a different location. The men who developed the fern mandolins, the mastertone, the les paul and the SG are long gone. I have seen the earlier custom shop versions of these guitars in person in nashville. their price made no sense. They are lower quality than a collings CL and effectively cost 2-3 times as much. Just my opinion.
Gibson let Mark be himself. Let him write and do what he does. We trust Mark because he is very genuine. I don’t miss the couch, but let him play it through all positions. His buy if you want, I don’t give a fuck(I know this guitar is cool)attitude is what we love!
These are great, I just bought one I keep hearing well they keep making guitairs for lawyers and doctors, I am neither i just saved my money im blue coller and it was worth every cent. So haters don't hate just hate the game.
Man, he's really "selling" this thing. The Really-and-Truly-Absolutely-We-Mean-It-This-Time 1959 Les Paul.
yup and i bet you in the coming years they'll get even closer to the original lol
Nice presentation, Mark! Great axe! Iconic as iconic can get! Good to hear from you, again. You tell 'em how it's done, bro! Keep the vids comin'!
I bought my Les Paul Custom from Mark and Norm. Mark quoted me a price and Norm was upset that it was too low. Score for me.
